  1. Damn CODY! Can't believe he just stood there watching strike 3. Anything close like that you have to swing at.
  2. thanks for catching that error again professor. my bad. it's great having a proofreader on a site like this. What error? I'm asking seriously...are you GoFishX2? He needs to stfu though :notworthy No thanks, I'm just fine.
  3. The Rockies loss is much worse than any loss that could happen from here on out. Anyone who uses the terms 'heartbroken' or 'devastated' must not have watched that game because this implosion is so minor it's not even funny.

  5. This is beyond pathetic we cant afford to lose this one. Do you honestly believe this team still has a chance to win the wild card? Give me a break man. Live in the real world, not the world of fanatacism. Unbelievable. dude this is baseball, anything can happen. If they lose today, can they make it? doubt it. will i write them off? not till the x is on. just kind of fan i am nothing is over until the standings are closed I guess you're right. I suppose Yanks were being a little premature last night with all the fanfare about it being the last game at Yankee stadium, when they can win 7 in a row and the Sox can lose 7 in a row and the Twins can lose 5 of 7 or so, thus allowing Yankee stadium to perhaps host another game after the playoff victory over the Sox at Fenway. He can play that game too. I guess the Mets won the division last year b/c they had a 7 game lead with 17 to go...I guess the Rockies didn't make the playoffs last year (impossible). Why don't you let people believe what they'd like to believe? There is no right or wrong in this situation...so just shut the f*** up. And for what it's worth...I actually agree with you. Doesn't mean I have to knock others for believing, otherwise. 7 games back with 7 to go is a bit different than 7 games back with 17 to go, but that's ok. And I'll say what I want, when I want, and how I want and not even a person like yourself, who obviously lives in a glass house, can do anything about it ok there Ericka.

  7. Kensing seems to suck EVERY TIME the game is on the line. This is the reason why the Phillies will win the division. When they get a lead...their bullpen holds. The Mets and Marlins...not so much. The guy gives up a base hit with the bases that were loaded by someone else. He got the second out. Unload on Miller, not Kensing. agree Miller pitched 4 STRAIGHT BALLS to Joel Cabrera, ok i repeat Joel Cabrera not Albert Pujols.....ARE YOU FRACKING KIDIDING ME ? Don't forget Miller acting like a high school player and throwing to the wrong base. Marlins lack fundamental baseball knowledge. There's no other way to put it...their a dumb team. Oh, the irony....................................... whoops, my bad professor. let me try to correct myself before you use your red marker.....they're a dumb team...again, I apologize oh heavenly one.

  11. If we lose this game I'm going to be so heartbroken. Now we decide to slump again? Heartbroken? You act like this team is in the race. They were finished in August.
  12. Thank god the bad news bears returned. I had no idea who I was watching for the past week or so. Throwing the ball around, throwing to the wrong base...blah, blah, blah. I can't wait till a real roster is assembled.

