Pitchers that "could be" non-tender

Featured Replies

I didn't see any relievers on the list....except perhaps Armas would be willing to move from a starter role to long relief.

Damian Moss is a choke.

Baez would be a nice setup man.

Armas would be a great addition but do we really want another starter? unless AJ is going to the pen ...

We could use Armas until AJ is ready :thumbup

How about Jose Mesa as a setup guy? I know hes not a good closer, but probably a good short reliever. He had some bad outtings last year with Phillies no doubt, but just think whose the all time saves guy for Phillies now.

i LOVE jose mesa! if it weren't for him, we'd only have one world series title...

jose mesa? no.

he messes up a lot...

The Phillies need Jose Mesa more than we do. They can keep him.

I understand he does mess up alot, saying a short reliever, meaning he doesn't have to come in every game when a save opporitunity comes around. Part of Mesa messing up is he sometimes play in 3-4 straight games in a row.

jose mesa? no.

Mesa's a FA, don't think they're re-sign him.

garcia is an intriguing name.

he had a rough season in seattle last year.....

the cause of it, I am not sure.....

provided it was not from injury, you definitely have to look at garcia.

It then presents you with another interesting dilmenia of having 6 starters....

But I still say bring AJ out of the pen next year.

Lilly could be a nice option, but I dont know if we need him, I would be much more inclined to look at left handed relievers...unless you want to turn him into this.....

I'd love to have Baez on board, but not as the closer. He seems to struggle in that role. I think he could be an effective set-up man though.

And he could start.

Just to add something to the bullpen talk... it appears Benitez will accept the Marlins offer because it had been rumor the only other team with an offer was.....

The AP is reporting that the A's and Arthur Rhodes have agreed to terms on a three-year, $9.2 million contract.

The deal will be once completed once he passes a physical. Rhodes will take over as Oakland's closer next season and be one of the great value picks in fantasy leagues in 2004.

plus the fact that he signed for a average of 3 million, which is what the Marlins have on the table, I expect this to get done later today.

Didnt the Blue Jays trade for Ted Lily and gave up Bobby Kielty?

Why would they non tender him then?

lilly is set in stone in the jays rotation, they wont non-tender him

hmmm, alright, i like it, i think it'll work.....does this mean "see ya later loop"? i would be sad to see him go :( ........i cant see him being anything but a marlin

I would sign Moss, use him as a #5 til AJ returns, then drop him in the pen. Could be a very good setup reliever or even, dare i say it, closer. Also, would like to see Robert Person get a shot in ST - but that is just me, and probably only me...

Armas would be a nice luxury, could be great trade bait...

Hasn't Moss come out of the pen before?

JMO I think "IF" this goes down, Looper will be non-tender BUT Marlins will try and resign him at a lower price.
