Orlando baseball effort says it has secured $1.5 billion to bring Rays to Central Florida

Interesting news, but I'll file this under "I'll believe it when I see it."

A couple big issues here:

1) Rays already have an owner, he'd have to sell the team to this group.....that'd be $1.5B just to acquire the team in order to move it.

2) They'd have to build a park there for the team....that's another $1-1.5B (granted, that can be a mix of public and private funds, but still...

This article is saying they supposedly have LOI and verbal commitments of $1.5B, which is only half what it would take for this operation to happen, unless they're somehow going to convince Stu to move and keep ownership somehow, but then he'd have to let these investors "in" so it's worthwhile for them.

The location they're looking at is right by Aquatica on International Drive, where traffic is already bad. Lol.

$1.7B domed stadium, though!

As a resident of Orlando, please bring them here.

Yup I’ve been in that area enough times going to the parks to know it can be a disaster sometimes lol. But yeah I think the team would make more sense there at this point. Seems like the Tampa area isn’t going to work for a variety of reasons.

You don't trust the guy that brightens (most of) your gamedays with stupid AI images?
