  1. Look, I'm just going to say this... Rollins had a great all around season. He played a postion harder to field. 30 SS Hrs to 36. LF..... Come on! 100 RBI from a leadoff? Way more steels. only 85 SO compared to compared to 126? The award could have gone either way. Nothing to cry about, J-Roll Deserved it. So did Holliday. J-Roll won. You guys are mad because he is a Phillie.
  2. shouldn't have won the mvp, gold glove, or silver slugger awesome Yeah, you're right. J-Roll Stinks.
  3. Hey everyone not sure if you guys remember me I am an Astros fan living in Miami that lurks here and occasionally posts here. Anyways all of this talk about the Marlins looking to possibly trade Willis and Cabrera got me thinking of how nice it would be to see them in Astro uniforms. I came up with a hypothetical trade situation and wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis for Michael Bourn, Ty Wigginton, Troy Patton, Hector Gimenez and Matt Albers This trade gives you guys a starting CF, replacement 3B and a stud young pitcher in Patton along with a serviceable pitcher in Albers. Gimenez could be the wild card here. He is coming back from rotator cuff surgery but he was scheduled to be the starting catcher for the Astros until the recent emergence of Towles but if healthy could be a really good catcher for you guys for years to come and in my book is a much better option than Yorvit. Also with the exception of Ty Wigginton all of these players would be under club control for a few years to come. Let me know what you guys think. Also feel free to call me an idiot, moron or whatever but only if you do it in a way that is funny, witty or entertaining. You do know your new GM is Ed Wade right? He will rape your farm system and get rid of all of your young tallent for Middle Relievers... Ala Polanco for Urbina, that worked out well. You traded away lidge for, A CF that cant hit... MR in Geary who has lost his edge, and AA prospect who is on the verge of being in his late20's and has a hole bigger than the grand canyon in his swing. have fun w. that
  4. Not Sayin the decision is Justified, but J-roll Broke into the 20-20-20-20 Club. Here's a Breakdown of the stats from both players. Maybe Hanley should have won, but dont diminish J-Roll's season J-Roll 139 Runs 212 Hits 38 2B 20 3B 30 HR 94 RBI .296 AVG .344 OBP .531 SLG .875 OPS 380 TB Hanley 125 Runs 212 Hits 48 2B 6 3B 29 HR 81 RBI .332 AVG .386 OBP .562 SLG .948 OPS 359 TB
  5. i think that second question determines the answer to the first question. with that being said... no idea Ok so let's start with this.. where does Miggy Rowand Hunter Cameron Loshe Go and we'll work from there.
  6. Where do you guys think the teams finish in 08, and what players will land where before next spring?
  7. :lol After the season Wes Helms had at the plate you have zero reason to reject Cabrera for his defense. Cabrera could hit 50 home runs in that park. I think you are missing the point. The phillies need pitching, That is why I brought up the discussion. I dont feel the Phillies NEED the extra bat in the lineup, since they already score enough runs. I also feel that Miggy is destined to play 1st base or DH. I know you guys love him and he is a great hitter, but it doesnt take an expert to see he is terrible at fielding 3rd anymore. He is better suited to go to a team who needs a DH, or 1st. The phillies aren't going to waste prospects or money on a guy who does something the lineup doesnt need. They need more Defense at the hot corner and above average bat. I cant imagine Miggy out there with moyer on the mound facing right handed batters, It'd be a nightmare. I'm not trying to be an ass, But anyone can see that the Marlins Defense was the worst in the NL. You have an excellent batter in Miggy, as well as Hanley.. And above average hitter with Ugla at second. The problem is non of them can play a lick of Defense. IF I were in charge of the Marlins... Id sign Miggy long term and move him over to 1st base. I'd try and convert Hanley into the new CF you guys are looking for. Get Ugs some serious work in the off season and try and keep him at second. I feel like Willingham is a nice player, so I'd keep him at RF I'd take a look and see who is cheap and has a decent glove at 3rd base.-- Maybe Boone to re-sign and play 3rd? I dont know I didnt see much of him last year. Then go out and try and get a shortstop who is not a defensive liability in the field. (I think a guy like abraham nunez who is a Vac with his glove) could fit in nicely. the more ABs he gets the better hitter he is. but whatever, I'm sure you guys disagree :-P first willingham plays LF not right. second aaron boone is not a full time starter anymore...he just doesnt hit enough. third hanley is a special player and will develop into a better SS than nunez could ever be. plus the answer to 3B when cabrera is traded and he will...it should come from the dodgers in the form of andy laroche... so in short im glad ur not the marlins gm..but we all are entitled to our own opinions sorry for the Typo I meant LF.

