Posted August 5, 201113 yr Preseason Top 25 just came out and games start in a little less than a month. 1. Oklahoma 2. Alabama 3. Oregon 4. LSU 5. Florida State 6. Stanford 7. Boise State 8. Oklahoma State 9. Texas A&M 10. Wisconsin 11. Nebraska 12. South Carolina 13. Virginia Tech 14. Arkansas 15. TCU 16. Ohio State 17. Michigan State 18. Notre Dame 19. Auburn 20. Mississippi State 21. Missouri 22. Georgia 23. Florida 24. Texas 25. Penn State Miami is currently 29th (USA Today) I think Stanford wins the whole thing this year. Notable opening weekend games Boise - Georgia Oregon - LSU Miami - Maryland FAU - UF LA Monroe - FSU
August 5, 201113 yr I think Arkansas wins the SEC this year. Still not sure who I like to win it all. Lamar Miller, Sean Spence, and the two safety positions for Miami should be fun to watch this year. Not expecting huge things out of Golden in his first year but should get us to a bowl game. The countdown to Mike Locksley's firing starts... NOW! At least we have the best TE in college football(Lucas Reed). If he actually had a QB to throw him the ball his stats would be off the charts.
August 5, 201113 yr Watch out for the Hawks... have always played their best when they're under the radar. PSU ranked.. lol God I can't wait for the Iowa-Nebraska game the last game of the year on black friday.. a rivalry is born. Big Ten CHampionship game this year is gonna be sweeeeet
August 5, 201113 yr No way should FSU be ranked so high and ahead of Andrew Luck's team breaking in a new starting QB. It must be because of the unfairly easy division they play in. One of the techs needs to switch divisions to make it more balanced.
August 6, 201113 yr Really excited for FIU football this year. Let's see how they react to being the favorites. I think the running game is going to take a step back, but I think Wesley Carrol's going to be in the discussion for Conference OPotY.
August 7, 201113 yr Author Seantrel had back surgery. Golden said if the surgery was successful, he may be able to play this year. But it is serious surgery....I'd rather him just redshirt this year.
August 7, 201113 yr The Seminoles had the most dominating recruiting class seen in a while. If they don't win the ACC Championship this year they suck, all time choke. FAU - UF isn't very notable. Anything less than a 20 point win will be very disappointing. Same goes for FSU - LA Monroe except a Seminoles loss would be extremely hilarious. "Weis era" offense for the win. Expect Driskel in Week 3 after Brantley has thrown 4 interceptions through his first 2 games.

August 16, 201113 yr Author The list. August 17, 201113 yr I really hope this doesn't get Miami football the death penalty but I wouldn't be surprised if it does. That's just too many names and who knows if more will come out.
August 17, 201113 yr Wouldn't they have to prove some sort of institutional fault? I mean, a list that large lends itself to the idea that there was just general negligence/head in the sand kind of stuff going on. But I would imagine they would still have to prove that school/team leadership was either involved or (knowingly) let it happen. Ugh.
August 17, 201113 yr Well, there's a picture with Donna Shalala holding a check from the guy, so they knew who he was.
August 17, 201113 yr NCAA scholarship rules are like tax code (except the people who made the NCAA scholarship rules fully understand them). Every school has a compliance officer because the rules are so complicated. I think it never occurred to(some of them at least) that they were violating scholarship rules.
August 17, 201113 yr Author Yeah, I don't expect Shalalalala to be here for too much longer. Anyways, former players including Wilfork and Hester kept their mouth shut when asked about Shapiro. Tyrone Moss is the lone one to talk....I dunno why he would.
August 17, 201113 yr RIP University of Miami football program. 1926-2011. sucks to suck. I can't help but smile. This is a glorious day!

You're kidding yourself if you think whatever happened "before" is anything like what's going on right now. It's going to be awfully hard for Miami to fully recover from something like this, and if they ever do it is going to be several years down the road. It could take decades of rebuilding. Look at what happened to SMU in the 80s. They were given the so called "death penalty" by the NCAA and were forced to cancel 2 seasons and lost 55 scholarships over the course of four years. A once promising program only had one winning season in the next 20 years and didn't get to a bowl game until 2009. And what went on at SMU doesn't even compare to what went on at UM. The NCAA is going to throw the book at them.

You're kidding yourself if you think this kind of stuff isn't going on at FSU and other top schools. It's not a good situation, and it obviously sucks that we got caught, but you might not want to be so high and mighty.
August 17, 201113 yr Well, there's a picture with Donna Shalala holding a check from the guy, so they knew who he was. the fact that they knew he was a booster (even a douche booster for that matter) doesn't mean they knew what was going on though. I mean they very well may have, but still... LeBatard's show today should be great.
