  1. They were taped.
  2. I guess it shows how rarely I go to sporting events. Spoken like a true Rays fan. (Sorry, that was too easy.)
  3. That's cool every time you bring it up.
  4. Their attendance is generally in the bottom 3rd of the league, around 15K a game, but not in the cellar. Just an observation from my attendance of many Panthers games: they pull a ton of white people. The cultural and racial differences between the "whiteness" of their crowds vs Marlins, Dolphins, and Heat is clearly present. I don't know if this is comes from being in Broward where whites are the majority [White (non-Hispanic): 43.5%; Black (non-Hispanic): 26.7%; Hispanic or Latino of any race: 25.1%] vs Miami-Dade [Hispanics or Latinos of any race: 62.4%; Black (non-Hispanic): 19.5%; White (non-Hispanic): 17.8%] or if it comes from hockey not being preeminent outside white culture (the NHL has to be like 95% white). Sunrise is probably the best place for them, as that's where their key audience lives. Also a decent amount of Canadians in Broward.
  5. I'm not sure what is not to like...I like the idea of having a college tourney there in March.... Because I don't like that the Marlins won't play the first game in their home.
  6. I chuckled at One major benefit for fans, as our own Rob Neyer noted in June, is that the Rangers and Astros would be able to establish a meaningful rivalry. The astros aren't good enough to foster any type of rivalry, much less with the rangers. These alignments tend to last very long, and teams don't stay terrible forever. Absolutely true. Just 6 years ago we'd be talking about this flipped, with the Astros being the WS team and the Rangers being the losing team. (And 6 years before that, the Rangers were in the playoffs and the Astros were in last place.)
  7. I know they (Samson) were talking about this as a possibility earlier in the year. I personally don't like it but whatever.
  8. Man, I felt so defeated after that second Lightning goal. Murph had stopped in the middle of his "Panthers GOAL" because of it but it felt so great at the end to win. Great crowd today too.
  9. I doubt there is a bidding war. I suspect the Marlins are trying to run their price up, and their suitors don't want to pay it. We're a "work of art" now. Monetarily, I think Loria is a lot more proud of this team than anybody else. And you doubt it because....?Why do you believe there is one? Samson said so? Pffft, lets be real... I haven't said there was or wasn't because I don't base things on absolutely nothing, that'd be a really dumb way to go through life.
  10. Mike Mordecai...Russ Mormon???? Mordy's probably up there but he's a lesser Mez (less games, worse bat, less positions). Morman only appeared in 57 games over 4 years.

  12. The biggest foolishness was including Amezaga name on that team...Damn a stupid dance goes a long way! Have we forgotten about Preston Wilson, Devon White or the Juan Pierre once patrolled CF at Dolphin stadium or whatever you wanna call it these days? Each and everyone of them shined in their moment of Marlins lore Mez wasn't on the team for CF (nobody was, it was Miggie, Niner, and Sheff in the OF), he was there for bench player. Your distaste for Mez's play in CF is legendary but dude was a bench player who appeared 120-130 games a year before getting injured in his 4th year here. In two of those years, he played 7 different positions. The only other reasonable choices would be All-Time (who only PH), Alex Arias (who wasn't as flexible), and Mike Redmond (who obviously couldn't really PH).
  13. No way. I'm upset when it's not at least sweater-worthy on Christmas. Well, to be perfectly honest, it's been like 15 years since I've been here for Christmas proper.
  14. A bigger problem is getting down early. 14-3 against KState, 21-7 against VT, and 10-0 against Maryland. Tough to come back each time when you're playing catch up for most of the game. Worth mentioning they started down against Bethune-Cookman too. Luckily, they're not a real team.
  15. Thanks Admin.
  16. I think they overuse his father. He needs to be more of an asshole and less of a son talking to his father in that show. I couldn't disagree more. His father is what keeps it from being every other "opinionated dick talks about sports" show on ESPN.
  17. I want to leave Miami, but that doesn't mean I won't miss it. I just hate the weather. What? You don't love 88 degree Christmas mornings? I do love 70 degree Christmas. Miami's winters are about as awesome as it gets.
  18. Nope, mostly people I meet in day to day activities, people in line, driving behind me or in front, people who come in for customer service at my job and act like scum. Professors at school, even some students (FIU) Most of the time, people are caught up in their own BS. Your driving 80 on the left hand lane, they beep and flash lights because they want to go 100MPH. People don't hold doors, say thank you, or even notice when you do something as kind as giving up your seat on the metrorail for someone. Let me guess...you've never lived anywhere outside of South Florida. I was thinking that too. Hell, that's what I say when most people talk about leaving Miami for these reasons.
  19. Sooo, generally speaking, while our logo seems to be too colorful, the key is gonna be that our unis are simple enough that the colorful logo is something that pops off the uniforms and thus, as a whole, isn't as appalling as others have found the logo itself to be? Yes? no? All of those are fugly and look like they were created by the same guy that created the Devil Rays' old uniforms. I don't see it. At all. Like, what? I'm not referring to the colors, but much like the Rays, those just seem to scream: "Hi, we're an expansion team and are required to look ridiculous." Just seems like only the person that designed those Rays uniforms can sit there and think this looks good. Just... JUST NO! Only people who are blind can sit there and think this looks bad. See, I can make silly, unsubstantiated, sweeping statements too.
  20. It's a sh*t hole if you live there, nice if ya don't. Ding ding ding we have a winner. Most of the people live here are pieces of sh*t. The weather and some parts of town are awesome. The people, I wish they'd jump off a building so thy can repaint the sidewalks. Most people you associate yourself with you, maybe. Ding ding ding we have a winner. Most of the people live here are pieces of sh*t. The weather and some parts of town are awesome. The people, I wish they'd jump off a building so thy can repaint the sidewalks. Generally speaking, people are people. If you don't like the people here, you won't like them almost anywhere. Thumb like.
  21. So we're going to look like the Orioles without the bird. You can do that with any color. Even the Mariners did teal first.
  22. There's this crazy thing in the AL called a DH.. and the yanks need one. His bat isn't bad but it's not good enough to be a DH for them, at least not when there are a lot of equal or better DH-worthy bats in Free Agency.
  23. I really want a blue cap like that.
  24. Yeah, the Yankees kinda have a 1B.
  25. I know what it's like to have ears that massive at that age.
