So basically, as soon as Proctor replaces C. Martinez/whoever as the other right hander, Lindstrom comes back and helps deflect Calero who is surely over achieving, and we figure out our lefty situation, the bullpen should be looking pretty solid. I don't think it's going to be shocking if they have a high 3 ERA/mid 1.30 whip going forward. Which is more than adequate. And we kind of have another bullpen in waiting with Tucker, Ceda, Vanden Hurk, Leroux, Wood, West, and Thompson. This is gonna be fine. I'm a lot more worried about getting 30-32 starts out of our front 5. What "6th starter" is going to accumulate the extra 100-150 innings were probably going to need at some point. I do not trust Badenhop, Trahern, Vanden Hurk, etc to be able to pull that off this year. Praying Sean West is lights out for 3 months in Jax. wow thanks you really eased my mind

does anyone know the era of our bullpen this spring training so far (excluding those pitchers who are not expected to make the team). I just saw the boxscore for today's game and the bullpen totally sucked. I am getting more and more worried about our bullpen everyday. I know lindstrom and proctor haven't pitched much or at all in the spring but still.

That's b/c Beinfest didn't improve this team in the offseason, as much as some people like to believe. For some reason, Emilio Bonifacio has some excited for a new era of defense. Beinfest doesn't have much to work with. Besides, major league players are generally expected to at least play a competent defense. I think its all in their heads. They are thinking about this problem instead of just going out there and playing defense naturally. i agree

Just because they don't count doesnt make them any less than an error. You might argue that they are not trying because its spring training or that they are just rusty but i dont see other teams committing this amount of errors despite the fact that they have been away baseball just as much as the marlins. In addition, gaby sanchez, who is fighting for a position, has committed two errors in four games i believe, which, in my opinion, is worrisome. For the love of God, they're not even towards the middle of Spring Training. Just started. Wait and see if it continues till later in Spring Training at least. Also...some of you seem to think this is going to be a very good defensive team...it won't be. It improved, sure, but it's still average, at best. beginning of spring training or not 10 errors, i believe, in 4 games is ridiculous.

While Beinfest would like to give Hermida one more year to finally grow into the super star he was clearly destined to be, it may be time to part ways with the left-handed hitter. A minor-league stud, he has never lived up to the potential he showed in his first career at-bat that resulted in a pinch-hit grand slam in 2005. The only thing that may keep Hermida in right field heading into the 2009 season could be damage that will occur to the front offices ego for boasting him as the next J.D. Drew. It will hurt even more if that ends up happening in another city next year. Anyone want to guess what JD Drew hit at age 24? .242/.340/.424 Lets toss that kid. whats so great about jd drew. yeah he walks alot but thats about all hes done in his eleven year career. hes only had one 100 rbi season and one 93 rbi season. comparing hermida to drew does not give me much hope for hermida either

Hanley needs a shoulder transplant. Cant believ hes not playin. Fredi has to making him sit cause i know he would be playin if it was his choice. That's not true.
