Damn Announcer puts down Marlins after ALCS!!
Did anyone catch the post game interview with the FOX announcer and Terry Francona? It sort of wen like this: Fox Announcer: Last year the Yankess after winning game seven had a letdown when facing the Marlins, How are you going to avoid that? Francona: That wont happen...we like to play baseball. I read that comment that the Yankees lost to the Marlins because they were still recovering from the Boston series. What a joke.

All this talk about Kendall
Why would we pay 10 million dollars a year for a catcher that is half the player of a catcher playing for the Marlins last year and was asking for 10 million dollars a year. HMMMMM.

Beckett and Willis should learn the knucleball
I remember when I was taught the knuckleball (only pitch I cna throw due to my right arm not being dominant enough over the left) and it is a pitch I could throw even with my blister problems. Josh should learn this pitch as a way to help him deal with the blisters and Willis should learn it as a pitch he can use to keep hitter off balance. 442792 That is a dumb post. Plain and simple. Almost comical.

My suggested Lineup
I really think we should try this JP Choi Cabby Lowell Treanor Harris Gonzo Luis Pitcher I think that Lenny should play more because he is a veteran and right now they need someone to step up. When he started during that nice stretch in Cincy, we played well. Plus, I like the idea someone had about putting Luis lower because maybe he can turn the lineup around. There will be no nunez or Conine in my lineup. I want Lawton, Livan, Wilkerson and BJ Ryan. 442210 Moving Chairs on the Titanic

the team cannot afford pudge? i hate that, everyone else in the baseball world says it was a mistake. but because a few marlins fans who are in denial, it makes it ok that we didn't resign the MVP of the playoffs last year. Pudge is the best player in baseball. He's the 2nd best catcher of all time right behind Bench. The end. 439770 well we couldnt afford him you want Pudge? say goodbye to Benitez and Lowell, or Castillo and Lowell, or Penny, Pavano and Castillo 439866 Not true....we should have kept Dlee with the 7 milion we offered Pudge. Ever think of that!!!!

No, they needs one more hitter in the lineup to drive in runs like pudge did last year.? :geek 439715 I would agree with that if only one or two of the guys were slumping but this is a collective slump...EVERYBODY is in a slump and they need a change! Not resigning Pudge was a terrible mistake. He was well worth the 3 year 30 million dollars although I know the Marlins couldn't afford it. 439724 Basically we all to realize that this team cannot afford to win another title. The minute you all deal with it the better off you will be.

Maybe if you and Scott decided to stop being stubborn and instead of making some random pessimistic thought actually looked things through, you would see the reality of the world and the falsehood of the little one you live in. And why don't you take a poll and see whose opinion matters more? 436421 If money wasnt an issue then this scenario would have worked for the Marlins: The Marlins would pay Pudge in a descending salary structure. It would look like this: 2004: 14 million 2005: 12 million 2006: 8 million 2007: 6 million That way the Marlins would not be paying a 36 year old catcher anymore then six million the last year of the contract. This would protect the Marlins from being starpped with a high paid over the hill catcher. Pudge gets his 40 million over 4 years. Why didnt this happen? Because the Marlins did not want to pay him 40 million nor did they think they could afford to. Dont kid yourself when you say that money was not the problem. Money was a big issue. 436427 And where does it say again that Pudge would agree to that, especially with already differed payments from his year here? 436431 Your responses are getting weaker and weaker. I am bored. Who is next?

This current Marlin team is simply not good enough
When the Marlins started the season they were winning on pure confidence from winning the World Series. As time wore on, the true team began to show its colors. A team that has been playing five hundred ball for three months. I believe the current players know that this team as it is built will not make a run for the title. The players are waiting for a trade instead of just playing. The reality of the situtation is grim. The Marlins are the type of team with there current payroll constraints that can only win a title after suffering 4 or 5 years of losing. Why you say? Well, the Marlins need to keep payroll around 50 million. To win a title at 50 million dollars, a team would require young (21-27) ballplayers playing for less then 2 to 3 million. Some would need to be paid under 1 million. Not only must the team consist of young ball players that are bargains, the player must greatly outplay there contracts in order to be thinking title. What then happens after the young team wins a title you say? Well, the players that were peaking at 26, 27, 28 now are no longer shackled by not having free agency rights and since they have outplayed there contracts to win said title, they will probably leave to a new destination in order to be paid. Then what happens? The team now has to either hire older veterans past there prime at a low salary, hire young players from the minor leagues, or trade for players that meet the 21-27 range that may outplay there contracts. The problem remains that it will usually take 5 years for a team to replenish its minor leagues and or delvelop players that the roster can consist of young players 21-27 of age that have the ability to outplay there contacts and contend for a title. The Marlins are heading toward purgatory where there pitching will be good enough to keep them close but there payroll is not good enough to pull them over the top. The team has started the new cycle and it may be awhile before this team can contend under current salary constraints. Lets face it, most teams dont give away Encarcion, DLEE, Redman, or lose quality players like PUDGE and Urbina after winning titles. Lets be realistic and be patient. Our time might come in a few years again. Until then, Pavano is outplaying his contract, so what do you think will happen to him with a team that can only have 50 million as a pay roll? We have to let him go. It is the Marlin reality.

Even players looking for an upgrade...
The Pirates will be here on Monday. Their GM (Littlefield) knows the Marlin system very well. I'm hoping we can swing a deal with Pittsburgh. I want Kendall. 436385 Kendall makes Pudge typw money. If we didnt pay Pudge, why would we pay a lesser talent in Kendall?

Baiting That is all this thread is 435144 God forbid we have a discussion on a message board about a former player Juanky. Get over yourself. Go to a real police acadamy if you want to play cop but quit doing it on a message board. 436240 Well, you don't see me starting a new damn thread everyday because I miss Chuck Carr now do you? Oh, how the Edgar Renteria trade was a joke, do I complain about that every other loss? No. Pudge is gone. He has no one to blame but Borass and himself. Funny you wanted him so bad, since I didn't see you in line to pony up money to pay for the 4 years he wanted. 436305 How does my opinion as a fan in wanting Pudge to return to the Marlins affected by my ability to pay his salary. That is asinine. Do you even know what you are saying sometimes.
