Kendall in Teal?

Featured Replies

I would perfer kendall.

This guy is a good contact hitter and has very good speed. he can also play multiple positions. Something Redmond or castro wont do.

I dont for the same reason pubes mentioned, but Kendall IS better than Redmond.

BTW: Redmond has being working at 1b and he did play one game at third last year.(1 inning)

Choi is better suited at 1st than redmond.

Redmond cannot hit good why would he play firstbase?

Since when has offense had to do with your defensive position?

And he IS a career .290 hitter.

just goin back..remember in 2001 (i think it was) where the marlins Charles Johnson got injured for a period of time..they had to switch remond and castro at the Cather position..they would hit at the *th spot in the lineup, not very impressive if u ask me..and thats before the team was in contendership..i guess wut im trynna say is..id rather have kendall who is a proven Catcher at half price..then trade him next year in the offseason, and keep our bullpen which isnt as bad as sum may put it..i mean we did win a championship with that same bullpen..and we added a few relievers..than to have to switch between redman and castro at the 7 or 8 spot..kendall would be put at the 3rd spot where pudge was at..conclusion equals kendall over redman/castro combination any day

Wild Card, you have repeatedly said that Castro/Redman would match Pudge's production next year, and Kendall is by far a lesser player than Pudge, so by your logic Castro/Redman would exceed Kendall's production. So why would you want Kendall?

For one, CASTRO will match Pudges production. By the time May rolls around, Redmond is going to get far less AB's than most think.

But when you can get a guy like Kendall that gets on-base at a .399 clip and could very possibly win a batting title (two things Ramon Castro will not do), you don't pass it up.

I still have all the confidence in the world in Castro, but I've always like Kendall, and you cannot deny the fact that he is a great hitter and that he would be welcomed onto this team with open arms.

And he IS a career .290 hitter. In how many AB....because he hasnt gotten many at bats in his WHOLE career.

Not to mention that Redmond also has a .355 career OBP as well.

yea but compare that to kendall's numbers. you will still have redmond over kendall?

Kendall: .304 in 4032 AB.

I dont know but i rather have Kendall than Redmond.

I have a few friends that are Pirates fans and I never hear anything real positive about Jason Kendall. He seems to be one of these guys that always seems to have a good batting average, but never comes through in the clutch. Notice his RBI totals throughout his career. They've never been real impressive. I think the most he's ever had was 75 and that was a few years back...Granted, he's played on a bad team, but these friends of mine watch him day in and day out and they wouldn't mind seeing him leave Pittsburgh.....I'd rather stick with the duo of Castro/Redmond over Kendall.
