For most of the second half we have had solid pitching, but lately the bats just haven't done a lot... against anyone.

 

Contrary to what some may feel is an excellent hitting team with an average starting 5, nothing has really been farther from the truth of late.

 

The Marlins have gone 4 games without hitting a home run, we all have mixed views about how the home runs help or hurt our team but it's finally clear that the home run plays a big part in the Marlins success.

 

If the Marlins continue to struggle with men LOB, RISP and just the failure to score runs, it could be nothing but golf in the fall for the Fish.

even on a day that perez was struggling to throw strikes we only get two hits, pathetic. i would think that when a pitcher struggles he would get punished

Starting to get worried about this team. To much swinging for the fences. We won't get farther without someone taking a few more pitches. Ugly, ugly, loss. Makes that Phillies series seem pointless. Just one game, but we are in a BIG FUNK!

The problem is not LOB, RISP, etc.

It's the fact the team doesn't get many situations, b/c they don't get on base enough.

 

Every team leaves men on base.

 

Our hitters just aren't patient, and when they decide to be patient...they stay looking at strike 3.

 

They'll get out of it, soon.

 

The hitters led the way in the 1st half.

The pitching has been excellent in the 2nd half.

 

Hopefully, both get together and combine with each other to get hot later on in the year.

I only caught the last couple innings of the game, was Perez that good, were we that bad, or a little of both?

I'm looking squarely at #'s 6, 14, 12, and to some extent #2 who has continued to suck with RISP and isn't getting as many hits as he should. There's probably someone else who I forgot to mention but i'm too pissed off to think right now.

I know everyones pissed about the loss but i really think we got the next 2. Stokes has alomst a 5 era ithink in triple a and hes a righty and pelfrey is a hard throwing righty which we can hit.

I think so. Were just not a smal ball tema and i think over the break with all the guys off time maybe they thought about it to much or somethin and when your thinking about not striking out guess what u do.
