  1. I'm really getting tired of us serving up vitories to other teams. The walks are stupid and aggrovating. Not looking at the third base coach has to stop. We are playing sloppy. and it needs to stop. I would kill to see a Jack McKeon ass chew out session right now. This team is nowhere near as sloppy as it was under McKeon and Gonzalez hasn't done anything even a tenth as hairbrained as Jack McKeon would do. Pitchers need to throw strikes, if they can't, demote them. Anyone know if Gregg has options? Cause I want Gardner back. At Least what Jack did worked. I'm with the other guy, when need a good McKeon rip, he'll straigten this club out. I say Beinfest should give him a call and bring him down to get this team back in line. So far, the team needs to focus. If they want to win championship they need to avoid these mistakes. The '04 and '05 Marlins under Jack made A LOT of dumb mistakes. Dumb baserunning and pitchers ignoring baserunners were the rule on those teams. Fredi is not going to rip and embarrass players in front of everyone ala Jack. I hope he addresses any problems in private.
  2. I think if Gregg had retired Ensberg then Fredi may have brought Tank in to face Scott. I would rather have Gregg face Ensberg than Tank face Ensberg. That's what I would have done.
  3. This year we have sergio mitre and Jorge Julio to blame for four of the teams six losses. I don't think Mitre is good but to hang two losses on him is ridiculous. we need fix this quick because we donot want to get in big hole we have only one good pitcher that is willis but he cannot pitch in all game some one else need show their can pitch too or we going have LONG SEASON Yes. DTrain has pitched well but overall the rotation isn't getting the job done.
  4. He should be benched immediately. Retarded play. :banghead I hope you are being sarcastic. I mean take him out of this game.
  5. He should be benched immediately. Retarded play. Olivo did the same exact thing. The ball was already in the center fielder's hand when he was coming home. Benching him would likely prevent another guy from pulling the same crap.
  6. He should be benched immediately. Retarded play.
  7. These are the tranlations of his quotes regarding the Yankees and Cardinals: Pujols is the best. He's my idol. If I get traded, I would like to play next to Pujols in St. Louis, although I would prefer if Pujols would come to the Marlins. I would like to play with him. I would not like to play for the Yankees. They have too many rules, that's what I think. That's not in my hands but I don't think it will happen.
  8. Once again....Olsen comes up small......he annoys me more then anyone with his cocky attitude....walking the pitcher was disasterous. and yet you probably liked one of AJ Burnett or Josh Beckett I loved AJ....still do....and he got so much sh*t for his antics....how do we pardon Olsen for the fight with Mess....the bravado that is not backed up with performance. So you don't like Scott Olsen, because people hated AJ Burnett. Gotcha. No I don't like Olsen because he doesn't back up his cockiness....I see him as another AJ that for some reason no one wants to say anything bad about. what are you joking? He has already matched aj burnett's highest win total in a season. And in case you forgot, he did it in his rookie year. Like FishFanInPA I don't particularly care for Olsen I don't think his stuff is nearly as good as many Marlins fan would have you believe. Reading this board one would think Olsen is a fireballer who blows hitters away and that's ridiculous. I have very little doubt once their careers are over AJ and Beckett will have a lot more innings than Olsen with a lower ERAs.
  9. Miguel is better or more important or whatever you want to call it than Hanley and I can't believe this is even up for debate. Every year Miguel improves and it looks like this year he'll put up MVP type numbers.
  10. I know tank rocks but he doesn't seem to be a guy that could close to me, I think we should just keep him as the lefty specialist and should switch up between Owens and Lindstrom. If Mess stays reliable, we could keep Lindstrom and Gregg as LR's Tank is much better than just a LOOGY Last year he wasn't tough vs righties.
  11. Beinfest is an above average GM who has consistently fielded a team that has been in contention. With the WC most teams are in contention well into September so that means very little. He's a good GM who is very much overrated by Marlins fans. He works under a low payroll but took over a team filled with young talented players. Just imagine where we would be had MLB baseball moved the Expos to Florida and the Marlins to Washington and when Loria took over Beinfest would have started off with the team and farm system he helped build (Expos) rather than the team and farm system Dombrowski built. It wouldn't be pretty. I don't belive there are any Dombrowski guys left on this team except for Cabrera, and possibly Willingham. Beinfest traded for Willis, Hanley, Anibal, Jacobs, Owens, Lindstrom, Gregg, and Nolasco. He also picked up Uggla and DeAza in rule 5 drafts, and drafted Olsen, J J, Tank, and a majority of the pitching depth we have in the minors. Also, the expos had a good minor league system when Beinfest left. Don't get me wrong. I think Dombrowski is an excellent GM, but to suggest Beinfest has had little to do with our success in not fair either. Cabrera, Willingham and Beckett were Dombrowski's guys. The Hanley trade looks like a great trade but Beckett was an extremely valuable trading chip and without Beckett there would be no Hanley. As I said before Beinfest is a good GM and as I said in another thread he did a great job in '02 and '03 filling the gaps that led to the WS but after '03 he's had a hit and miss record. Who were the young talented players Beinfest left in Montreal and how do they compare to the ones he found when he came over here?

  13. I'm still not sure Julio is out as the closer. The Sun-Sentinel and the PBP said Julio said he was no longer the closer but there was no confirmation from Fredi. The Herald and the website haven't said anything about Julio not being the closer.
