December 17, 200322 yr neu is a starter who couldn't crack the A's starting rotation so they used him out of the pen last season. I saw Neu pitch during his days at the U of M, and he is NOT a starter. He is a reliver by trade, and could be worked up to closer a few years down the line. He exceled in that role in Miami and especially when the pressure was on.
December 17, 200322 yr For Neu? For a quality starter? If the marlins are trying to get some bucks to get guerrero, this is costing them too much. You lost a good starter for a mediocre reliever.
December 17, 200322 yr For P Mark New (sorry if spelled wrong), a PTBNL, and cash. Reported on channel 10 Neu, a reliever, and ex-Cane closer, threw the last pitch of one of our recent National Titles. And Cash. Hmm. Vlad money anyone? Yeah....About your signature. I don't think the Marlins are going to be getting Farnsy.... That is just plain dumb if you think the Marlins will end up with Farnsy.
December 17, 200322 yr That is just plain dumb if you think the Marlins will end up with Farnsy. That was like that before this trade.
December 17, 200322 yr Go back to your hole Ziggy!! We are talking about the Mark Redman deal not about Farnsworth. Why dont you back to cubstalk.com where you belong!

December 17, 200322 yr Sounds like Big Red's stay in oakland will not be long...rumor has it Beane will use him as trade bait to get either LoDuca or Kendall. A's are in need of a catcher after dealing Ramon Hernandez. Also, Neu sounds like he can contribute immediately. Excellent walk-to-strikeout ratio. I believe he was a Rule V guy who spent the entire year on the A's roster. :thumbup
December 17, 200322 yr I love the trade. Mike Neu was actually doing very good in the bullpen early in the season but then didn't get into games because of Keith Foulke. And we got cash and a prospect too, good trade.

December 17, 200322 yr redman was gone regardless of vlady or anyone else OK, I do think you are starting to live in denial now. Why would the Marlins send Redman out for a reliever AND cash when they can trade him to someone else straight? Could it be because they have more faith in themselves then you place in them? And I haven't given up on Eischen, I was just requested to change it earlier today and gave in to the request.

Redman was gone no matter what because of AJ coming back.I don't understand how you can come to conclusion this trade has to do with Vlad.
December 17, 200322 yr we are getting cash OR a prospect In that case, I hope it's cash. We have enough prospects.
December 17, 200322 yr Redman was great leader and played outstanding through most of regular season. You will be miss Big Red.
December 17, 200322 yr What happened to Williamson for Redman? Man oh man, Beinfest, I hope this is a "domino" move, where it frees up money for some other stuff; taken on it's own, we got bent over on this trade... :banghead

Red's $3+ million arb figure made him expendable the moment we won the WS.

Redman was gone no matter what because of AJ coming back.I don't understand how you can come to conclusion this trade has to do with Vlad. Why would we deal him for Cash and a (very good) reliever making 300 Gs instead of for a reliever who is a proven closer and would be just a little bit under? Or for another proven closer we've seen before? Or a guy with a 100 MPH heat seeking missle? The options were there, but we chose this one. I think in the coming days we shall find out why.
December 17, 200322 yr Redman was great leader and played outstanding through most of regular season. You will be miss Big Red. :thumbup Best starter during the regular season. Consistently solid, he's going to do well in Oakland's ballpark too.
December 17, 200322 yr until beinfest proves himself to be consistently wrong I accept that he's consistently right.
