  1. Since this has turned into a uniform discussion thread, I hate teal as a dominant color. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Those all teal hats were terrible, even if they are classic, and the teal uniforms just don't look as good as the new ones with teal outlining. However, that doesn't mean I think our uniforms are perfect. If I were given a chance to redo the uni's, I'd ditch the pinstriping and go to a solid color scheme with teal piping on the jerseys (to see what I'm talking about, look at the Mets solid home whites). That way, I think there's enough teal to set us apart, but not enough to just overpower and ruin the jersey. I'd keep the road greys and black jerseys the way they are, and I'd reintroduce the alternate sunday jersey as a vest with black underneath. I agree 100% on the teal...it is/was dreadful. :thumbdown

I wish I would have been able to see it, MLB extra innnings did not have it. Must have been on free tv in the D. Glad to see Leyland using Thames! Go Tigers!!!
  3. How about Ty Cobb, I think he intimidated other teams rather well with his spikes.
  4. Why get season tickets or a 10 game plan...so you can sweat 10lbs of water weight off and get the pleasure of smelling the person doing the same a couple of rows over. :thumbup
  5. I heard they are giving him plaque. Counsell seems like a good guy. Congrats to Craig!
  6. Watch Vandenhurk pitch our first complete game shutout of the season. atta boy, thats the spirit :thumbup That would be awesome!!!!!
  7. Hart: Roberto Luongo Vezina: Roberto Luongo Calder: Evgeni Malkin Norris: Brett Lebda...just kidding Nick Lidstrom. By the way, Wings over the Thrashers for the cup.
  8. As a die hard Detroit Lion fan who cringed everytime Harrington went back to pass (many times resulting in an INT) I truly wish Joey all the best of success. He was a class act during his tenure in the D.
  9. That reminds me to add something to my list of things I have never accomplished: 1. Win the Lotto 2. Run a 4.2 40yd. dash 3. Try out for a SP slot with the Nats 4. Get hammered in the early hours of Monday morning and while gettng arrested make an a** out of myself. Thanks Eddie for the great idea
  10. I hope he is a better Mayor then Pitcher!

What an awesome two years! I don't blame the Juniors for leaving school even Green. If he was to stay, the novice play of the others might drop his stock. Can we get Joakim Noah on Dancing with the Stars?
  12. You never know but my guess is that they will rotate the teams. I'm assuming they can only broadcast games that are already available on HD from the regional stations. I think you are probably right.
  13. I have subscribed to the Extra Innings package and think it is well worth the $159. Has anyone ordered the extra SuperFan package they are offerring this year? The screen where they show all the games being played live is pretty cool, but I just don't feel that that along with 2 extra high def games are worth it? Anyone else have an opinion on the extra SuperFan package? :mischief2 I have both EI and SuperFan. I really have no opinion on it yet. I just got it because of the daily HD telecasts so I guess it's serving its purpose. :thumbup I was thinking about getting it for the HD, but do you know if they are going to rotate the teams they show or is it going to be the Redsox/Yankee show?

    YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!! :notworthy
  16. I thought this thread was going to be about the 18 runs we scored in the first two games... Relax guys, it's a cool puff piece. Smile and move on. I'd be right next to you if the Marlins were truly getting slighted, but that is just not the case in this instance. This is the most sensible response I've read in the whole thread. Just a cool and harmless little article for those who like that kinda stuff. And, about D-Train being married... you'd have to understand what type of relationship he has with his wife (which we don't). For instance, my girlfriend knows that I sometimes have to take foreign businessmen to "Gentlemen's Clubs." That doesn't mean I do anything unfaithful in there (I don't get any lap dances, or go to the champaign room) and she knows that. In Dontrelle's case, he was helping his teammates bond, and it doesn't mean at all that he was doing anything bad, and it also doesn't mean in the slightest bit that he was doing it behind his wife's back. Nobody here is mistaking a gentlemans club for a brothel. There is nothing wrong with going to a strip club, we're just laughing at the people who work there (atleast I am). 100% right. -Sunshine
  17. You really want a laugh? Go to the article's Palm Beach Post link and click on "click 2 listen". Nothing better than a robotic voice talking about the Marlins making it rain. Awesome! :lol
  18. Lets take guesses at Nicole Spelling's stage name? I say Candy or Storm. And of course its her first week on the job... :notworthy That is great!
  19. that article doesn't even sound real Here is the link: http://www.palmbeachpost.com/hp/content/lo...mbiet_0404.html I know you cannot believe everything you read, but I would not be surprised if it is 100% true. Mickey Mantle would be proud.
  20. The buzz at the brand-spanking new Solid Gold Palm Beach is that the ladies there are going to miss their Florida Marlins, now that spring training in Jupiter is over and the regular season started Monday. And not just because they behaved like true gentlemen. For at least two nights a week in March, bar staff tells Page Two, star pitcher Dontrelle Willis, described as the ringleader, second baseman Dan Uggla and others were known to swing by the Riviera Beach joint and shower the gals with dollar bills until 3 a.m. "There'd be, like, $3,000 in singles on the table," said waitress Nicole Spelling. "When they liked someone, a bunch of them would just go up and throw dollar bills in the air by the handful. There'd be so much money on the stage that the girls had to get champagne buckets to pick it up. And (pitcher) Randy Messenger is, like, so hot." Spelling, 24, of WPB, was on the receiving end of the boys-of-summer's generosity at the new temple of tease, opened recently by former Miami Dolphins first-round draft choice John Bosa. One night last week, the single mom kept hearing from her 2-year-old son's baby sitter that the little tyke was running a 102-degree fever and vomiting. "I was going crazy because I couldn't leave. There weren't enough waitresses and, frankly, I needed the money just to pay my bills," she said. "Next thing I know, Dontrelle hands me $1,000 from them all and tells me to go home to my kid. They got permission from management for me. "I started bawling like a baby." Now enjoying his wild nights with a bottle of Perrier after a December DUI arrest in Miami Beach, Willis didn't pick up the phone in his hotel room Tuesday in D.C., where the Marlins were playing the Washington Nationals. Said Willis' agent, Matt Sosnick: "It's not newsworthy that baseball players are going to a strip bar during spring training."
  21. I parlayed the Tigers over the Blue Jays and the Marlins over the Nats which is paying +255.
  22. Congratulations, that is awesome!
  23. I am totally sympathetic to what Kenny and his family have had to go through, don't get me wrong. Kenny is lucky he is a professional baseball player who is able to receive such great medical attention. The great irony in all of this is that it was anyone else who knows how long it would take for him/her to receive proper medical care. Maybe the story would not have quite the same happy ending. you think only athletes get the top of the line medical care? No, but it sure does not hurt. jealous? Me personally, no not really. I have adequate health care coverage via a PPO provider. While you were crying for good ol' Kenny Rogers I was thinking of those who are not as fortunate. Say the 45 million plus Americans who do not have any form of health insurance whatsoever. Let's say the same situation developed for one of them...I guarantee they are not seen or operated on nearly as fast as next years guest speaker at the "National Sports Cameraman of the Year Awards."
  24. Dombrowski has to be the best GM in MLB, but Beinfest is a close second.
