That's not what it means at all. "East coast bias" has to with the fact people on the east coast don't see west coast teams play because of the time difference. Since they don't get to see those teams, they discount them.

Hanley not getting the award over Jimmy Rollins is ridiculous. Though Rollins had a solid year, Hanley's was better. And on top of that Rollins plays in a ballpark which is the epitome of hitter friendly. Hanley plays in the polar opposite of Citizen's Bank.

 

Also, a lot of people would argue that the 3rd base award belonged to Chipper (or Admin as Nny called him). Wright didn't have a better offensive year than Cabrera but they were fairly even in most categories.
