December 5, 20187 yr So are these hires good? Apparently Stottlemeyer did good stuff in Seattle and Hillman has been successful overseas despite overseeing some bad Royals teams before they got good. Replacing Nieves is probably an upgrade by default at this point. Still, none of these guys are named Perry Hill.

December 5, 20187 yr Reading up on these guys they all have Yankee connections but I don't think that's as significant as their personal connections to Jeter Denbo and Mattingly. I'm saying they were hired for other reasons than "just" for their Yankee tie ins. Hillman was on Donnie's staff in LA and Denbo was Hillman's hitting coach in Japan... Stottlemeyer is close to Jeter but really it was his dad that had the true Yankee connection... and Livesey only had a stint in the Yankees minor leagues.

December 7, 20187 yr Hillman says he's been in contact with Mike Hill about joining the coaching staff since August! Is that normal? Poor Perry Hill his days were numbered before he knew it.
