  1. The font is a slight tweak of Futura, by the way. It's very much not the Miami Vice font, which is Broadway.
  2. The internal options are crap, at least for the start of next season. I'd be ok if they didn't go the Ramirez route, but I'd only be happy with the internal options if they happened to be signing a legitimate SS and moving Hanley to third, or signing a big time hitter and making a trade for a third basemen. Matt Dominguez, Donnie Murphy, Greg Dobbs, or Emilio Bonifacio starting at a power position won't exactly be generating a buzz going into next year. It's not really a power position anymore. Let's put it this way; it is not a defensive position like SS, 2b, CF, or C. We need to aim our sights higher than having players that (except for Bonifacio) are not starting caliber players at any position. If they are intent on starting Bonifacio, it should be at center or second, where his ability to play would make his bat a plus, not a position like second, where his bat would play average at best compared to the league. If this news is true, which in truth it probably isn't, it means that the team is more than happy to vainly believe that merely having JJ & Hanley back, plus adding one more capable starter, will take this team from irrelevant to contender. League average slugging for third baseman this year was .390, just one point over catchers and second basemen and twenty points less than centerfielders. Only Reynolds, Beltre, Longoria, Ramirez and Sandoval ranked amongst the top 60 in home runs. That's the same as the number of catchers, second baseman and centerfielders and only one more than shortstops (with Hanley injured).
  3. I came here to post this. That could not be more awesome.
  4. The ceremony was about 50 minutes long, btw. I wish I still had a capture card so I could record it from my DVR and post it. Thanks. That's going to be hard to find. If anyone can upload, I'm sure a lot of us will appreciate it. It's highly likely I do eventually.
  5. Orioles fans are really enjoying this. This was probably the biggest night for them in 14 years. We did it to the Mets, I know how they feel.

  7. That world series trophy was just a replica right? It looked a bit small. If not, why was there only one? It's the real trophy (there are usually a couple made, though). Oh, and they're both there. The 2003 trophy is a little harder to see because it's silver instead of gold.
  8. I wouldn't even know what pictures to post. I took pictures and video of everything I could think of... final data size used on my SD card? 6.83 GB.
  9. Can Johnny Bake even catch anymore? I saw him catch during his rehab at Jupiter but maybe you have a point. We had a distinct lack of Bake behind the plate since he came up. Only time I saw him back there was when he was warming pitchers up.
  10. I love Pudge and being part of the standing ovation for him was amazing but... I'd rather have Johnny Bake be our backup than Pudge. But I wouldn't be mad it it, love Pudge.
  11. That's the best thing I've ever seen.
  12. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIEND! AND WE'LL KEEP ON FIGHTING 'TIL THE END! RAYS WIN! AL WILD CARD! SUCK ON THAT HATERS! See? Also, don't go singing that song until your standing at the end. It's poor form.
  13. I just find the Rays and their fans kind of annoying ever since the summer of '08. Their fans were so much cooler when they lost. And let us not forget that we had pretty much a full house tonight... and they're in extra innings in a 1 game playoff race and people are walking out the door in a half full crowd. And we get sh*t for bad fans. Yeah, that was ridiculous. I don't know how they couldn't show up for this. I get that the stadium sucks but for THIS?! Come on. I just find the Rays and their fans kind of annoying ever since the summer of '08. Their fans were so much cooler when they lost. I bet a lot of people would say that about Red Sox after before 2004 too. I bet they were but I just about never interact with Red Sox fans.

  15. What an epic night of baseball. I might have been the only guy here upset about the Braves choke, but damn that AL chase was awesome and made up for it. I wanted both teams who got eliminated to win for selfish reasons but I sure as hell am not sad about how this ended up.
  16. If this was 2012 we'd be saying "The Rays have won homefield advantage for the 1-game playoff!" Agreed. That's why I hate the new plan. Tonight never would have happened. Perhaps, but we'd be opening up the possibility for a night like this AND 2 games tomorrow. 2nd and 3rd place in the WC could be fighting for the last spot. I don't think it's fair to say what you're saying. It also lowers the possibility of one team running away with the WC. The beauty of tonight was that it was still the culmination of 162 games that all contributed. One game playoffs are idiotic and un-baseball. Bingo. If this was next year, the Sox could undo there collapse and undo the Rays surge with a single win. One bad start by Price and that's it.

  18. HOLY CRAP! HOW?! WHAT?! OH MY GOD!
  19. Braves announcers: "Tough one to swallow right there." It's always tough to swallow when you choke. REHASH REHASH. It's not rehashing, it's multiple dissemination.

  21. He did not say Perry Hill's name... He said that he was already talking to "Bone" before the game.
  22. That still doesn't make it sound like Ozzie is the primary factor. We'll see, I guess. I'm sure Ozzie might have some bargaining power, but in the end I think that the dollar amounts of the contracts and the perception of the Marlins' overall competitiveness will have much more power in attracting free agents than Ozzie Guillen would. “But here’s the bottom line -- he’s a winner. He’s won before and the reason he’s going to Florida is they want to win there and they think he’s the best answer This is the main (only?) reason I think getting Ozzie is going to help us getting FA. It's a message. This sends a message to FA that we're going for it. Nobody thinks Ozzie is going to come here to lead some also-rans when he could have been taken by a larger name. This gives the impression that Miami is going to go for the win.
  23. To anyone who likes the Marlins' new logo: I knew I felt funny.
  24. $2.5M a year is only like 1M above league average (and that's based on older numbers).
