  1. When a player doesn’t reach his consensus projections based on talent and transitional growth there is a problem. Jazz is underachieving mightily based on those two factors. Now the overwhelming evidence for this is his refusal to do the little things. His walks and steals are much much lower than realized, his strikeout rate is identical from a season along with his OBP. Basically before being traded, Jazz had identical or worse batting stats this year than last year or years prior so progression overtime isn’t in Jazz’s favor which only strengthens the ideal that his stagnant statistics at the plate will likely be the same in the field.
  2. Granted it’s a new position but he’s always had trouble in the infield. The Marlins moved him at CF for a reason and it wasn’t because of a flood of talent pushing him out. Errors, injuries & inconsistencies stem from being lazy, I’m sure of it. The defensive spectrum has 3B as the 2nd easiest position to play in the infield so it’s not as impressive as you think even if you’re not counting errors.
  3. Last 5 games 4-19 1HR 6K 0BB 5E (8E total since trade)
  4. Yeah no cheating 😄 Sorry, longest HR in Pro Player Park. Need to edit some things.
  5. ALL MARLINS TRIVIA Rules: No cheating Correct answers will be revealed around a week What Marlin was nearly traded for Chipper Jones? How did Cliff Floyd break his arm? What Rockies player hit the longest HR in Pro Player Stadium? What Marlin player supposedly looked like Vanilla Ice? Who was the Marlins starting pitcher for the Marlins' first game in team history?
  6. K-Jazzzz is 2-11 0BB 3K in his triumphant return. The superstar has awakened.
  7. Do you like my new profile pic & name, Polly?
  8. Burger had to be in the Aaroun Judge percentile after the Jazz trade 3 weeks ago, it happens. Same with Jazz, hitting in Yankee stadium swinging for the fences while being Iin the zone doesn’t impress me. His fans already think he’s the next José Bautista.
  9. A quality start is when a pitcher goes 6 innings allowing 3 runs or less. That’s not easy these days. Does @Das Texan really believe it’s like the 1990s when Charlie Hough was pitching in his 30th season throwing 80 mph heaters with generous strike zones? Mr. Hough had a lifetime .375 ERA but in this era, forget bout it. Even Jazz a 2 WAR scrub would magically achieve Rickey Henderson status. I don’t see what the big deal is, 162 games + playoffs + commute and their worried about one extra inning? They know well enough that going 6 will increase scoring.
  10. The signs are encouraging. Generally, I think you must establish contact first, then the walks can come. The hard part is being able to draw those walks when it’s time like you said. Edwards thus far is handling that well. Obviously, players who don’t strike out often and can draw walks will be far more consistent (less slumps) and their hits & walks each year go up because you can’t pitch around or go through them. I don’t disagree that a better lineup doesn’t help, but Ichiro & Castillo players of that nature will always produce. Adrián González at petco park with no help had these numbers in a 5 yr stretch on average HR 34/ RBI 105/ BB 90. That’s crazy in to my point if a you can draw walks and hit for contact, most pitchers or lineups don’t really matter.
  11. I looked up a couple leadoff hitters with little power ( Ichiro Suzuki & Luis Castillo) wether their walks went up or down and noticed that both players increased their walk rate the more they played within their prime. I think as long as a contact hitter can steal bases (that is the key) the mentality of a pitcher is try to get a good pitch over with discretion. However, both Suzuki & Castillo at the down turn of their careers wasn’t able to draw walks because they weren’t a threat to steal bases so yeah, pitchers of course would be more aggressive. However, with the new rules, stealing a base is darn near automatic so in this case pitchers may factor that in unlike the days of Castillo. So maybe now, it just becomes a question of how good is that bat of his.
  12. The league average for a 3B full time is 2 WAR. he’s barley above average for a guy who has speed and power. He’s a duel threat yet he’s just above average. You must be focused primarily on the small sample size after he got traded? 3 weeks vs the 3 yrs?
  13. This is why I oppose the new rule changes, it unlocks stats for certain players who get the spotlight for growing the sport. If a player can get this much media exposure for achieving half less then its not out of the realm of suspicion for the league to pad their stats either. People can turn a blind eye, but they do this for teams as well. I have no hesitation knowing the Braves are one of those teams, Acuna jr being one of the names you mentioned. Anyway, I don’t hate Jazz he’s only do his job as a marketing vessel. Yeah I agree, if the Yanks win the WS Jazz will be a household name.
  14. I haven’t seen the ESPN top underrated players yet but Zack Wheeler should be on it. I was thinking Sandy before your post but this is current not 2 yrs ago. Jazz isn’t underrated because they overrated him. Is that what you’re saying?
  15. Jazz is injured yet he says he feels 100%. If Jazz wasn’t traded everyone should be or would be wishing he was traded based on that comment with his history
  16. I never liked a clown at party so yeah, you probably right.
  17. Sounds more like a guy trying to feed his ego even if it means making promises he can’t keep. That comment probably increased is followers by 15%.
  18. So we are getting an artificial product that can be controlled with discretion? The farm systems have now turned into an experiment for analytics. The fear in this is taking out the purity and spontaneous of the game and installing a nearly simulated script. Ok, I have no problem making the game more competitive but they aren’t doing that, they’re purposely putting rules in that create disadvantages for entertainment. I don’t want a product I want all things equal.
  19. I’m won’t beat the dead horse any longer but here’s an article on moving the mound back one foot and why they are doing it. “Through Tuesday, batters were striking out at a 24.7 percent rate this season, an increase of 10 percentage points since 1992. The average time between balls in play this season has risen to almost four minutes. Triples, doubles and stolen bases — action plays that fans say they want, according to the league — are down. That is no way for an industry to attract the younger generation, the paying customers of the future. More Strikeouts, Less Action. Major League Baseball’s strikeout rate has increased every year since 2005” https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/14/sports/baseball/pitchers-mound-atlantic-league.html#:~:text=The league's declaration on Wednesday,This is fundamental. The quote above wants balls in play not strikeouts. Strikeout time has risen almost 4 minutes rather than balls in play for slower pace and less action. Wow people these days can’t watch 4 more minutes of baseball, so mlb wants a change? I think their consumers are fantasy owners who don’t even watch the games anyway, they just check stats because that’s what MLB wants, more stats.
  20. If teams ran at will it would expose the league as stat padding and scores would look more like NFL scores. Certain players will get the green light for superstar treatment but the goal here is controlled success. To much salt can be unsavory.
  21. The league actually purposes compensated draft capital if teams sacrifice their starting pitcher for more innings just to produce more runs. “It’s also suggested in the ESPN piece that draft pick compensation could be offered to the team with the most innings pitched by its starting staff.” It’s basically saying they will reward teams who bite the bullet and cheat on their fans.
  22. “This is due to various factors, including the fact that pitchers are less effective a third time through the order. This year, for example, hitters are slashing .238/.311/.388 the first time they see a pitcher. That jumps to .250/.311/.416 the second time and .263/.327/.437 the third time through. Bringing in a high-octane reliever is simply just a better strategy than letting the starter stay out there” It’s saying that teams who bring relievers in sooner, it’s based on the strategy of hitters not seeing the SP before the 3 time in the order. This “strategy” is actually to keep runs down which the league says they don’t want based on that article.
  23. The article says that hits increase if batters see or recognize a pitcher with more innings pitched, which is true, thus causing a problem with early bullpen appearances (fresh arms) which the article says they don’t want because of entertainment (runs scored). They’re just using other theories to back up a motive that is clearly stated in the article. Just an opinion, but I pretty sure there is a command pushing for less velocity while throwing fastballs for more HRs.
