Ok, so someone help me out here. I'm really looking forward to this movie and really enjoyed Batman Begins, but how are they going to explain the huge gap from introducing The Joker in the original Batman and now in Dark Knight? Two different franchises. Like Ramp said, they have nothing to do with eachother. No offense, but you didn't catch how the series was starting over after watching Batman Begins? It's even in the title. Although that could still be vague to some.

If we get lucky, we'll probably see the first trailer this holiday season.

ABC News? D.C. bureau has evacuated its building in downtown Washington following discovery of a ?powdery white substance,? apparently in the mail room.Taking no chances in light of the anthrax scares that ensued after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, alphabet ordered employees out of the building as sirens raced to the scene. The one-block stretch of DeSales St., NW, where the bureau is located, has been cordoned off. In an email to all employees, ABC News chief David L. Westin wrote, ?Contractors doing some work in the basement of our Washington bureau came across some powder they found suspicious. The Army Times made a list of the top 10 war movies that should have made AFI's list. They are: 10. A Bridge Too Far (1977) 9. The Dirty Dozen (1967) 8. The Great Escape (1963) 7. Top Gun (1986) 6. Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) 5. The Caine Mutiny (1954) 4. Glory (1989) 3. Black Hawk Down (2003) 2. Patton (1970) 1. Full Metal Jacket (1987) I'd add All Quiet on the Western Front (1930). Although since it's the holy grail of anti-war movies, I can see why it was left off.

Interesting casting.The only one I am disappointed in as of right now based simply on photos and from Match Point is Mathew Goode. Ozymandias is such a key role, and to have somebody so young and...I don't know...wimpy looking? play Ozymandias just doesn't seem to fit. You know who would have been a good fit I think, believe it or not? Tom Cruise. He could have pulled off that role and I remember reading that he was interested in it. Oh well. We'll see... Love all the other choices though. Although Ian McShane would have been perfect as The Comic. I never thought of that before. McShane does have a slight resemblance though. Would have liked that casting. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is not old enough for the role of The Comedian, imo. Tom Cruise would have been a perfect Ozymandias. Haley is a nother great choice for Rorshach. I'm glad he got the part. Malin Akerman (rumored) and Patrick Wilson are too young to play Silk Spectre II and Nite Owl II. Other than that, I think Patrick Wilson is a good choice for the part. I've only seen Malin in a couple episodes of Entourage as Sloane's drunk whore friend. Not familiar with Cudrup.

Source: Variety Warner Bros. has landed its Watchmen: Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson and Matthew Goode have gotten their hooks into Zack Snyder's adaptation of the iconic "Watchmen" comicbook.Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jackie Earle Haley and Malin Akerman have also landed key roles in the ensemble project, Snyder's follow-up to "300." Helmer, who took on the project a year ago, will unveil the ensemble at Comic-Con, and rumors have been swirling about the casting for weeks. His presence is expected to set off a frenzy like that of last year, when he stoked enthusiasm for "300" at the confab. Not to be outdone, the studio's homevid division has planned a big party celebrating the DVD launch of "300" at Comic-Con. Legendary Pictures is co-financing the pic, being produced by Admin Gordon and Lloyd Levin with Deborah Snyder, and Snyder plans on using a similar greenscreen technique as he did with "300." "Watchmen" has taken decades to get off the ground. Based on Alan Moore's 1980s comicbook series, the adaptation will be set in an alternate 1985 with plenty of Cold War overtones. Crudup will play the fatalistic Dr. Manhattan, a role Keanu Reeves once eyed, while Wilson will portray Night Owl, a rich kid interested in birds. Goode nabbed the part of the glamorous Ozymandias, a role once tagged for Jude Law, and Morgan has been cast as the Comedian, a Vietnam vet who's a member of the Minutemen. The adaptation has bounced from studio to studio for years, with Fox, Warner, Universal, Revolution and Paramount trying to make a go of it before Warner took it on a second time. Crudup, who just won a Tony for "Coast to Utopia," is skedded to start production Aug. 1 on "Pretty Bird" with Paul Giamatti. Just watched it. Enthralling. 9/10 Don't buy the DVD, rent it. It has absolutely no special features. Wait for the Director's Cut in early '08.

