That was seriously the ONLY whole in our team last year.

If we can get someone, I don't think we can go wrong.

BTW: I was just contemplating this in my head: Redman for Mantei? The D-Backs save maybe $500K-1 Mill (paying for Redman and half of Matt), and get the starter they're looking for.

Raul Mondesi is still out there.

I doubt we'd even try to get him.....we backed off of him at the trade deadline last year because of his attitude....plus we don't NEED him.

I'd rather have Williamson just because Mantei's durability is an issue, and the last thing you want is your closer on the shelf. Even paying half of his salary leaves us on the hook for $3.5 million...

Williamson would cost around $3.5 Mill as well, and I'm just not ready to give him that. I'd rather wait until the Red Sox non-tender him and sign him as a FA at around $2-2.5 Mill.

How about trading for Magglio Ordonez? His 1 year deal falls right into Loria's plans, and they can re-sign him if they get a new stadium...14 mil per is a lot, but I'm sure he'd take less to re-sign (unless he has a monster year)

I love Magglio and think he's unbelievably underrated..

It's not the same. It's like signing a lesser Vlad at the same price while giving up a heavy amount of prospects in the process.

No thanx.

He wouldn't cost as much as you think...the Sox need to dump some salary...no one will bit eon Thomas and trading Lee doesn't make sense, so Mags is the odd man out..He'll obviously have a pricetag, but I wouldn't think it would be outrageous.

WE DON'T NEED A DAMN LEFTY! WE HAVE THE BEST LEFT HANDED PITCHER OF ALL! MICHAEL "I like to throw the ball into the dugout" TEJERA!

Seriously, Thome is scary so we NEED a GOOD lefty.

rumor is that if the this whole Arod deal goes down, the Red Sox would ship Odalis Perez to Chitown for Mags

Why the Marlins didn't pursue Guillen?I'm just baffle....

What a bargain at 3 mil per year....

Imagine Lopez and Guillen....

Mercker and Levine will be twice as productive for about the same price as Benitez.
