727 RBI from the starters, eh? And 130 from first base, no less.

I sure hope you're right, though.

Well we had 710 last year, thats Counting Conine for the whole season which we will have him this year and 107 from first base last year as well.

and 107 from first base last year as well.

Neither Hee Seop Choi nor Wil Cordero are Derrek Lee. Of course not

but Hee Seop Choi AND Jeff Conine combined can put up "derrek lee like" numbers, since it will be a platoon.

This is what I'm hoping

I figured I'd wait til March, but everyone else is doing it, so what the heck.....

2004 Record: 87-75

Lenny Harris: .233, 1 HR, 12 RBI, 0 SB

Wil Cordero: .260, 9 HR, 49 RBI, 0 SB

Mike Mordecai: .229, 2 HR, 9 RBI, 3 SB

Mike Redmond: .287, 1 HR, 14 RBI, 0 SB

but Hee Seop Choi AND Jeff Conine combined can put up "derrek lee like" numbers, since it will be a platoon.

But Jeff Conine will not being platooning at 1st base. It's Choi and Cordero that will be platooning.

Record: 85-77, 3rd place in NL East

Starters: Josh Beckett/Brad Penny/A.J. Burnett/Carl Pavano/D-Train (Oliver will play until Burnett comes back)

Lineup: Pierre, Castillo, Cabrera, Lowell, Conine, Castro, Cordero, A-Gone

Benitez: 3-5, 3.05 ERA, 32 Saves, 4 blown

Other predictions: Castro struggles, and the organization calls up Josh Willingham, who wins the ROY. Choi struggles, and platoons with Cordero. Bullpen struggles when Neu, Bump, and the other misfits have bad years. Starters will have good years, but the only good relievers will be Benitez and Fox. Bench does well with the addition of Cordero and Easley. The holes at C and 1B hurt the team too greatly, miss the WC. The loss of runs produced kills the team.

Positional ratings:

Catcher- C-

First Base- C

Second Base- B+

Shortstop- C

Third Base- A

Outfield- B overall

Starting pitching- B at first, B+ when Burnett returns

Closer/Setup Men- A

Rest of Bullpen- D

Manager- A+

Good moves:

-Replacing Looper with Benitez

-Adding Easley and Cordero to the bench

-Keeping the starters together

-Signing Oliver to fill in for Burnett, rather than Wayne

Bad moves:

-Reliance on Castro/Redmond, Choi, and Cabrera

-Not signing anyone for the 'pen beyond Benitez

-Heavy loss of RBI's with the departure of Pudge, Lee, and Encarnacion

-Re-signing Alex Gonzalez

I am going to stand by the predictions I made earlier for the offensive numbers, although they are very modest:

Offensive predictions

2004 Record: 87-75

I think this is also a modest number, we could just as easily win 95 games, but I think there are too many question marks at this point to realistically feel we are in the playoffs. There are too many other good teams and questions which in turn have to be answered. I would be more comfortable after Spring Training.

2004 Starters:

AJ 6-2 3.57

Beckett 16-8 3.16

Penny 13-9 3.82

Pavano 17-10 3.25

Oliver 11-5 4.25

Willis 12-13 4.50

Benitez 43SV 3.69

2004 Offense (Starters):

Juan Pierre .292 0HR 35RBI 63SB

Luis Castillo .301 3HR 46RBI 20SB

Miguel Cabrera .275 20HR 83RBI

Mike Lowell .285 28HR 100RBI

Jeff Conine .283 20HR 85RBI

Hee-Seop Choi .261 18HR 67RBI

Ramon Castro .267 19HR 72RBI

Alex Gonzalez .260 15HR 70RBI

2004 All-Stars:

Josh Beckett

Carl Pavano

Benitez

2004 Gold Glove:

Castillo

I think we have a very good team and the chemistry is very much in place. Lead by Trader Jack, this team will remain focused and Burnett is going to make his presence felt in the 2nd half of the season to push us in the playoff race. But I think this year we fall a little short because there is too much competition with the Astros, Cards, Cubs in the central - the division winner and wild card should come out of there. We have to win our division to go to the postseason I feel. I think Pavano is going to shine this year and Beckett will rise to being one of the most dominate pitchers in the game.

My bad...Cordero and Choi is what I meant

And you feel that Choi and Cordero are 27 RBI better than Derrek Lee?

Future GM - Bad moves:

-Reliance on Castro/Redmond, Choi, and Cabrera

You will bow down to Cabrera's almighty power

and 107 from first base last year as well.

Neither Hee Seop Choi nor Wil Cordero are Derrek Lee. Hee Seop Choi is a BETTER fit for this team and this stadium on the offensive end. He wont put up the same power numbers but he wont K more than Lee did and certainly has an opportunity to be more 'clutch' than Lee. That aint saying much either. The only things Lee has over Choi is speed (which isnt necessary and most of those steals were achieved with Torborg than with McKeon) and defense. But Choi is not far behind in that department either.

Wow Geemoney, you and I predicted the exact same wins this year...

Great minds think alike? Damn right...

I am predicting we draw 2M this season too AND get a stadium done...but I think it is going to shock us all HOW it gets done...

AND get a stadium done...but I think it is going to shock us all HOW it gets done...

I agree with that... :shifty
