Beckett is overrated
It's not that Beckett doesn't have the goods......it might be more accurate to say he isn't a very smart pitcher.....prone to throwing mistake pitches. He still believes he can overpower anyone, and gets burned a lot because of it. We can only hope some maturity will do wonders for him. 604134 Ok. So he'd be a great pitcher if he was different. Estute evaluation, you must have been the guy that scouted Kaz Matsui.

Beckett is overrated
Yeah, Beckett sucks. The Mets wouldn't take him off our hands if we offered him for a bag of balls. :whistle 604133 You're right. He's so good. I'll give you Tom Glavine for him. And why not, I'll throw in Piazza.

Benitez is Gone
I don't know what you guys are so sad about. Benitez was an absolute choke. You just didn't get to experience it because you were not in a playoff race and he was on the DL when you needed him the most. If you ever managed to create a wild card team again (I don't know how it happened the 1st two times) it's likely Benitez would blow about 5 saves and have 3 losses. It's almost incredible how this guy can consistently blow saves in the post-season. You'd think he'd occasionally have an inning where they hit 3 line drives at people. But no, it doesn't. He's guaranteed to lose, it's truly amazing.

The Atlanta Graves Win Again?
And I hate to point this out, but.... Redman = Mark Redman (Lefty pitcher from the 03 team) Redmond = Backup catcher 604311 I especially enjoyed when the two of them were their own battery. Fun times.

Hi Everyone!!
Wow.. you're quite the douchebag ISTY. Welcome! 604232 Thanks nice to meet you too Go NY METS!!!

Hi Everyone!!
he talks about his high IQ to compensate for 'other' things 604126 Brilliant MR. Pshychologist. At least I don't need an avatar of 2 women going at it to prove to the rest of the world I'm straight. Congratulations, you like girls. Big Accomplishment. When one take your heart, beats it with a sledgehammer, steps on it, carves it with a spoon, and then smashes it against the wall, I won't feel sorry for you. (It'll eventually happen, theyre all out to get us.)

Hi Everyone!!
he talks about his high IQ to compensate for 'other' things 604126 Ramp, I just read his profile. He's 19. Go figure. :mischief2 He is so good that he was playing minor league ball at 17. Hmm...does anyone else smell some bulls***? :whistle 604130 No, I was 18. I turn 20 on February 9th. I finished the majority of the my senior yr by doubling in my junior yr and then taking classes in the summer so i could graduate HS. This wasn't a bright move for me for numerous reasons. After I gave up on pitching I found out I actually had to go BACK to high school if I wanted to go to college, because of some BS about going to a SUNY school and taking the New York State REGENTS exams. But basically I played in what would have been my senior yr of HS and am now in my sophomore yr of college. So I just say 2 yrs, Im sorry if I am not accurate enough for you.

Hi Everyone!!
I encountered a couple people like you in law school. Usually the people that went around bragging about having a high IQ were the biggest morons in the class. If you were such a genius, you'd have enough confidence in your abilities that you wouldn't run around looking for validation from strangers. Most people that act like you aren't that impressive in the real world. 604124 Eh, I could see that point but it's not really that I'm seeking validation from strangers. I seek more to piss off strangers. Hence my handle. When I stated that whenever you disagree with me you are wrong, it was more a less a joke. When the poster responded bragging about his massive 23 spring training at bats, it just irritated me.

Beckett is overrated
vury overratted. he was MVP in !!03!!. hes so old now. he doesnt put up that good numbers.he needs a major attitude change 603954 Again this is on the basis of 2 starts. When you look at Beckett's career adjusted ERA+ you can see that he is not a very good pitcher. I don't care how many Yankees he K'd in the WS. It's not a big enough sample.

