Going to my first game at loanDepot Park tomorrow

Featured Replies

I've been to several games at Marlins Park, the last being Opening Week 2018 against the Red Sox. Never been to this newfangled "loanDepot Park" though.

A lot has seemingly changed since my last visit:

-Jeter has come and gone

-New uniforms

-Home run sculpture go bye bye

-Derek Dietrich also go bye bye 😞

How is the park these days? I'm driving down from Orlando and scored sweet seats right behind home plate for dirt cheap because the team is bad, and probably also because we're playing the Indiguardiandians.

Sorry if this is a stupid post. I'm actually really psyched because this is my first baseball game in six years (last time I saw the Marlins play was later that same year, 2018, in Atlanta at Truist "Don't Call Me SunTrust" Park.

Do you all go to games still, or does this message board solely exist to talk about how much we all hate the team, and tell Das to shut up?

I'm excited, sorry, lol.

I went to my first game in a few years last year, but I have 0 plans on supporting this team by going this year - their inaction in the offseason was inexcusable.

That said, major changes from your last "Marlins Park" experience include:

- completely revamped concessions - I'd suggest taking a lap around the whole concourse and checking out all options before choosing one

- Marlins museum - this is in the old "Taste of Miami" location - it's not very big, but has some Marlins history/memorabilia .

-bar in the front entrance - this may fall under concessions, but they have a big brewery bar in the main concourse entrance behind home plate.

-removed fish tanks behind home plate

-Home run sculpture is now outside - there's now a bar where it used to be.

-Standing room sections - these are there, but not worth seeing (they're technically their own ticket)

-Clevelander is gone - it's now called something else

-The field is now turf, not grass - this doesn't affect your fan experience, but just an FYI.

-Bright colors removed - they removed all of the bright colors (greens, reds, yellows) in favor of grays in the concourse and navy blue - definitely gives it a more sterile/generic look

Those are the major changes I can think of off the top of my head.  If there's anything i missed, I'm sure others will chime in.

I really miss the green walls. I enjoyed all the pops of colour throughout the park. It looks like any other park now on TV. Very boring.

I agree, I especially liked the different colored zones in the concourse, even if they didn't keep the lime green walls.

I know some folks on here cheered when the lime green walls were removed in favor of a generic blue wall. We call those people boring - I'm sure one or two will chime in though to tell us visionaries how wrong we are. Stay strong, brother.

Thanks for the info, y’all. Really looking forward to seeing something called a Roddery Muñoz pitch tonight. Can’t wait!

I thought you went Saturday?

You said "tomorrow" in the thread on Friday.

What'd you think of the park?

I did go Saturday. I posted this thread Friday morning (saying I'm going "tomorrow,") and responded with my extreme excitement to see Roddery pitch "tonight," on Saturday, which is the day he pitched.

Drugs are bad, @rmc523.

I thought the park was great, a lot like I remembered it but also quite different. It also being Puerto Rican heritage night, which I was unaware of beforehand, the atmosphere was fantastic and the crowd was solid too. The announced attendance was 15.6K and it actually felt like a good number of people were there.

The park was definitely "watered down" from years ago, but I really enjoyed it. Too bad the freaking offense couldn't muster even one damn run for me.

My bad, I read your Saturday post as Sunday and I was confused lol.

I haven't watched at all, so I can't give the "eye" evaluation of attendance, but official figures have shown that people are for some reason still showing up this year despite them being terrible......unless Bruce is pulling a Loria and announcing "tickets sold" vs. people actually in the building.....though even then, Bruce wouldn't be able to afford inflating the numbers by buying tickets at $1 a piece.

Well the tickets I got for a Saturday night game, 3rd row behind home plate/the field level VIP fancy cushion seats, were $39 each. Again, for a Saturday night game. Maybe people are coming because the tickets are just dirt cheap.

Interesting - did you get them through the team website or a third party / resell site or app?

Actually bought them direct from the team (sorry.)

Well, at least they've gotten smart and realized they can't charge an arm and a leg for a terrible product.
