So you want the guy who can't get a stadium built and has a lower payroll then we do instead of Loria? OK... I'd take their GM and farm system, but owner? No thanks. Give Loria and Co. credit. They did what most people thought was impossible and saved the future of baseball in South Florida. Winning will come and go, but we'll have a team here forever. For that we owe our current ownership a great deal of gratitude.
October 14, 201114 yr There is no way that the Rays can survive in that ballpark. Jokes aside about the Rays poor attendance, they are in worse shape than the Marlins were because there are very few people that live within a reasonable distance from that location in St. Pete. It's going to be hard for them to sustain high attendance that way, even if they are winning.
October 14, 201114 yr If the Rays want to be successful in the TB area, they'll need to move to fairground area of Tampa. Then they can get more of the Orlando area fans and still draw the Tampa/St. Pete fans. I know taking that extra 45-60 minutes off of the drive and traffic would greatly increase my willingness to attend Rays games (at least ones not played by the Marlins or Red Sox).

A stadium location @ 75 and I-4 would actually be awesome, specifically at the fairgrounds. Easy access for most people
