  1. Fucking steal... big win for the Fish. Wallach will probably turn out to be good for Cinci, but Disco is whatever.
  2. While I agree with your other cross outs, Kole Calhoun is a criminally underrated player and is certainly a franchise guy. Umm... Kole Calhoun was a 27-year-old near-rookie that OPSed .776. I understand the WAR, but c'mon. If he's a franchise player then so is Ozuna. Stop it.
  3. Our rotation is absolutely disgusting. Just became Nationals-type best in the game good when Jose returns...
  4. Horrrryyyy sheeeeeetttttttt
  5. Atlanta Braves: Freeman, Wood, Kimbrel Cincinnati Reds: Votto, Bruce, Bailey Los Angeles Angels: Trout, Calhoun, Weaver St. Louis Cardinals: Wong(potentially), Carpenter, Wacha Washington Nationals: Harper, Zimmerman, Zimmermann And those were just the first 5 teams off the top of my head. This is a joke right?
  6. I agree. I also agree. Just wondering wtf we have left to trade...
  7. Really wondering what we would give up. Feel like Eovaldi would have to be involved. Reds probably looking for more cost controlled pitchers. Eovaldi in Great American Ballpark = LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
  8. All we need is big bat behind him. If we can come out of this with justin morneau, dee gordon, and mat latos this could be a fun year If they trade for Latos I'll be extremely surprised if they land Morneau. How much trade leverage could they possibly have left?
  9. Sometimes I don't understand the Marlins. These are lateral moves at best. We acquired Dee Gordon, who is good enough to marry your daughter, and then we're acquiring Mat Latos, who's married and a total asshole. Who cares if he's an asshole, he's OUR asshole (hopefully) <3
  10. I have never called him anything more than a utility player at the MLB level. I think you claimed that to be his floor, where I claimed that to be his ceiling.
  11. Stanton is probably doing back flips imagining Gordon and Yelich ahead of him.
  12. HOLY FUCK like 6 months ago you two were flipped on your opinions of Barnes! Wild Card loved him and Spike hated him. What's happened?!?! [Maybe exaggerating here but seriously] Wild Card doesn't like him anymore because he's not a marlin No, it was exactly as it is right now. I viewed Barnes as nothing more than a utility player at the ML level and Spike professed his undying love for him.
  13. Those three are players surrounded by a decade of incredibly poor drafting that continues to this day And yet those are still three franchise players. How many other teams have three homegrown bonifide franchise players right now?
  14. This is because you know absolutely nothing about baseball and prove that on a daily basis. Or you're upset because we gave up a fringe prospect in Barnes whom you were in love with. And drafting players like Stanton, Fernandez, and Yelich are not small things. Those are franchise players.
  15. Joe Frisaro ✔@JoeFrisaro can confirm #Marlins are closing in on acquiring Mat Latos #Reds @Ken_Rosenthal
  16. It really hasn't. Stanton/Fernandez in and of themselves does not equal draft success. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Stanton, Fernandez.... and Yelich? And Heaney?
  17. Please find where I claimed to be king of evaluating talent. Even a court jester like myself can see this trade wasn't a good one. We gave up a higher volume of players than what was likely necessary, yes. However we did not give up a high volume of talent and that's the problem Fish14 and I are having with all the hate. Heaney was the necessary piece, and the rest was whatever. Honestly, the only person that I would have loved to keep in that deal (besides Heaney, Obv) is Chris fucking Hatcher. They had so much time and energy invested in that guy, to see him go after his first successful MLB season kinda sucks.
  18. You're getting closer. They aren't expecting him to be a minor improvement because they suck balls at assessing talent. Look at our draft success for the past decade. Hint: it's awful. Look at the veteran contracts this team has given out recently. Gross. Remember when we acquired kevin gregg...again? This team reeks of shitty management. Our recent draft success has been extremely good, actually.
  19. If Marlins get Latos and Tigers get Cueto? Then I think Reds tear it down and use the money to resign other players or make a play for it next year. I think the Cub moves did them in. Tearing down a great rotation is a terrible way to try and "make a play for next year" IMO.
  20. For reference: Nathan Eovaldi: 2014 WAR: 3.0, 2015 Projected: 1.4 Mat Latos: 2014: 1.5, 2015 Projected: 1.2 You left out that Latos missed half the year and has a proven track record.
  21. Fuck ya it's Latos!!!! That would be a great move. Eovaldi and Desclafani/Conley and let it fly. Why the fuck would we give them all of that? Eovaldi alone should get Latos, and may be a huge overpay in itself.
  22. clarkspencer@clarkspencer Hearing that the #Marlins are working deal with #Reds for Mat Latos
  23. ITs already been reported the marlins accounted for that. Someone reported last night they agreed to something if Haren is to retire. The agreement is the Fish get the $10 Million regardless of whether he pitches or not. So if he retires, great, we get the money and grab a FA. If he doesn't retire, we got him in the rotation for free in 2015. So for someone to say that the trade was all about money is foolish until Haren makes up his mind, because if he decides to pitch, the money is rather irrelevant because we upgraded in two major areas.
  24. None of these comparisons you guys are making matter. This trade shouldn't have gone down, because we lost our top prospect and depth to make a minor improvement to the team and get 10 million dollars. That screams Loria to me. He did it all for the money. And what if we don't get the money and Haren is a Marlin? Then what? Then you are entirely incorrect.
  25. Jesus Frisaro is awful at his job. Don't report stuff unless you know something. Stop with the "hearing the marlins will do something today" and actually find out what that is before reporting it. It was probably an assumption, lol. I could have tweeted that and had a 50% chance of being right.
