Fredi Gonzalez

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Fredi Gonzalez was recently fired by the Orioles as their bench coach.

What do you say the Marlins bring him back on? I mean he is like the most OG member of the Marlins organization you can find when you think about it. Being their first ever manager in their organization starting back in 1992 for their minor league squad. And as we all know their 3rd base coach from ‘99-‘00, their Manager from ‘07-‘10 and then back as their 3rd base coach from ‘16-‘19.

I think it’s time for another go round with Fredi G!

I know that most everyone seems to hate him. But I mean.. the Marlins anyways are going to probably hire some no name no experience guy most likely. Might as well be someone with experience.

My vote is for Fredi!

Who is with me?

I met him, he is a really nice guy.

But I think we can do better with our next manager.

Maybe so.. but honestly I don’t really think the manager will make a really huge impact if the players stay the same.

Case in point.. put Skip on the 2024 Dodgers as manager and they are still a winning team if not playoffs. Put Dave Roberts on the 2024 Marlins and they are at best 15-20 under .500

I don’t mean to debate but when you say the Marlins could do better at manager next year.. to me doesn’t really seem like it would make much of a difference if they put the same players out there. However I do have a feeling that whoever Bendix brings in.. probably Bendix adds better players to the team since it’s his manager pick and that would make him look like a genius if they start winning more games. 😂

Naw dawg.

Yeah expected that from you.. @Michael is a well know Fredi G hater round these parts.

Keep in mind that Fredi did lead the Marlins to back to back winning seasons in ‘08 and ‘09. But as in my earlier point I made that had very little to do with him and a lot to do with their roster and rotation at the time.

But still 2 out of the 7 winning seasons is nothing to laugh at.. actually having only 7 winning seasons out of 32 seasons in their history is pretty sad. So wouldn’t be the worse person they could hire.

Hire Fredi. Nothing to lose!

Sure - he also made sure we missed the playoffs both years.
