Posted March 8, 200420 yr Any one worry about this guy? I'm hoping he ain't a bust.I thought this guy was a great hitter?Hopefully he will start hitting like people think he can because if this continues the cubs just robbed the Fish.I know it was mainly a salary dump move but this guy continues to look lost like he did for most of his rookie campaign. I think we might be seeing Wil Cordero alot more than people want to see him.
March 8, 200420 yr Author It's Spring..It's early.... some people take a little longer to warm up... Hope you're right. Is not like the guy hasn't been playing Baseball because he played some winter ball and he also struggled at the plate. After his short sting playing winter ball,he was training in his native country.I see same Choi who struggled for most of last year.

March 8, 200420 yr Give the guy a break...He needs AB's to develop its not going to happen right away....Look at D Lee...He had a real bad first year and with playing time turend it around
March 8, 200420 yr After spending the winter at one of the premier baseball academies in South Korea working on a new stance and his hitting generally, the first thing the Marlins did was change his batting stance again. In no way am I saying they (the Marlins) were wrong to do so but it's going to take some time for him to get used to what they expect of him. The guy is carrying the weight of his nation's baseball fans on his shoulders as he makes this transition. It's much too early (agreeing with Ramp here) to write the guy off. Let's see where he is at the end of the month.
March 8, 200420 yr Author I'm not saying he will be scrub! I'm just concern that this guy hasn't progress by looking at his winter ball stats and what h has done so far. It's extremely early but I see pattern developing here.

Big Choi barely played winter ball. The day after he was traded he left his Mexican League team and flew to Korea so any winter ball stats are abbreviated at best.
March 8, 200420 yr As I mentioned a few days ago.... Choi's performance both on the field and at the plate......he's leaving plenty of room for improvement. To his credit, he handled very nicely a throw in the dirt from Sea Bass in the first inning yesterday. A real nice scoop. His whiffs at the plate are another story. Considering the amount of playing time he is getting, it is clear they are giving him as much practice as possible to hone his skills. There's still a month to go until opening day.....so let's hope we see more positive changes.
March 8, 200420 yr Yeah, it's still early, but time will be running out for him if he doesn't improve.
March 8, 200420 yr *Looks at Spring Training Schedule* Yeah, we've played four games. How about you give the guy a damn break?
March 8, 200420 yr Choi will be fine, just give him time. He's going surprise a lot of people this year.
March 8, 200420 yr I remember all those Cabrera haters who wanted him benched or sent down when he went 1 for 20 or something like that. Let Choi take his time, we are in no rush.
March 8, 200420 yr Lets see how that turned out for us and Cabs... Choi will be a good hitter and addition to the lineup because he is a line drive hitter with power that the club has been lacking since Floyd was traded...

It's funny to look back at when there was all that talk during the trade deadline, how many people on this board wanted Cabs sent back down and pick up a guy at the deadline. Boy am I glad the FO didn't listen to the people on this board.

First off Choi hasn't look good at all since coming to the Majors. He didn't even put up decent stats in winter ball.Cabs actually was hittign the ball hard during his streak unlike Choi who looks unimpressive according to my friend who was in attendance for a 4 games.Yes,I know its early but I'm somewhat concern this guy will never live up to his hype and Marlins got nothing in return for D.Lee. On the other hand, If Choi struggles then it would give Nunez an opportunity to start.
