August 9, 200817 yr For most of the second half we have had solid pitching, but lately the bats just haven't done a lot... against anyone. Contrary to what some may feel is an excellent hitting team with an average starting 5, nothing has really been farther from the truth of late. The Marlins have gone 4 games without hitting a home run, we all have mixed views about how the home runs help or hurt our team but it's finally clear that the home run plays a big part in the Marlins success. If the Marlins continue to struggle with men LOB, RISP and just the failure to score runs, it could be nothing but golf in the fall for the Fish.
August 9, 200817 yr even on a day that perez was struggling to throw strikes we only get two hits, pathetic. i would think that when a pitcher struggles he would get punished
August 9, 200817 yr Starting to get worried about this team. To much swinging for the fences. We won't get farther without someone taking a few more pitches. Ugly, ugly, loss. Makes that Phillies series seem pointless. Just one game, but we are in a BIG FUNK!
August 9, 200817 yr For everyone who wanted us to be a small ball tema look what happens we suck. I say swing for the fences fromm now on. If we k screw it maybe th next guy goes deep. Just kidding i know were nto hitting at all. But im for the long ball its gonna come back eventually.
August 9, 200817 yr If the Marlins continue to struggle with men LOB, RISP and just the failure to score runs, it could be nothing but golf in the fall for the Fish. The problem is not LOB, RISP, etc. It's the fact the team doesn't get many situations, b/c they don't get on base enough. Every team leaves men on base. Our hitters just aren't patient, and when they decide to be patient...they stay looking at strike 3. They'll get out of it, soon. The hitters led the way in the 1st half. The pitching has been excellent in the 2nd half. Hopefully, both get together and combine with each other to get hot later on in the year. Not worried.
August 9, 200817 yr So is this the postgame thread? I only caught the last couple innings of the game, was Perez that good, were we that bad, or a little of both?
August 9, 200817 yr I'm looking squarely at #'s 6, 14, 12, and to some extent #2 who has continued to suck with RISP and isn't getting as many hits as he should. There's probably someone else who I forgot to mention but i'm too pissed off to think right now.
August 9, 200817 yr For everyone who wanted us to be a small ball tema look what happens we suck. I say swing for the fences fromm now on. If we k screw it maybe th next guy goes deep. do you think they have stopped trying to swing for the fences? it seems like they can not hit the hr right now and now the k's are becoming more alarming because we are not recieving the "fruits" from a high strikout team. they certainly have shown that they can not play small ball due to their average w/ risp
August 9, 200817 yr I agree, Hanley NEEDS to step up. Uggla, Hammer, and Hanley need to get there heads straight
August 9, 200817 yr I know everyones pissed about the loss but i really think we got the next 2. Stokes has alomst a 5 era ithink in triple a and hes a righty and pelfrey is a hard throwing righty which we can hit.

NL average is .259. Not much of a difference.
August 9, 200817 yr sucks that there all in a funk, but they'll snap out of it soon. BTW phillies pirates still tied in top of the ninth

Were just not a smal ball tema and i think over the break with all the guys off time maybe they thought about it to much or somethin and when your thinking about not striking out guess what u do.
August 9, 200817 yr how many HRs has nolasco giving up this year? i believe its 23. Thats his only problem so far and that was his only problem today. Him and scot olsen need to make some adjustments.
August 9, 200817 yr I blame management for not giving them steroids Dont worry they got lo duca for that.

August 9, 200817 yr wow, that makes me feel like sh*t, our offense has been in a funk since the Late July

At this point not even one of your blockbuster songs or overly optimistic rally posts could help this lineup. Hitting with RISP is a main problem.

Once is a honest mistake, twice isn't. team* I agree though, I just wanted to know for sure that we were clearly not a small ball team... its clear enough :| Hit some home runs Fish, what have we stopped taking our vitamins? Not panic time yet, lets take the next two from the Mets. Perez has owned us this year and he pitched great, again. btw, Uggla... W-T-F! :|
