October 3, 20205 yr Sad night for the baseball community. In the conversation for greatest pitcher ever. RIP
October 3, 20205 yr RIP. One of the best pitchers ever. Quote "Don’t dig in against Bob Gibson, he'll knock you down. He'd knock down his own grandmother if she dared to challenge him. Don't stare at him, don't smile at him, don't talk to him. He doesn't like it. If you happen to hit a home run, don't run too slow, don't run too fast. If you happen to want to celebrate, get in the tunnel first. And if he hits you, don't charge the mound, because he's a Gold Glove boxer. I'm like, damn, what about my seventeen-game hitting streak? That was the night it ended." - Hank Aaron
October 3, 20205 yr Great and honest little video here. Tells you a good bit about Bob and his character. Always laughed when he said some hitters thought he absolutely hated them because of facial expressions he made on the mound and he says, "nah, I don't hate you man, I just can't see! Trying to get the catcher's signs." Of course that ended up scaring batters more because now you have someone throwing upper 90s and he can't see! One of the great ones. May he rest peacefully. 😔 Thank you, Bob.
October 4, 20205 yr On 10/3/2020 at 8:42 AM, Michael said: Not sure if this happened but I laughed. happened. both parties pretty much confirmed it later on. Gibson often was snarly to coaches or catchers who dared walk onto his mound when he pitched.
