I agree with that. However, it is true that they did have a bad rap for a while. I don't think you could go as far to say that it was worst than the blacks... No race or ethnic group has had it or still has it as bad as the blacks. I don't know the first Italian slave. Personally, I think they Indians got the worst out of everyone.

Yeah, because we all know New York City = the entire US. Around the 1900s, the Irish were practically running NYC, so I don't see how you can say they were of a lower class than blacks. It wasn't Irish people getting lynched in the Draft Riots 40 years earlier.

Well, italians weren't around the country at first. We were confined to eastern city ghettos. even today, almost every italian in america is either in conneticut, new york, new jersey, or florida. Simpyl put, in urban areas the italians had it worse initially, and the ghettos with 14 hour work days were as bad as they got.

just like 80% of all immigrant groups were confined to new york at first in most cases.