Hi Everyone!!
Welcome...another one gets bit... 603919 Hi there. I am new too. I joined a while ago but never actually made a post. All you need to know about me is that I played minor league baseball two years ago, mostly with the Capital City Bombers and I have an IQ of 157. So basically, anytime you disagree with me on something baseball related, you are wrong. My family lines are also originally from Aruba. My grandfather was actually a lord but he abdicated to come to America to try to become an actor. That didn't work out for him but since we still have technically royal lines I would like to be called Sir. 603978 well guess what buddy i have the right to disagree with you cause i played baseball at UF for 3 years, played minors for 3,and have 23 spring training AB's,and am now a scout for the Colorado Rockiesi have more expeirience than you so guess what u disagree with me and your wrong...for the rest of the board i only wrote this cause new guy here thinks his s*** dont stink cause he played a little pro ball...i know there are people in here that have never stepped on a ball field and have corrected me so dont go bu acual baseball experience...That Is All.. 604036 You are forgetting one thing, the 157 IQ. Also, I don't spell the word "acual" wrong. Whoa' I'm so sorry I never had any spring training IP. You got me there. I realized after a year I sucked and got out of it. I guarantee in 6 years I'll make more money than you. Enjoy your 23 At-Bats, Garth Brooks had more. I think he had a basehit in 1999 for the Madres. Someone look up who gave that up, I'm guessing it was a Met.

Trade with Yanks/DBacks to get ARod...
It was A-Rod. You don't mistake somebody like him. Im not saying he left soley because the chick was flirting with him .. he looks to take working out really seriously 603730 Well I was kidding sort of. It's not like sex is 100% of a players life, only 96 or so. Besided he is married or something I think. As if that matters. Except in the case of Robin Ventura. That man was the symbol of class. IF I ever found out he was bopping post-game groupies my life would most likely be over as we know it.

Buckner
Didnt the yankees win it in 2000. So they have won this century 603804 Technically that was last century. There was no year 0.

The Atlanta Graves Win Again?
I wouldn't touch Lowe. He has been one tier above garbage his entiee career and will command too big of a contract because everyone knows his name and he had a lucky post-season. (See Josh Beckett)

Trade with Yanks/DBacks to get ARod...
j/k No .. I didn't ask him about it. Some really hot chick tried flirting with him and he left. 603307 Then it wasn't A-Rod. When I played for Cap City, I wouldn't have been caught dead "walking away." No player was. I'd say maybe it's different for older players but we would have a few older guys on the team as uniform fillers and there really was no different. In fact, they were worse one guy i knew tried to get with a 16 yr old hot dog vendor. I'd call him a scumbag, but I kinda wanted her too. I tried love once, relationships with dumb hot girls are the way to go. But I degress.... The Marlins will nto get A-Rod because the Yankees will not be giving him up. Now that the Yankees have blown a 3-0 series lead excet Steinbrenner's moronocity to multiply by 10. Every FA who ever had a good season will be a Yankee next year, mark my words. That means all-stars like A-Rod arent going anywhere.

What's the most evil thing you've ever done?
I played minor league ball for one year before I went to college. While I was with the Capital City Bombers I intentionally drilled a guy in the face with a fastball because he stole a girl I was interested in. Actually it was a groupie but if you saw her you would have done the same thing. This sounds made up but it's actually true. Since then I retired (was released with an ERA over 6) and now I attend SUNY Geneseo where I am currently trying to get a degree so I'm not out on the streets poor.

It was one year ago today...
Hopefully it wasn't held on a Sunday. Everyone in Florida would have been watching the Dolphins game. Oh and it it was on a Monday, everyone would have been watching Monday Night football because it was comprised of 2 teams that hadn't played since 2001, making for a great "matchup." Oh and if it was on a Thursday or Saturday the people of Florida might have been busy watching college football. Wait, whats the name of the Florida baseball team??? Ah F, it it's Friday. I g2g watch High School Football.

