  1. If we can beat BYU next week... think UCF will be back in the mix? Or do they really have to earn it again with a loss to FIU? I don't know, BYU looked like sh*t last week against Utah. If UCF beats them it might just get cast aside as them beating a bad BYU.
  2. Maybe Juan Carlos throws strikes. Maybe Juan Carlos built the roller coaster. AWWWWWWW! We can't say Leocoaster anymore. JuanCarloscaoster? Damn.
  3. Worse, he hit .213 with a .693 OPS from June 1st to his demotion on August 13th. Keep in mind that it was late June when Jack said he needed to start "focusing on baseball".
  4. Maybe Juan Carlos throws strikes.
  5. I've seen some funny comparisons but I just don't see that one? It's funny because I've seen some funny comparison and that's the FIRST one I see.
  6. http://hosted.ap.org...N_MARLINS_NUNEZ Here's the AP source: AP Sources: Marlins' Nunez faces ID issue By STEVEN WINE AP Sports Writer MIAMI (AP) -- Two people familiar with the immigration status of Florida Marlins closer Leo Nunez say the pitcher has been playing under an assumed name, and the issue has prompted him to return to his native Dominican Republic. The people, who said the Marlins have been aware of the issue for several months, spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Thursday because Dominican and team officials haven't made any public comment on the case. One of the people said Nunez's real name is Juan Carlos Oviedo and he's 29, a year older than listed in the Marlins' media guide. The Marlins placed Nunez on Major League Baseball's restricted list, and he isn't expected to pitch in the final week of the season.
  7. Umm, is that serious? Leo's not the only Dominican-born player in the big leagues who does that. It's one thing to change your age. It's another to change your identity. He has to be facing serious visa issues.
  8. OH GOD. Does this happen to anyone else?
  9. I can't remember, but is there a Rooney rule in baseball? Yeah, they had it in MLB before the Rooney rule came around.
  10. This will be Bo's... 4th interview for this job? I don't know why he puts up with it.
  11. so... all of my friends who i show this logo all laugh and think its awful. Unless they are from Miami, their opinions don't count. I want to shake you. Also, that's true.
  12. I am happy it will be a US make all over the place in there. I hate how the old stadium was neck-deep in Toyota Well, the Teal Monster currently has that annoying Ford Fiesta ad.
  13. @JCRMarlinsbeat #Marlins closer Leo Nunez placed on restricted list. NOT a discipline issue. I wonder what it could be.
  14. Maybe the Marlins will play in polo shirts, because that's where the logo belongs. Memo to self, get a Miami Marlins polo shirt.
  15. I do agree that it reminds me of the world's hippest subway logo.
  16. Also, do you think that John Buck is qualified to say that the logo is "very Miami" even though he's been with the club for less than a year (much of that time on the road)? More qualified than someone who has lived in Broward for many years? It just seems like geographic elitism to me. It seems like just something I've noticed to me. Don't build up this elite strawman. Though I am rather awesome.
  17. You'd... you'd really be surprised.
  18. I feel like, in this forum, the percentage of those who don't like and those who do are similar to those who are from Miami and those who aren't. Also, I haven't really seen that many people who say they are fine with it because it's Miami but think it is seriously flawed. Unless I'm missing some people, Iowa and myself seem to be the only out of state people not liking it (and he's much less vocal in his displeasure than I am). Most of the criticism in this thread at least is coming from people who live in South Florida. I don't think it's an issue of people "not getting" Miami; I think it's simply where personal tastes land. Not out of state but out of Miami. Most of the criticism seems to be coming from Broward and PBP people. I'm not saying they are right or wrong, I'm not saying everyone here from Miami loves it, I'm just saying I've noticed a trend. That sounds like splitting hairs to me. So somebody who lives in Broward doesn't "get" Miami? I don't think I buy that. Obviously none of this is scientific, but I don't think that geographic location factors much into the equation. You don't have to buy it but it's pretty true. Aesthetically, Broward and Miami are really different. And I do think geographic location factors into it.
  19. I haven't seen any positive reviews of the logo away from this site. However, I don't know if it has came up on any radio shows yet (probably has, though). Me either, but a large part of me feels like a lot of that is new-hate. I feel like some people (not Pengiuno) seem to not like it because it's new. That and the internet was built for bitching.

  22. But wait... how does this change Billy? What does this mean for Billy? I'm surprised this hasn't brought up yet, does Billy change colors to this crap? I'm just guessing obviously but I figure he'll be the same body but just have the new jersey and the new cap on. Or worse, Billy is going away for good. You know this is Loria we are dealing with, and he has no respect for the Marlins history. Dude, Loria IS Marlins history. 2003 World Championship and the new stadium. That's at least 2/3 of the most important things since the inception of the franchise. This is silly. Half. '93-'93, '97, '03, and '12. That said, Loria is the longest tenured owner of the Marlins and the other two kinda f***ed us.
  23. I am a fan of Javier Vazquez. He Javy very good second half!
  24. Damn you bobbob... you beat me to it.
