  1. how else were we going to pay for huge acquisitions like mark hendrickson?
  2. I know this guy who told my friend that... solid signature bobbob
  3. And yet MLB hasn't complained. congrats budley selig is on your side
  4. Again, I amazed at "Dump Gregg" movement here as I am the one for Uggla. It seems to me masochistic, and worse not well thought out. Trading Gregg now, before arbitration, which at worst will mean +/- $1,000,000 will make zero difference in his trade value. Why not wait until there's a real "our closer just blew out his arm" need (on one of the 29 other teams) and then make a move, if a move is warranted in the first place? I also would wait to hear from other teams regarding packages of players rather than piecemeal trades. But that's just my POV. I'll take it you haven't seen the contracts being dulled out for relievers this offseason, 03 Why would you say that? I'm not living in a vacuum, but it's my opinion the prices go UP UP UP from here and right through spring training. Rome wasn't built in a day and there's no rush to fix every problem we had before the trade or have now because of it. If it turns out Gregg is expendable for one reason or another as the off-season progresses and you want to fix 3rd base with a young player you're willing to take a chance on you could probably go back to the Dodgers who are starved for BP arms and have said so themselves and put something together just for Andy LaRoche because I'm guessing they bring in an experienced MLB third baseman before they hand the job over to him. And given the right circumstances it might not even take Gregg to pry LaRoche away. I still would trade one of our five top pitching prospects not named Miller for the guy. The you can still move Gregg for another piece if need be. There's always the alternative, Uggla to third, Andino to second base and I don't care what anyone says, I don't think Beinfest gives up two 30 home run guys in one off-season, I don't think Uggla is going anywhere. i hope you're right. it would be too much to lose uggla. he will be fine at the third base spot, though losing his power from the second base position hurts. as is, gregg should stay for now. what harm is it to let gregg play? his value could go up quite a bit if they really are bent on trading him. but for now he stays. i understand he's the highest paid player but somebody has to be! let's just hope the money doesn't go to his head.
  5. i want to believe in ownership, but as of right now our highest paid player makes $590,000. this is a professional sports franchise and we are wondering if any player on the team's opening day payroll will earn over a million dollars. unreal. good luck to the marketing campaign this year.
  6. I have a feeling something is brewing in the coffee pot here, I don't think we are done just yet... that's a pretty poopy coffee pot.
  7. seriously getting sick and tired of watching our team get shredded by 90 year old jamie moyer. you could throw out oil can boyd to pitch and florida would k 10 times.
  8. oh no they would have had to have paid bh kim 800 k for the rest of the year! thats so much money! especially considering its not even loria's its from revenue sharing. but keep your chin up, because loria will certainly put whatever money he saves back into the team. :| baseball is so depressing sometimes.
  9. The Julio for Kim trade looks better and better.
  10. get the bullpen on the bat phone kim's not going to last long today.
  11. that's pathetic to strike out twice against a junkballer with the bases loaded. luckily it isn't over, tampa bay has one of the worst bullpens.
  12. Jeff Clement in Seattle is stuck right now. He was supposed to be the Mariners' catcher of the future, but then they went out and signed Johjima. I have a feeling that he might be available, but it's probably not going to be cheap. He has consistently been rated in the top 5 catching prospects over the past 2-3 years. His prospect star has absolutely free fallen over the past year or so.... He has trouble with the breaking ball even still, he would cost a bundle i'm not so sure. bill bavasi is known as the dumbest gm in baseball, i think if we have a chance for a getting a good deal for a catcher it's with him.
  13. Really sad to see Randy Messenger and his Billy Koch patented flat fastball go. Just a deadly pitch.
  14. Willingham needs a set of hearing aids before the season starts.
  15. the only reason why dontrelle has been below average this year isbecuase he has a team who day in and day out doesnt know how to manufacture runs and always make errors behind him I doubt it....look at his hits per IP......he just had 1 freak year last year. 1-5 hitters are 0-15.....we should have gotten another hitter at the deadline....CF is a disaster...get a real starter already! We need to trade for a CF in the offseason or sign somebody. This is ridiculous how bad the situation is. Who are the decent free agents for CF next year? Anybody know?
