Team Colors and New Logo
You'll never ever buy new merch? You'll be watching the team in 2035 and only ever wear 30-year-old jerseys? Actually, in about a month when I can buy 15 Marlins Jerseys for $100, I can rotate them for decades - throw in 3-4 custom ones with my name on them that I already own and I think I should do just fine I have to say, I am looking forwards to 11.12.11.

Steve Jobs has died
Wow, RIP. Was definitely not expecting that. Steve Jobs, you changed the world forever. He had pancreatic cancer (the worst kind to have) for years. Do you really have to come in with a smart ass comment like that? Yeah, of course, the guy had pancreatic cancer. But it's not like you woke up today and said 'I think Steve Jobs is going to die today' now is it? I don't wake up thinking anyone is going to die but I'm not going to be surprised of someone with a deathly illness dies.

New Manager, new coaches?
CC wasn't good at all, regardless of which defensive metric you're using. If by "surprise," you mean: "he wasn't Mike Jacobs in CF," then yes; he wasn't the absolute worst, I guess. Like I said, the good defensive players played good defense; the bad defensive players played bad defense. To be honest, I was taking from memory. I had forgotten that he had a really bad month defensively after having a good month. I was remembering posts like this: I'm not worried about Coghlan's arm. Unless the nagging shoulder injury he had in Spring Training is really bad, his arm really isn't terrible. Quite honestly, I'm really impressed with his defense so far. Imagine if he had a full month worth of Spring Training games; he's doing this, having played like a handful of games at the position, before the season started. At this point, I expect him to get somewhat better the more he plays it. Definitely doesn't look lost out there. Coghlan (+2.4 UZR) has also been a pleasant surprise, although that's not too surprising, based on early observations.

New Manager, new coaches?
Can I be the guy who points out that we didn't have some terrible defensive outfield this year besides Logan Morrison? Before he went down just about everyone was talking about CC's surprising defense in CF, Mike Stanton was statistically between okay and very good, Boni, Cousins and Petersen were okay, and then we've got guys like Mike Cameron and Wise.

Kinda surprised to see Brian Sanches there.

2012 Payroll could approach $100 million
Buck batting 6th should be banned in 50 states They kept Infante, everyone better than Buck is ahead of him. Everyone with no power is behind him. But someone with no power (Bonifacio) is also someone who is better than him. I think you just created a rip in the time space continuum. Granted, though I don't think Buck, Infante or Bonifacio are people we want in the 6 hole and Buck at least might crush something or hit a sac fly, Which is why you just push everyone back a spot and put Bonifacio 1 or 2.

Pudge over CJ on All Time Team
Fielder vs cabrera in hot dog eating contest? I pick cabrera Well, Fielder's a vegetarian.

Pudge over CJ on All Time Team
Any way to isolate Cabrera's RISP stats while in FL? He had a .710 OPS w/RISP in 2004, but better other years, and I'm curious what it evens out to but I don't want to do it the long way... .328/.415/.532 The man was a monster.

Stadium Name To Be Revealed Whenever They Feel Like It
Mercedes-Benz or Daimler-Benz AG? I can't imagine an upper class company like Mercedes-Benz marketing to the middle class, or it being very effective at least. It's going to be the Mercedes-Benz Superdome starting on the 23rd.

Pudge over CJ on All Time Team
Unlike Hanley, who hits .297/.390/.474 with RISP. Which is nothing compared to Cabrera's .326/.423/.541 line. The 1B's numbers are definitely better but a .864 OPS isn't "nothing" and it definitely qualifies as "actually" getting big hits when it matters. It's boring seeing people pretend Hanley is bad with RISP. It's lazy.

Official 2011 Playoffs thread
The strikezone was the same for both teams if not a little in the Cards favor. TLR needs to STFU. That said, fining him is silly.

Team Colors and New Logo
Apparently silver's part of the scheme now? http://i16.photobuck...ayz/Marlins.jpg I can't post it as an image here because it's too big and it'll annoy the hell out of people - but that's it up there. I don't think it's real, but it presents the logo with a new perspective. It makes it look even nicer, and I don't doubt it'll look something like this when it's released. The silver was already there. What's new is the white outline.

Marlins/ Guillen interested in Big Z
Hell, they already had this exchange. @OzzieGuillen: LoMo, let's go ahead & hit and run here... @LomoMarlins: You got it Boss! Actually I think LoMo faked that. I looked through Guillen's tweets when LoMo did that and I didn't see anything from him Weird. I saw it on Ozzie's page when it first happened. Maybe he deleted it because it was a day or two before the announcement?

Cola Wars: Coca Cola v. Pepsi
Coke is better. Sprite is better. Barqs is better. Dasani is better. Pepsi still wins overall just because of Mountain Dew Dasani might be the worst tasting liquid on the planet. My take. Pepsi > Coke. Sprite > Sierra Mist. Barq's = Mug. Tie, as they are both easily inferior to A&W. Aquafina > Dasani. As is the water out of the hose in the backyard. Mountain Dew > Mello Yello/Surge Gatorade > Poweraid. Tropicana > Minute Maid. Lipton Brisk> Nestea Ice Tea. Frito-Lay > Uncontested. Quaker Oats > Uncontested. Looks like I'm on the Pepsi side though I rarely drink Pepsi these days. Pepsi Throwback is the sh*t though. Aquafina tastes like the bottle. THIS. I bought a bottle today and couldn't finish it, and I was at the gym for over an hour. You do have a bit of a point there and I've come to realize it's the bottle. Actually, today, I refilled one of my fiancee's bottles and realized it tasted the same. I generally use my own bottle and don't buy bottled water often so it's not a huge issue for me. Pepsi has always had an issue with plastic bottles changing the taste of their liquids (though this happens with just about everything bottled to an extent, which is why everything tastes best out of glass). But on the other hand, Dasani tastes like the worst thing on the planet. I'd rather eat the bottle.

Miggy's "intentional" hit against baltimore will always be one of my favorite baseball memories. That was one of the most amazing things ever.

Stadium Name To Be Revealed Whenever They Feel Like It
Mercedes-Benz bought the rights to the Super Dome. that's so f***ing cool. wish the Fish coulda got that. They probably didn't pay a ton for that deal. It's almost more like Mercedes-Benz is sponsoring the Superdome since Superdome is going to stay in the name and that will be what everyone calls it.
