  1. I just realized its the latinos versus "los gringos" lol
  2. 15 game winning streak upcoming! Oh that will make my panties moist. Just when I was actually believing you were legit..... Well I am legit and I apologize for that. It happens when you leave the page up on the computer and your 19 year old son sits down at the keyboard. ... yes, the first thing I think of when my mother leaves a webpage open is to talk about her baby parts. Gag. this is getting weird....
  3. Strasburg. Who? lol Jk i forgot about the guy who has the most SO to start off his career in MLB history
  4. Do you guys think Gaby Sanchez can beat out heyward for rookie of the year? Heyward at the moment has an OPS of 0.833 while gaby has a 0.852. Gaby also has an edge in doubles and BA. what do you guys think. (I am assuming they are in the lead right now for the award, I have no idea whether there are better rookies in the league right now)
  5. :lol I wasn't so rational a couple of hours ago. My blood was boiling! I don't know how many of you saw this happen live (I did!), but I think that makes it so much worse. Watching the replay doesn't do the moment justice. I flipped it on with one out. I was a little nervous because the ball was hit [somewhat] into no man's land. But yeah, watching live was a whole different ballgame. When Joyce's arms outstretched vertically, I was temporarily suspended; I had no idea what to think. It was a pretty stunning blow. Maybe this sounds melodramatic, but I think those who watched live may very well agree. I agree completely. I also had the displeasure of watching it live
  6. :lol Usually if the runner is safe on the 27th out, he's called out. He was CLEARLY safe. I've never seen anything like this in baseball. you mean clearly "out" right?
  7. Did it seem like Hudson hit Hanley on purpose? I missed that. well considering hudson usually has great control and there were 2 outs (hudson probably thought he could get away with hitting hanley), it may very well have been intentional. The ball hit hanely above his elbow
  8. Hanley seems to be alot more aggressive on the basses since the incident
  9. I love the emotion from Hanley right there. no doubt
  10. Hey guys, just a heads up. Even though your tv guide might say that the magic game is on FSN, the marlins game is actually being played. Well at least where i live.
  11. Why does Fredi hate winning? winning is overrated
  12. Has anyone ever attempted this contest? if so, how far have you gotten, i. e. how many consecutive games have you gotten a hit? 2 better than 1

  14. Helms is the "boss" of this team The enforcer. He appears to have the respect of young and old alike. The go to guy. As much as this is "Hanley's Team", the guy who makes it run is Helms. After Coghlan's recent object lesson there shouldn't be any question his importance to this team. That's why he's here. yeah and people on here say veteran presence and team chemistry are overrated Because it is. Specifically, the word chemistry. you see lou, its not only jim leyland that thinks so. I've had this discussion with you and PWG before and the only real "support" you guys have of veteran presence and chemistry not being important in a clubhouse is jim leyland's comments and the championship winning chicago cubs of the early 1900's, which i believe was an isolated case. I on the other hand base my opinion on the fact that many sport writers and players speak about the importance of veteran presence And the only real "support" you have is the same hearsay and conjecturing. Jim f***ing Leyland, in my opinion, is a much better source than sports writers, players, and a 16 year old playing for his high school team. Jim Leyland knows more about baseball than basically everyone. In Jim I trust. He has earned respect. The Marlins wouldn't cease to exist without Wes Helms. I'm glad the team respects or likes him, but he's not the key piece to this team. These guys are going to win and be successful with or without him. Wes Helms alone is not keeping this team together, which is basically the chemistry argument. I'm not saying fill a team with Elijiah Dukes, Milton Bradley, and Kris Bensen and not expect problems, but there is a superior factor to all of this that defeats any team and ladidah bullcrap. Winning. Winning = Chemistry In Jim I Trust Well i would have to argue that bobby cox, joe torre, and tony la russa know the same or more than jim leyland. But thats besides the point. I never said the sole reason the marlins are successful is because of team chemistry or veteran presence. But i do believe it is more important than what ppl on this board believe it to be. You can go ahead and believe in one person but I still believe that if the general concensus among sports writers and players is that veteran presence is important, then it most be important. Again i dont think a team can not not win without veteran presence or team chemistry but i still think it helps a team become successful.