Laszlo Kovacs, the Hungarian-born cinematographer who shot counterculture classics such as "Easy Rider" as well as more mainstream pics including "Ghostbusters" and "Miss Congeniality" died Saturday in his sleep in Beverly Hills. He was 74. James Chressanthis, who is working on the documentary "Laszlo & Vilmos" about Kovacs and his friend of five decades, fellow d.p. Vilmos Zsigmond, said that although Kovacs, a cancer survivor, had been feeling better lately, he was not able to make a Friday meeting with longtime associate Bob Rafelson. "Their lives intersected with so many great filmmakers," Chressanthis said of the two lensers. "He was my soulmate, like a brother," said Zsigmond. "We escaped together, we worked together, we helped each other. He was a great cinematographer." Kovacs was in his last year of school in his native Budapest when a revolt against the Communist regime started on the streets. With classmate Zsigmond, he borrowed a school camera and filmed the conflict. They smuggled the footage into Austria and entered the U.S. as political refugees in 1957. The historic footage was later featured in a CBS docu narrated by Walter Cronkite. "They risked their lives shooting the revolution," Chressanthis said. "They would have been executed if they had been caught." After working a series of menial jobs on his arrival in America, Kovacs began working in television, moving into features with "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies." "Suddenly all the young filmmakers were looking for younger guys with new ideas -- we came from Europe and they liked us. That was the American New Wave," said Zsigmond of the fertile filmmaking period of the late '60s and early 1970s. During the 1960s, he shot exploitation films ("The Notorious Daughter of Fanny Hill"), period curios ("Mondo Mod") and four Richard Rush low-budgeters--"A Man Called Dagger," "Hell's Angels On Wheels," "Psych-Out" (both with Jack Nicholson) and "The Savage Seven." Kovacs and Rush subsequently worked together on "Getting Straight" and "Freebie and the Bean." His dazzling location work and independent working methods led him to teamings with other quickly rising and influential young directors. He shot Peter Bogdanovich's first feature, "Targets," Robert Altman's "That Cold Day in the Park," Dennis Hopper's seminal "Easy Rider" and Bob Rafelson's breakthrough "Five Easy Pieces." When Kovacs shot "Easy Rider, "It was like a revolution in Hollywood. It didn't look like any of the other movies the studios made in those days." "Neither he or I believed in a specific style -- just very natural lighting, a kind of poetic realism," said Zsigmond. Through the 1970s, Kovacs continued these associations, for Bogdanovich lensing "Directed by John Ford," "What's Up, Doc?," "Paper Moon," "At Long Last Love," "Nickelodeon" and, later, "Mask." He worked again with Hopper on "The Last Movie" and with Rafelson on "The King of Marvin Gardens." During the decade he also collaborated with Paul Mazursky on "Alex in Wonderland," with Hal Ashby on "Shampoo," with Martin Scorsese on "New York, New York" and "The Last Waltz," and with Arthur Penn on "Inside Moves." He also contributed additional photography to "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," for which Zsigmond won an Oscar. Kovacs gradually moved into more mainstream fare on such pictures as "Pocket Money," "Slither," "Huckleberry Finn," "For Pete's Sake," "Harry and Walter Go to New York," "F.I.S.T.," "Paradise Alley," "Butch and Sundance: The Early Days," "The Legend of the Lone Ranger," "Frances," "Ghostbusters," "Legal Eagles," "Say Anything," "Shattered," "Radio Flyer," "Multiplicity," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "Little Nikita," "Jack Frost" and "Miss Congeniality." His last feature was "Two Weeks Notice" in 2002. He received the American Society of Cinematographers Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 and led the ASC's education committee. He is survived by his wife, Audrey, and two daughters.

I watched Aguirre: The Wrath of God (Werner Herzog, 1972) for the first time today. With Rescue Dawn coming out real soon, I figured I should I watch some of the director's past work since he's considered one of the greats. It was solid. 8/10

I like Boston Legal a lot and it deserves to be nominated. The Spader/Shatner duo is the best on television. Regarding Kiefer, Jack Bauer is the James Bond of television. I love the show but he's essentially an action star, a hero. How many times has an action star been nominated for an Oscar (in an action role)? Exactly. Pathos! Pathos! Pathos!

Josh Holloway got f***ed. Ray Stevenson got f***ed. Michael Chikilis got f***ed. Elizabeth Mitchell got f***ed. Michael Emerson and O'Quinn both got nominated. IMO, Elizabeth Mitchell should have been there. Full list is up (minus TV mini series, I'll get to that).