Best way to get over girlfriend/boyfriend
The answer to your question depends on what gender you are and sexual orientation. 1) If you were a man who lost a woman Women are inherintly evil and often break hearts. You will be very depressed for about 3 years and there is really nothing you can do about. You will attempt to seek methods to reduce the pain but nothing will work. If you are still friends with her this is especially horrible. You will have this great friendship, get along so well, yet she will refuse to be your girlfriend and instead try to get with some loser that either beats her or emotinally damages here, when you are sitting there completely perfect for her. Life stinks. 2) If you were a woman who lost a man There are two types of guys. Scumbags and non-scumbags. You're probably upset over a scumbag. Next time the guy in the dormitory next to you who wears glasses and is a republican asks you out, try saying yes for a change. He'll actually make you happy. Stay away from potheads that don't take showers. I know this is hard for women but just give it a shot. 3) If you were a man that lost a man Just be happy, you don't have to date women. 4) Woman who lost woman... Give me a PM 5) Paramecium who lost Amoeba Chin up, the right one-celled organism will come along one day.

Buckner
First off, the game was TIED. They still would have had to win in extra innings.. The whole Boston team had already blown the lead. Secondly, Buckner WOULDN'T have even beat Mookie to the bag. I hope this WS puts it to rest. The guy has been through enough.. Like Schilling said, now these players can be remembered for the great players they were... Buckner had over 2,700 hits in his career, BTW. 603094 No. No. No. Take this from a Mets fan. You are correct that the game was tied. The Buckner error was the last event in a string a bad ones for the BoSox. The 1st one was Mike Greenwell batting for Roger Clemens in the top of the 8th with Boston leading 3-2. Why this was allowed to happen I will never know. Clemens did have a blister or somethign but he said he was ready to go. He was like 24-6 that year and Boston boasted one of the worst bullpens to ever make it to the WS. Reliever Schiraldi promplty blew it in the 8th to tie the score at 3, and was then lucky to get through the 9th unscathed. Red Sox ALCS hero Dave Henderson homered to start the bottom of the 10th, (A man forgotten in Sox history for some reason), and Boston added a run on 2, 2 out hits to make it 5-3. In the Bottom of the 10th, Boston retired the 1st 2 Mets. This is the disaster right here. You can't blow a 2 run lead with 2 outs and no-one on. That's utterly ridiculous. Buckner's error allowed the winning run to score after the game was tied and was the finnally miscue in a hurrendous inning. Catcher Rich Gedman let a fastball slighlty inside tick off his glove for a WP, that allowed the TYING run to score. Bostonians for some reason forget this play and leave all the blame soley on poor Buckner's shoulders. As to what you said about Mookie beating Buckner to the bag, that's stupid. Buckner would have definately beat Mookie to the bag. Guys don't beat out ground balls right down the 1st baseman's line with the guy fielding it right next to the bag. I know the photo somehow makes it look like that's the case, but don't trust it, theres no way in hell that could have happened. If Buckner didn't commit the error, yes Boston still would have had to win in it the 11th. The Mets had already used their top 2 relievers and Boston had no top relievers, woulda been a toss up.

The Atlanta Graves Win Again?
Any Marlin fans wondering how Atlanta will make their team worse again for 2005 and then embarass us all by winning the division? Does anyone here know if the Marlins are actually planning the to perhaps attempt to make their team better in 05 to stop this nonsense. I don't see any other team looking to improve. We all know the Senators(Greys?) probably won't be doing much, Philadelphia is always destined to fail, and the Mets, well they have Kaz Matsui, enough said. Being most of the World Championship players are still on the team Loria might actually be able to make a contender if he opens his wallet and aquries a "Pudge Rodriguez" of 2005. Anyone know whats in store?

Beckett is overrated
Well the fact of the matter is this. You can't judge how good a guy is based on 2 starts, because he can get lucky or unlucky. Beckett was determined good based on 2 starts. Those two he pitched against the Yankees. I haven't seen his curveball break like that any other time, so yes, he's over-rated.
