Well, Cabs won't be playing LF he'll be in right, and there is no way Burrell is better than him. Did you forget about Conine? I would've put the marlins in 1st in the CF category and you have them last.

I didn't forget about Conine, but I did go on espn.com just to check if these people were still on the roster, and Conine wasn't listed, so i put Banks on there. No way is Pierre better than Andruw Jones, the greatest defensive CFer since Willie Mays. Plus Jones is better offensively. I'd also take Byrd over Pierre easily. Plus Burrell had on off year last year and IMO Cabrera is still unproven.

Pierre is the most important player in the league. Without him, the Marlins don't make the playoffs last year. You take Andruw out of Atlanta and they can still get by. Byrd blows.

And Cabrera is in right field, and the onyl reason Abreu is over him is because Miguel needs to play a full season.

Miguel >>>>> Burrell talent wise, for sure.

And this is coming from a Canes fan.

And he is better than Chipper too.

you can make an argument for Jones over Pierre, but byrd over pierre is ludicrous, absurd, stupid- whatever you want to call it.

you can make an argument for Jones over Pierre

No, you really can't.

you can make an argument for Jones over Pierre

No, you really can't. Pierre is average. His OPS last year was .734, and his lifetime is .729. Jones was .851 in 03 and .836 lifetime. And defensively, Jones is the best in baseball.

And as for Byrd, he was .784 in 03 and .774 lifetime

ops is ovverrated- when you hit over .300, get 200 hits, and have pierres speed, he's the best CF in the national league, imo.

I can't think of anybody better off the top of my head.

Andruw is better than Pierre.

Conine is better than Burrell.

Ramirez is probably better than Pavano.

Milton may be better than Willis. Too early to say.

Pierre is average at best key word: average, as in, Batting Average

batting average= meaningless

OPS is way more important.

his OBP is average, his slugging percentage is real low.

He's average

He's average

Oh jesus.

The game is played on big grass patches Giants, not white pieces of paper with little black numbers on it.

To let you guys now the braves rotation is ortiz, hampton, byrd, ramirez, thomson

Whos smith?? and you named two braves pitchers in the 5th starter comparison

Myers/Pavano/Thomson

Marlins/Phillies/thomson

He's average

OPS means nothing to Pierre. he's never going to have a high slugging percentage, because that's not his game. What he does do is get on base, steal bases, score runs and do all the little things a team needs to be successful.

Wait, you mean you can't just compare players by looking at a couple of numbers and seeing who's higher?

There's more to baseball than that?

NO WAY!

OPS is a pretty good stat to measure a player's offensive ability. Raw statistic though. It can't measure how much Pierre changes the game. Players with speed can force opponents to hurry their throws causing more errors. They alter pitch selection, defensive arrangement. So many other things that we haven't found a way to measure preoperly in statistics.

Why is Perez the catcher for the Braves? It is Eli Marrero and Eddy Perez is not even on the Braves anymore.

Estrada, Lieby, Kobe: 1. Phils 2. Braves 3. Fish

Brett "The Hitman" Myers, Ramirez, Commitee: Phils, Braves, Fish

Bullpen: Phils, Braves, Marlins

Closers: Braves, Phils, Marlins

Managers: Braves, Marlins, Phils

Stadium: Phils all the way :p

Im a Braves fan, but I do have to admit, all around Juan Pierre is a much better weapon than Andruw. If we're talking about strictly defense, Andruw blows him away. But when it comes down to it, Juan Pierre brings so much more to the table in the role that he plays. Andruw is a very solid player, but I have to say that Pierre is the best Centerfielder in the game today. Bar None

Count me off the Pierre love train. At this point, he's better than Byrd, but come on - look at Andruw's career numbers. Pierre had a good 2003, but he stunk it up old school in 2002. I would need to see more consistency from him before I choose him over an all-around dynamo like Andruw Jones.
