Let's be honest, we're weaker now
Despite a Sun-Times report to the contrary, the White Sox offered Scott Schoeneweis a contract prior to Saturday's deadline. Unfortunately for their fans, the White Sox are going to put Schoeneweis into the rotation and pay him at least $1.5 million next season. He'll be someone to stay away from in AL-only leagues. here, now go eat crow link Calm down its called a mistake buddy :thumbup

Orioles = Rangers
Thanks for the props from some of you. they're 2 expensive 4th place teams. True, the O's will have a tough time finishing third or higher in their division, but that doesn't mean the O's are a bad team, they just happen to be in the strongest division in baseball. The AL East has arguably 3 of the 5 best teams in all of baseball. Playing 40% of their games against the Yankees, Red Sox, and Blue Jays is tough, but they wouldn't be any better off if they signed Millwood and Colon instead of Tejada and co. I don't think what place a team finishes is a perfect indicator of how good a team is. Who's better: the second place Marlins, or the first place Cubs? Why are they nontendering moss?? They are probably non-tendering moss because he'll cost a lot in arbitration because of his very good performance in 2002. He was awful last year, and since he's a control pitcher, he doesn't have overpowering stuff to fall back on. He was really just a throw-in when the Orioles traded Ponson for Ainsworth. Ainsworth was the jewel of the deal. Plus the O's may sign Ponson back. So your trying to tell me a team with R Lopez as their ace has good pitching? If lopez joined the marlins he mite have been a 3rd or 4th starter at best, ok pitching yes, but good pitching no. R. Lopez won't be the ace, he might make the starting rotation as the 4th or 5th starter. And all im saying is, its been proven that teams can win with pitching and no hitting, never does a team do it the other way around. That's ridiculous. Take last year.: Good-hitting, bad pitching teams like the Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Cardinals all fared as well or better than the ultimate good-pitching, no-hitting team: the Dodgers.uh?? where did toranto and st louis end up last year?? and the red sox had some pitching, two of thebest pitchers in the al in lowe and pedro, they had much better pitching than toranto and st louis. And its definately true that teams can win with no offense. How about the braves through the years, im just saying pitching win championships, offense sells tickets, pitching is just more valuable than offense, just like the nunber one example here, the Rangers.

Some names that are speaking to me: P Damian Moss, P Jason Johnson, P Scott Sauerbeck, P Danys Baez, OF Jay Payton, P Orlando Hernandez, P Scott Strickland, P Mark Redman, P Cliff Politte. If Moss comes cheap, I'd take him. If not, hell no. Johnson is going to be persued by many, not so sure if he is affordible. Saurbeck is who I want. Baez is right up there with Scott on my bullpen wishlist. No Payton. Hernandez for the right price. Strickland is too much of a risk for a small market team. If Redman is over $3 Mill, I wouldn't want him. Who? If your talking about Politte its a who was a more than decent pospect with the jays, they wanted him to close so escober can start but it never worked out. But he earned 845k in 2003 which is in our price range.

Politte has some pretty solid career numbers http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stat...ontext=pitching High eras early in his career bring his career era up a bit.
-
More lefties needed
Velerio de la santos was non-tenderd. Hard throwing lefty. Had a 9.00 era with phili but only 4 innnings. But overal had a 4.50 era. And a 4.28 career era. just a thought. He earned 925k in 2003.

Alex Gonzalez re-singed/Redman back to Marlins?
What the couldve done is put a club option in the contract, if hes the same old aj, pick up the option if not no problem.
-
What does religion really do?
Well I am not religious at all. Inface i dont believe in god. I dont want to hurt anyone, i knows whats right and whats wrong, my religion is my conscience.

Baez
I bet someone will pick him up maybe for 3.75-4 million and who would've thought the Tribe would've given him that kind of money after he went 10-11 or 10-12 with a 4.41 ERA in 2002. sure it's better than 2-9 but it's still not worth big money. Teams are willing to open up their checkbooks for anyone...thats my point. I think he was a starter then, starters tend to earn more.
-
Baez
Well hes cuban, theres always a paycut to play in miami, he didnt have a 5m a year season last year, and the markets not as high anymore, those guys arent going to ask for 5m again.
