Going into 2020 most people would have said it didn't resemble a playoff team either yet they did get there and even made it past round 1.  This team has playoff pitching, at least enough pitching to GET to the playoffs. 

 

A If they get utterly blown away by an offer for Marte sure, trade him but don't trade him just to trade him and save money.  Unless you want another rebuild - and in 3-5 more years from now, Sandy, Pablo, and maybe even Rogers via arb process will start to be too expensive and become "trade bait" then what, you say "well, gotta trade 'em"?

 

AT SOME POINT YOU HAVE TO INVEST IN YOUR TEAM!  Marte is a good player and by far the best bat on this team.  You keep him to be competitive even if you overpay for a shorter deal.  Front load it if you have to in order to make him more tradeable as his skills diminish later on in the deal.  They have PLENTY of money and should have already spent a portion of it on bringing JT back.
