Jacobs Traded to Royals
You guys are so spoiled with the home runs this team hits that you have no appreciation of RBI's or home runs RBI is not a good way to evaluate a player's worth. *cap'n dud* Funny I always thought you had to score runs to win a game, which I think mean rbi's are very important. You were just joking right?

Jacobs Traded to Royals
You guys on this board are the most ungreatful duds ever. I truley can't understand all the harsh words for Jake, He gave you 32 homers, 93 rbi's and you guys talk about him like he did nothing for this team. He was part of history, for your team. He caught more balls at his ankels than any other fielder I ever saw. Over his head, way way off line, in the dirt, personally I think Jacobs was fine in the field, range wise he could of done better. Cantu throwing the ball accross the diamond like he was skimming rocks across a lake. Cantu made 22 errors and you all think he's god. Its totally laughable. Cantu had 151 more at bats than Jacobs, and had 2 more rbi's than him. I will laugh my butt off next year when Cantu is at first base and can't streach to get the balls. He is a total hack in the filed. If you think Jacobs was bad in the field and all of you seem to have that opinion just wait till Cantu's yours 1b. Of course the saving grace that will or should help Cantu next season is thankfully he won't have to catch his own balls. You guys are so spoiled with the home runs this team hits that you have no appreciation of RBI's or home runs. 10 more hits and Jake has a 270 average 10 more hits and his obp is 320.

Does anyone know
I was wondering if there are any stats that can be looked up (where I could find them) as to when an error gets made by someone on the team if it led to scoring by the opposing team? It is something I would like to look into and I just don't know where to look it up or even if it exists. You guys are so knowlegable that I just thought I would ask you all. If any of you could advise me where to look for it, I would really appreciate it. I am curious as to our how our errors could have affected the win or loss in a game.

Don't blame C.B. Bucknor for tonight's loss.
HOLY F*** 21 ERRORS! ? Jorge Cantu has 21 errors. i though it was something like 14-15 lol he had 13 of those after the 1st month and a half of the season Oh I see, that makes it ok.

I would like to give you guys something else to think about. Why do you let Maybin hit against the best closer in the game when he wiffed three times tonight? Why not put a seasoned pro up there. As a matter of fact I thought he was crazy putting up Mc Pherson as well. These guys need alittle more plat appearences before you put them in a game of this importance facing the best closer in the National league. I think alittle of this loss falls on Fredi too but to be honest I blame Cantu for this more than anyone. The error (which he always gets a free pass on) and as far as I'm concerned a base running error as well. But I know he only has made 21 errors this year but no matter he's the man.

Anyone else not surprised Erick started this thread? He's always quick to defend people who deserve criticism. Of course Bucknor didn't single handedly change the outcome of the game...but he blew a call that was a major determinent of the outcome of the game. And Cantu, Uggla, Andino, Anibal Sanchez (throwing error) to be specific...also played a BIG part. That won't get as much criticism, however. UMPIRE SUCKS! :whistle I get what you say man, but those are two independent mistakes. The fact that we had already made mistakes does NOT take anything from the fact that the ump BLEW the call. One thing has nothing to do with the other. Of course it does, IF Cantu doesn't run (which he shouldn't have) then there is no call to blow. So yest one has something to do with the other. Should have been a non call because Cantu should have still been on third.

9/2 Post Game
Cantu hands down, left 7 men on base tonight, 0-5 Oh and Fredi is my second vote, for taking Jake out of the game in the sixth.

Dodgers leading Philly 4-0
Still early but Dogers beating the phillys, maybe we will get lucky tonight after all. At least if they win we don't lose any ground.

Bats in a funk.
we going have some game like this but what hurt it was mets we were playing Miamibaseball saves the thread You're entirely right, but the caveat to this is that it's pretty clear the offense is in a slump... and while EVERY win counts, regardless of where in the season it is, I'm feeling the offense breaking out just as the playoff race starts to reach it's hottest point, and if we remain as close as we have, then we'll have momentum going into the playoffs too, so, I don't mind this as long as the Phillies continue helping us out by making this a three horse race... Well said, the team isn't hitting right now, but tomorrow, a new day and I myself have the feeling there gona brake out the wood!!!! GO MARLINS!!!!!!

Our Team's averages Vs Lefties
It's pretty surprising we've struggled against left handed pitching. Hammer normally slaughters left handed pitchers and Uggla is right around those lines to. Hanley just needs to get adjusted to the outside pitch that left handers have been using quite often. Lets hope they all adjust today!!!!