  14. This is the video of UM -vs- Wichita State decoy play from the '82 CWS: http://www.miamiherald.com/588/story/72230-a72180-t32.html I'm guessing most of you weren't around when it hapenned. That was a great play.. fun to watch.
  15. Twins had the first pick and everyone wanted Camp so much that they chose him to leverage a trade. The Twins had the top pick and they wanted Santana, not Camp. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/major...res/262670.html The Rule 5 Draft's Biggest Gem The Twins are getting plenty of acclaim lately for stealing pitchers Francisco Liriano, Joe Nathan and Boof Bonser from the Giants in exchange for A.J. Pierzynski before the 2004 season. But the Santana acquisition should not be forgotten. He was originally signed by Houston in 1996. By 1999, he was the No. 2 starter at low Class A Michigan, behind Roy Oswalt and ahead of his roommate Tim Redding. Santana was 8-8, 4.66 in 1999 and was left off the Astros' 40-man roster, making him eligible for the Rule 5 draft. The Twins' Midwest League manager at the time, Jose Marzan, recommended that the Twins consider Santana after watching him pitch a couple of times. Marzan, now the Twins' Latin American coordinator, liked Santana's arm strength and his athleticism, though he had little other than a fastball. The Twins were going to select Santana with the first pick in the 2000 Rule 5 draft, but the Marlins were worried the Twins were after their man, Jared Camp. So Florida agreed to select Santana with the second pick and trade him to the Twins--plus cash--if the Twins took Camp. Sure, the Twins said.
  16. It's not a knee-jerk reaction from the advertisers. Would you spend your advertising dollars on Imus and piss-off a big chunk of your customers base? I wouldn't. With advertisers pulling out MSNBC and CBS had no choice.
  17. I didn't see either game last night unfortunately I didn't see Mitre's performance last night but ten hits and four runs in six innings suggests he didn't have his very best stuff and I know he gave up a two-run homer. One thing I did notice was out of eighteen outs in six innings along with two strikeouts he had fifteen groundouts and only one flyball out which is usually a good sign. Mitre pitched better than what his stat line indicates. In the first Hammer misplayed a ball that ended up as a hit and a run. In another inning Cody misplayed a single into a triple and the next hitter hit what would ahbe been a DP ball but the IF was in and it turned into an RBI single.
  18. not to bring in politics unnecessarily, but anyone notice how jorge julio is really a proxy for the bush administration. you've got two hardcore republicans, wmm and weiner, pleading with the rest of us to stay the course on Julio. the situation is improving, we need to give the surge a chance to work. everyone else sees julio for what he is -- an expensive disaster that will haunt us for generations to come. hmmmm What a POS of a post. Isn't there a political board where you can post this BS?
  19. I usually cringe when I see a rain delay or the game is going to extras. . . I think we usually don't fare well on those situations Is there a way to see the historical records for both extra inning games and rain delayed games? We've been pretty bad in extra inning games: 2006: 5-7 2005: 5-9 2004: 5-10 2003: 6-4 2002: 5-12
  20. December 13, 1999: Drafted by the Florida Marlins from the Houston Astros in the 1999 rule V draft. December 13, 1999: Traded by the Florida Marlins with cash to the Minnesota Twins for Jared Camp (minors). That's not the complete story and I'm too lazy to explain it. Google marlins johan santana trade twins rule 5 draft and you should get what really happened.
  21. If your dad buys the 10-game thing then you don't have to convince him to buy tickets because you'll already have them.
  22. He didn't exactly lose the game Sunday either, nor was he credited (or debited) with a blown save on Sunday, but leaving with the bases loaded and one out and relying on someone else to clean up his crap constitutes a losing effort and a blown save, at least where logic and common sense come in. Believe it or not on Sunday Julio was credited with a Hold.
  23. Yea, absolutely nothing wrong with what Fredi said about Julio. Can't throw the guy under the bus as badly as you want to. Exactly. Throw him in the setup role and let him work. As long as he's not closing. Hopefully by the second half Beinfest will swallow his pride. The setup role is the most important bullpen role after closer so why would you put a struggling guy in the setup role when you have several other pitchers pitching well? Makes no sense at all. If he's demoted, which he should be, he should be pitching in games that are out of hand.
  24. I don't know if you are going to see this in the papers tomorrow or not, but things got heated inside the clubhouse between Julio and "a member of the starting rotation" good times this was probably olsen. if i were olsen i'd shut the hell up. julio would break him in two if they got into it. plus, this is no way to help out a teammate. regardless of how funny you think this is or how little you respect julio as a baseball player, it is not professional to act this way. olsen will have a period in his career where he'll get smoked by hitters. in fact, if i recall correctly, he got smoked a lot early last season. olsen should shut his arrogant ass up. be supportive of your teammate. and this goes to all of you that are being completely ridiculous and offensive to your fellow marlins fans and the front office. you need to take a chill pill. I almost never agree with you but I do in this case. What he did or did not do? What does that mean? He didn't slam his glove hard enough or didn't take a bat to the water cooler? I wish I knew waht you (Ramp) are talking about.
  25. I don't know if you are going to see this in the papers tomorrow or not, but things got heated inside the clubhouse between Julio and "a member of the starting rotation" good times So is this confirmed? Not to doubt you, but where did you hear this? If the member of the rotation gave Julio crap for pitching poorly then the member of the rotation is an a**hole. I don't think Julio is screwing up on purpose. I'll bet it was Olsen and if it is was Olsen this is just another reason to not like this overrated punk.