  9. Never Said Miggy. We don't have a spot for him anyway. If he was at 3rd and Burrell in left that gives the whole left side of the ballpark to hitters. 2 huge defensive liabilities. If we had 1st base open for him, I'd want him though.
  10. Jaramillo is garbage Werth and Dobbs are nice fill ins, but meaningless to us Carrasco is a nice arm, but nothing wonderful and while I like Myers, he probably makes too much for us anyway Thanks for your honest opinion.
  11. The Phillies obviously just obtained Lidge from houston. IF the Marlins HAD to trade D-train to Philadelphia, What would you guys take... Myers is said to be available... I know guys would like a young cheap promising catcher as well as a young affordable outfielder. My thought would be Carlos Carassco (Minor League Pitcher, Who may be soon rdy for the Bigs) Jaramillo (Minor League Catcher, Close to being MLB rdy-Probably is on the Marlins) Brett Myers (signed reasonably for the next 2 years) and Jason Werth (Arb Elligable) ---------- Maybe Throw in Gregg Dobbs, if 3rd Base is Vacant (and If necessary) For D-Train, who is Due a lot of money soon and Mitre (who I like because he is a sinker ball pitcher) To me, we take more of the risk because D-Train has kind of been ass in the past 2 seasons. You guys get a proven Big league starter/ closer (I also am aware you guys dont think highly of him) and several young players including pitcher catcher and OF that fits the current salary of the marlins. I'm not interested in starting a flame war, I just though that given the marlins Current salary restrictions, A move like this could work for both teams. The Phillies now, and the Marlins perhaps in the next season or 3.... Please just looking for Baseball talk, No insults.
  12. I rather not respond to a Philly fan so I fart in your general direction. I've got no problem with good-natured rivalry, but is there any reason to be so callous? Frankly the fact they didn't Fedex each and every one of us at MB.com a cheesesteak after we took the Mets apart is reason enough for me. True. I will now take the opportunity to call each and every Phillie fan a doodie-head. :lol hahahaha We do owe you big for that! I knew as soon as the mets got you guys fired up, all the phillies needed to do was win the next day. I knew you're boys would come out swingin!
  13. Ahh. For some reason I remember it being Girardi. thanks for the info guys!!! What's the latest with the new stadium, any closer to getting a deal?
  14. Well Girardi made it public by cursing at the owner during a day game at the open air of Dolphin's Stadium. Apparently Loria (the owner) was hectoring the umpire over the strike zone, Girardi didn't like it and told Loria to "shut the f*** up." The FO then decided to leak everything they'd been disappointed with since day one. Hey thank's a lot for the info. Hot stove has officially begun, I hope the offseason is good for you guys.
  15. Hey I was wondering if you guys could tell me who made the fued public with girardi and upper managment, and exactly what it was about... We are having a discussion about it on the phillies board, and I thought you guys would know best.
  16. Is that two or three brawls we've been in this year? The Phillies, Mets... and for some reason I want to say another team as well. If you call a shoving match (the phils marlins) a brawl then, so be it.
  17. LETS GO MARLEES! Good luck today. Your help is greatly appreciated. Muck the Fets.
  18. What's wrong with the OB location? I have been to a ton of Canes games there. The people who own the homes in the area seem nice, especially when you're dropping $$ to park and party in their front lawn. As mentioned before by someone, if you know Miami a little bit it is easy to get out of the area without waiting in traffic for to long. As a Phillies fan it is in my best interest to see you guys stay put, so I can see my team play when they come to town. I really liked the foresight and imagery you you guys have used by superimposing images on the map to show exactly what you are talking about. Can retractable roofs withstand Hurricane winds? Or would you keep the roof open in that event?
  19. Man how come you guys gotta play like its game 7 last night, and tonight its "welcome to the majors night" against the mets :-P
  20. pitching is quality tonight eh?
  21. Resign Boone and make him your third basemen Waste of money Cabs is playing a fine 3B these days Well anything Is considered a waste with your ownership.. although i noticed armando benitez has a hefty salary. talk about a waste.
  22. Resign Boone and make him your third basemen
  23. The marlins lead the league in errors, that may have something to do with it... Your 3B has 18 errors Your SS has 16 errors The bats are Great no doubt, but that is rediculous. Cabrera has no business being a 3rd basemen with the weigt he put on. He needs to be moved to first. I know I will be flamed for that, but it is the truth. Cabs has lost about 10-15 lbs since his albatross days in April/May he's in much better shape than he was he doesn't need to be moved anywhere whatever, the #'s are the #'s, and you can tell me he lost 10, 15 pounds, but how many bases has he stolen this year compared to last? he is a gaping hole there at 3rd. There is no shame in moving him to first.
