Luzardo
I’m not sure what would be the best course of action, but in order to see the problem(s) they need some sample size first, after that they should break him down with a new approach system like you said. I think he’s been taught to make batters miss (sticky ball). But now he needs to make his pitches at the corners instead. A new approach is hopefully the answer and our rotation players should help as they seem to attack (approach) hitters the same way. Welcome back.

Luzardo
Do we send him down now? Maybe that should have been a better thread question.

I was talking about the trade in itself, not the other factors that lead up to the trade. Is that Terrell “love me some me” Owens in your avatar?

Luzardo
I know it’s early, but I’m wondering if anyone had any regrets or changed their mind on the Luzardo for Marte trade? In trade thread it seemed like it was well received besides a few.

Elieser Hernandez should be our closer next year *
Forgot about Eder & Guzman 😃 That rotation is how I would roll it as of now. They probably will do the service time with Cabrera, it’s better for later in the season and we are deep off anyway. I just hope they spend on bats next year. Yeah we have tradable pieces but if the injury bug hits again we need every arm just in case.

Sorry, I went a bit off the topic. Hernandez deserves the closer spot. I think at this point he shouldn’t be in the rotation. I did notice but I could have been mistaken. His fastball was only clocking in at 93-94 in his last start. I think that would be an area of concern for me.

I’d prefer they go with a 6th man rotation next year. They could even do open bullpen games if need be with all those additions I just mentioned above. The depth is so much and so good that it could be managed in so many ways that it make the Rays look elementary.

Actually, the rotation and bullpen should be stacked. The problem is identifying who, where and when with our management. Meyer, Sixto, Hernandez along with Thompson, Poteet, Neidert and Garrett would be nice.

2021 Trade Deadline Thread
I lean more on the opinion that the Angels didn’t make the trade based on their obsession that they value hitting over pitching. They gotta rank near the top of stubborn teams in that area. If Marsh batted right, I’d probably would be reluctantly ok with it. At this stage of the game we need a proven player at CF not another tooly lefty prospect who strikes out often. He’s never hit over .300 but once in the minors with below average power at best right now. Way risky right now for me.

Brinson is probably just on a hot streak. His approach has improved, we’ve been saying that for a while though. His minor league numbers (small sample) this year haven’t been eye dropping so there’s that. Did management do him wrong? I believe so, he’s put in the work and it’s not like the current bench players are any better. He could be a nice solid depth piece but he’s not someone you can build around for next year. Nice dinger btw. I’m gonna watch it 50 times because it’s kinda hard to believe.

Marte Extension? (The Continuation)
I didn’t mind trading Marte as long as it improved a direct and immediate need for next year. The disaster relation in Mish’s tweet was a bit over the top is all. It just had that FO ring a ding that bothers my ears. 4/45 is actually a surprising number as it’s lower than rumored. If it is true, I’m conflicted of what the Marlins final offer actually was. A 4th year shouldn’t have been a deal breaker. What’s done is done. I’m glad for Marte and hope the A’s extend him.

Marte Extension? (The Continuation)
Not sure why Mish thinks the 4th year would have been so disastrous. He did say it was acceptable for a team with understanding. There is a case that we should be one of those teams though with no immediate help at CF and a clean payroll balance along with an open budget.

This is the kinda crap we seen all year. I don’t see how the players who truly care will continue to do so. This is borderline abuse.

That and they are trying to duplicate what the A’s do but it failed miserably. It can work and I think it could have this year, but not under Don.

“Hess is out of minor league options though potentially controllable all the way through the 2025 season” This was reason enough being so cheap.

It will block one of them. You’re also forgetting Sixto and Hernandez unless they want them in the pen. Point is, we don’t improve right away with an already abundance of pitchers, some who should have been traded at the deadline. (Hernandez, Neidet, Sixto, Garrett, Thompson, etc) They just keep on hoarding without fixing anything. Look, I don’t like knocking my team but the division is up for grabs now and we have to watch and wonder, what if the FO didn’t give us the middle finger and actually did something 2 months ago. Im confused by that last statement. They just about traded Meyer at the D-line

Brinson and De La Cruz
Pls don’t convert BA in the OF we will have another Brinson.

Is that Jazz after going 0-5?
-
8/7 at Rockies
I wish that was true, but you can bet your bottom dollar this FO will invest everything to justify it (trade). By that it could ultimately cost us down the road either by blocking our young pitching core or trading them by default. They are converting Alfaro at LF. We should be seeing some of our other prospects by now. Let’s get a fresh start going for next year.

Let’s trade with the A’s of all teams.

I was the only poster who defended Brinson on how they have handled him last year slowing down his process and not moving forward with or without him in a proper manner. Im not saying he’s a starter, but he shouldn’t of been sent down over Sierra.

Glad we went all in on a catcher at the deadline. At least we added more SP depth so we can nearly turn around and trade Max for a bag of peanuts.