Our Team's averages Vs Lefties
Lets bring Gaby Sanchez UP his hitting .373 against lefties Yeah maybe he can take ALL our guys at bats. :whistle

Our Team's averages Vs Lefties
I wanted to see what our guys look like with Lefties on the mound. Here are their stats: Ramirez=240 average 8 doubles, 2hrs, 4 rbi's Hermida=228 average 1 double 2 triples 5 hrs, 13 rbi's Uggla=191-7 doubles, 2 hrs, 10 rbi's Jake=241-3 doubles, 5 hrs, 17 rbi's Cantu=330-good number there 5 doubles 6hr's 13 rbi's Ross=265 second best 4 doubles 8hr's 21 rbi's-best on the team in rbi's vs lefties Gonzo=233- 1 double 1 homer, 7 rbi's Willingham=259-2 doubles, 3 hr's 9 rbi's Helms=238 5 doubles, 1 homer 10 rbi's Amezaga=231 2 doubles, 1 homer 5 rbi's Ross has the most amount of RBI'S and Jake believe it or not has the 2nd best rbi's vs lefties, Just thought this was interesting.

A few choice words
Mike has his average up to .286, is atop the NL in homeruns, is third in rbis and two behind Hanley in total bases. He also has a .302 on base percentage, and 1 walk. He's swinging a hot stick, which is great, but sooner or later he's gonna have to start being a little more patient. He went 3 for 5 last night and has had several mulit hit games of late. His last at bat last night the count was 0-2 before he hit the home run it was 3-2. He is improving. The last two years he seemed to be pressing due to the lost time. I think with him being healthy this year you will see a big difference in the on base percentage. As for the one walk, if he keeps hitting like this they are gona want to walk him. LOL :thumbup

Benitez = Julio
I have to say it again, as a PROFESSIONAL PITCHER (and VETERAN) you cannot lose your cool out there. To say that the error was the whole reason for that inning is not realistic. Armando has to collect himself in that situation and do his damn job. He failed!! He showed up Hanley in the worst way and then proceeded to make a fool of himself. Melt down just like I said. He is the one to control that situation and he just didn't do his job. Sorry guys but that is how I see it.
-
Benitez = Julio
Total Melt down, unprofessional, I would never allow that guy to pitch for me again. :thumbdown I understand Hanleys error BUT as a sesoned veteran with 2 outs you have to compose yourself and do your job. Never seen anything like it. MELT DOWN MELT DOWN MELT DOWN. I never usually post I am a lurker but I had to say my piece on this one. Horrible display of sportsmanship. and the manager should have been out on that mound the second Julio gave up that hit after Hanleys error. I have no words left.

Offensive struggles...
I like Jake batting 3rd and Cabrera 4th. Last year when Jake hit 3rd he crushed the ball. (155 22 51 16 0 10 23 10 0 25 0 0 .329 .365 .626 .991 ) Cabrera (149 26 53 11 0 5 24 26 2 22 2 3 .356 .455 .530 .985 ) last year hitting 4th. Cabrea last 3 years batting: 3rd (988 176 297 67 2 51 196 122 11 212 9 4 .301 .380 .527 .907 ) 4th (764 134 258 56 3 39 140 92 6 158 6 4 .338 .410 .572 .982 ) Great at each spot but better hitting 4th. Jake with protection was much more productive. I agree totally, they need to flip flop, Cabrea being the best hitter on this team should be batting clean up. Jake was very productive in the third spot.

Marlins leading league in hitting
If Jacobs progresses the way we believe he will, Uggla and Willingham maintain last season's numbers, Cabrera turns into Albert Pujols, Hermida puts up a decent season, and De Aza can simply be average, we will have a top 5 lineup in all of baseball. And the likelyhood of all that happening is certainly high. There's a whole bunch of people who don't see Mike Jacobs reaching that next tier of 1B. No one knows what Hermida's issues are these days. He is a headcase who cannot stay healthy. And as awesome as Cabs is, asking him to become Pujols is alot, even for him. There's also a whole lot of people who believe that De Aza comes crashing down to Earth. Obviously no one wants that, but before this spring training and first 10 games of the season, he never lit the world on fire in the minors. Cabs will be better than Pujols you can" book that". the guy can hit blindfolded. Doesn't matter what that whole bunch of people THINK Jake will do, it only matters what HE thinks he will do. As for Hermida don't know where you get that he is a headcase. Confidence is a powerful thing and right now De Aza has that, you will be surprised what he can do. I always like to read the factual stuff on this board not someone that thinks he has a crystel ball and can predict the future as to what a player will and won't do. But being that your post seems to imply you have the crystel ball, thought I would add what my crystel ball indicates.