After Coghlan's recent object lesson there shouldn't be any question his importance to this team. That's why he's here. yeah and people on here say veteran presence and team chemistry are overrated Right, I'm sure glad Hanley is taking advice from the almighty Wes Helms. I don't know what we would do without him. umm i never said any of the players benefited from veteran presence talent wise. As you probably already know, baseball is a mental game. you can completely screw yourself up mentally and end up struggling on the field for that reason. Veterans help players in the mental part of the game. For example, when a player is in a major slump and believes that there is no way to get out of it, a veteran can come in and give them some advice on the situation since they have been there before. Of course, not all players need their hand held but still it helps those who need it.

  18. I didn't wait on a line for any signitures. I got Hanley's down near the clubhouse, and got Coghlan's when he was doing the radio interview. Uggla was about to sign my ball but left. Meh Already got JJ's, Baker's, Cantu's, Nunez's, and a few other guys last year, so I targeted to get Coghlan and Hanley this year. I'm happy. I saw Bonifacio signing baseball's. I wondered why people would want that signiture, I would've probably waited on line simply for him to remove his signiture if it was on my baseball. lucky bastard. the only signatures i have ever gotten are those of toby borland and matt perisho lol I must confess though that i have not gone to any fan fest events tp try and get sigs
  19. no, i think rab mistunderstood Backin2008's post. Rab basically said that if Albert Pujols does not retire next year then Hanley Ramirez is not the best player at Short Stop, which is obviously not true since we all know pujols plays 1b. No he didn't misunderstand Nny was right because i know Rab isn't a moron. They were stating that along with Hanley being the unanimous best player at his position so is Albert Pujols at 1st base and Joe Mauer behind the plate. if he did misunderstand something, it doesnt mean he is a moron. Backin2008 said that hanley ramirez was the only one with an argument of being the best player at HIS position, i.e., shorstop. And Rab's response was "assuming Albert pujols retired this night." Regardless of whether pujols retired today, tomorrow, w/e, hanley is still the best at HIS position since pujols play a different position, 1b You're misunderstanding. Read his post and then read my post. Uggla is not the best 2B in baseball but he is certainly in the Top Ten. The only player who has an argument of being the best player in the majors at his position is Hanley Ramirez, period. He said that Hanley is the only player in the majors who is always considered the best player at his position. That's why it was posted in this context. I said "assuming Pujols retired last night" because the only way Pujols isn't also considered the best player at his position is if he's not playing anymore. right, but i am pretty sure he was referring to the fact that hanley was the only player on OUR team alone, not all major league teams, that can be considered the best at his position. Obviously there is a best player for each position
  20. ......Can we move on? ummmm....yes. i dont see why not
  21. Backin2008, they're talking about how Pujols is the best 1b and Mauer is the best C, no argument. You said the only position you could do that for is SS lol... no, i think rab mistunderstood Backin2008's post. Rab basically said that if Albert Pujols does not retire next year then Hanley Ramirez is not the best player at Short Stop, which is obviously not true since we all know pujols plays 1b. No no no, I didn't misunderstand anything. Backin2008 said Hanley was the only player in the league who is, no doubt, the best player at his position. Pujols is, no doubt, the best player at his position. Mauer is, no doubt, the best player at his position. Anyone who disagrees with any of those three has no idea what they are talking about. ok, maybe i misunderstood you . but your response really didnt lead me to believe you were stating this.

  24. Maybe I read this wrong but it seems that Paulino (who was roundedly unloved throughout baseball coming out of the 2008 season and couldn't stick with two other NL clubs) isn't being shopping rather (flatteringly) teams have called to express their interest in the guy. This time of the year everyone is interested in everyone, including speculation that the Red Sox may be back to poach Cody Ross for Manny Delcarmen. There's going to be a lot more speculation, gossip and hearsay before the trading season is over. As for Gload it's a matter of going with the guy you know and with a season of experience seeing what he brings to the team the move probably makes sense and isn't for big money. I wonder though when they say a "Helms-like deal" does that mean the dollars or the two year length of the contract offered. He also makes a pretty good counter-balance in his leadership techniques with Helms, who is an in-your-face and sometimes physical leader. Gload dosen't come across that way to me. I would think it is both $$ and length, $2 mil, 2 years type thing. It will be interesting to see what happens. Regardless of whether some liked the deal last year or not with Wes, he lived up to his contract in ways that the numbers will never show. And even the numbers weren't all that bad. yet some people on here still believe that veteran presence has no value
