And this is the very problem with this season. It's a little scary. 

Damn this is the same Travis Snider who was with the Jays almost a decade ago. He hasn't been in the majors since 2015. Why is this guy being added?

He was the emergency catcher with Rays and Pirates too. For whatever reason, he's seen as the guy who can toss on the equipment in an emergency.

Mike Mordecai did a pretty good job when we needed him.

Sean Rodriguez occasionally catches bullpen sessions. I'm sure there are plenty of players who can catch if needed yet have never had to do it in a game so I wouldn't look at how many games played as a catcher.

And remember, it is very rare for an emergency catcher to ever be used anyway.
