SorianoFanHFW
he's gone. forget about him. He was overrated. move on. agreed, choi will have a better obp in 3 years, if not this year.
DaGreatOne
he's gone. forget about him. He was overrated. move on. agreed, choi will have a better obp in 3 years, if not this year. Well Lee was no slouch in OBP. He had one in the .380's last season. But like I said before Choi and Cordero can easily match the offensive output that Lee put up last year. Shamrock
One of my favorite Marlins (wasnt here long enough to be an all-time) ,but I knew he had to go.
SorianoFanHFW
dagreatone, Choi will be an on base machine. I have a lot of faith in this one.
DaGreatOne
dagreatone, Choi will be an on base machine. I have a lot of faith in this one. Oh I know this guy can get on base at a high rate and wouldnt doubt if in the future he has an OBP over .400 but next year for him to have over .380 is going to be tough. SorianoFanHFW
Agreed. He's definitely a very talented player. And cheap. If the marlins retained Urbina and or Redman or Pudge, they would be major contenders again with Burnett coming back. I would honestly say the marlins are underdogs to the phillies. However, Choi will be with you guys for years and you can acquire a couple more players with your pitching an be in excellent shape.
PBMarlin
Of all the ex-Marlins this season, Lee is the one (the only one) I would have wanted to see stay. That being said, we got our best deal for DLee (Choi and Nannini), plus we dumped salary...so overall it was an excellent move, and paved the way for us to sign Lowell and Castillo to long term contracts. So all things being considered, it was a sound baseball move. Get over it. That's the business of baseball.
AJB34
Who's Derrek Lee? that choker guy yea, that choker guy who came up with a gigantic clutch hit in game 6 of the NLCS against that guy named mark prior. u know, THAT choker guy :lol

Fish2Repeat
there is no way the fish would have panned out the money for lee. while the money from pudge is undoubtably there, this team centers itself on wise spending. Lee is a great glove, but his bat was so erratic, certainly not worth that kind of long term money

Wild Card
Moved to the appropriate board Btw... for all the Lee lovers... Move on... I'm already sick and tired about this... I'm the biggest Lee fan there is, but I'm on to bigger and better things (Choi). Derrek is a great player that can do just about anything on the field for you, and a great guy to boot. I hope he hits a home run in all of the Cubs' 162 losses. :thumbup
Wild Card
BTW: For SorianoFan, Choi's OBP last season was .132 points higher than his batting average, which is obviously a great differential. I think a lot of us have that same feeling about him.

nc marlin
damn i liked lee too....i wish it was any team but the cubs Like the Braves or Phillies? At least we don't have to face him in our own division. I'd much rather see him with the Cubs than playing for any team in the NL East. I think a lot of us have that same feeling about him. I know that, you guys pulled off an awesome trade there. If this guy bats .280, his obp will likely be in the .400s...he can really surprise. http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/choihe01.shtml
hot4beckett
It's kinda sd Florida loft him. Although I think Choi is gonna do good. Lee was good for us. But oh, well, i guess we have to move on...........
catchoftheday
I wont deny that im gonna miss Lee.... he was a cool cat. he did make me very frustrated the past few years, I always expected those 40 homers they raved about ... i wanted to see it done as a marlin but ohh well. He still looks nasty in a Cubs uni ... and thats a nice uni Remember when he demanded to be traded after we shipped Floyd to Montreal. haha Floyd back at home in montreal... that lasted a while.
