January 12, 200422 yr Beltran is the best CF in the game. Pierre is more important though, because what he lacks in power he makes up for in being a sheer force of destruction. And as far as best goes Pierre is #2 anyways, so it doesn't matter.

I think that you can not say that podsednik is better than pierre until he is successful in more than 1 season. I think something is a little suspicious when you dont get in the majors until your 28? This year could have been a fluke and i wont say that he is better until he proves to me that he can do it again this season.

Byrd is going to be better ballplayer and you have hundreds of Prospect sites to tell you that.

Would you rather have a fan favorite, built on speed and smarts with 200 hits, a consistent .300 batting average, a tough bat to strike out, and a clutch hitter with a World Series ring, or a man who scored less runs than Pierre, struck out 9 times for every stolen base (JP almost stole 2 bases per K) who has had one good season and hasn't made a name for himself? Huh?

Your other claims are pretty weak. I'll have to do more research in baseball-reference to dispute them, but Pierre's 2002 season? In a word: s***ty. Edit: My bad. Pierre wasn't too bad in 2002, but he definitely dipped a bit from 2001. In any case, his career OBP is .357. Not exactly the stuff of league-best leadoff men. Roberts never led the league in SBs, but Tony Womack did. In 2000, Goodwin, Eric Young, and Womack were 2-4 in the league. Goodwin, Young, and Womack. That's like the anti Tinker to Evers to Chase for Cubs fans. Ew
January 13, 200422 yr Well, I don't believe Juan Pierre has ever been a power hitter (which is why Coor's hurt him) hitting with Chipper Jones, Gary Sheffield, and Javy Lopez (amongst others). That is some nice lineup protection if you ask me.