So I am one of the several members on this great webiste that can't stand those ridiculous threads that say Fire Fredi, get rid of this guy because he can't hit with 2 strikes, and others "get rid of" threads.. Well, since I "love" those stupid threads so much I thought I would share some feelings and start my own.. FIRE BO PORTER! This guy is a complete MORON! How the hell he is coaching third base on a major league team blows my mind! The guy doesn't even know where he is standing for god sake. If this DUMBASS is coaching third base on this team next season I am going to flip. I mean fans sitting on the couch or in the stands have better judgment then him! Fish4life nevers has to many rants about the teams struggles because I try to be as positive ad I can, but throw that comment out the window and FIRE BO PORTER!! Thoughts? That is just plain stupid! Fire the 3rd base coach and this team is better? Wow! :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead The rant never said it would make the team better, it simply said the former DB from Iowa should be fired for incompetence. While most former and current 3rd base coaches are somewhat incompetent at times, Bo Porter is at the extreme end. He simply doesn't belong at that posititon.
  14. The way you want to talk to the reporters when you hit a walk off home run, you have to face them when you mess up. here comes my fan club. Players aren't obligated to talk to the media. The media seems to think they are entitled just because most players DO answer their questions. All that matters is what they do on the field. Fans worry too much about things that are out of their control. We pay to see players play the game, not to see them in the club house. . . . Except, like Marlins2003 said, they are obligated to talk to the media. It says so in their contract. Where does it say that? That sounds ridiculous. And what are they going to do if they DON'T? Several players don't talk to the media. I have a hard time believing that its in the contracts. As for the media in S. Florida, all they do is berate this team. Screw them. They don't hype this team at all. It's pretty easy to berate this team when they play Little League baseball every other night. I've read enough positive articles this year in the sentinel and herald so the lack of hyped up articles don't bother me. The media is S. Florida is tame compared to any other large market media. I'd love to read the entertaining articles that the NY Post, Times, or Daily News would pump out if they were covering the LL Marlins everyday.
  15. It might be some time before we see Gaby, Coghlan, Maybin, Raynor or any other Mudcat. With them being in the Southern league playoffs, I highly doubt any of them is called up prior to the end of their season. I'm not all that familiar with the length of their playoff system. Is anyone here?
  16. Puma is right. We're not a playoff team and we dont deserve it. Call up the spects and lets see what we have in store for next year. Funny how your opinion changed so drastically in 4 hours I'm sure if Volstad pitches well and the Marlins somehow defeat the Mets tomorrow that people will then begin to post unrealistic playoff expectations once again. People can be realists and fans at the same time. That's difficult for some people to understand, especially those who are all cuddly and positive about a fatally flawed team.
  17. Now that Fredi has his first complete game in, he just can't seem to get enough. Outstanding outing from JJ. Like I've said, if there is any pitcher I'd trust to hand the ball over to on the Marlins staff when the chips are down, it is JJ. I'd go with Nolasco, but it's certainly a toss up. If this trend continues, which there is no reason why it shouldn't, the Marlins staff in '09 should be as good as any in the NL.
  18. Reminds me of when everyone in New York got on Carlos Delgado for ignoring the media when he was playing abysmally for most of the year. Of course now that's back to destroying the baseball, everyone in New York loves him again. Its just sickening. I will judge guys for what they do on the baseball field. As for the rest, its not for me to comment on. Some guys simply need their space. Not everyone is the same, and nor should we expect them to act the same. We have no idea what its like to deal with the media. Besides, what kind of answers do you want Hanley to give? We're not stupid. We all saw what happened. Why bother asking the obvious except to try and get some juicy quote that gets a guy in trouble? It would be nice for Hanley to explain why he uses a glove the size of a giant Hefty garbage bag for infield play. Fredi on 790 said he wasn't aware that Hanley's glove was larger than normal. If I'm the manager and continue to see my best player having the same problem, don't you think I would meet with the player and investigate why it keeps happening? All I can say is Hanley is lucky he's in this market because he would be eaten alive in a place like NY, Philly, or Chicago. His ignoring reporters wouldn't just be found on a beat writer's blog, it would be full sports page article worthy.
  19. hey, if I had a say I would have Andino start, but that is just me. I have been a big fan of Andino's since he came over. He is a huge upgrade defensively at 2nd and has shown he does not belong in the minors, he is a starter in my eyes. He's not a huge upgrade defensively, mainly on account of the fact that #1 - he's a SS, not a 2B #2 - Uggla's not that bad defensively to begin with And much more important, in the realm of things that actually are huge, Andino would be a huge offensive downgrade. Uggla has the tools to not be considered bad defensively, but all told he lacks basic fundamental baseball knowledge, as evidenced by last night's episode in the 9th which make him suspect. Personally, I'd retain Uggla for '09. Whether I'd place him at 2nd is another story. I like Andino as well and I don't think we've seen enough of him to really be able to judge him. Sporadic pinch hit opportunities and a few spot starts or defensive replacements don't provide enough evidence to prove either way about his talent. His K ratio was very high when he was up though which concerns me. Coghlan is a guy I'd like to see be the 2B next season. Whether he is ready defensively is another story. Offensively, as someone mentioned previously, he is a very solid contact hitter with what appears to be a great eye at the plate, but Hermida was the same way at Carolina so who knows. All I know is that I simply can't stand to watch anymore little league baseball from this club. I have full confidence that Beinfest feels that same way and thus the defensive problems will be rectified. I know he's made some dumb mistakes, but Danny has been pretty good defensively this year. Over the course of the whole season I would tend to agree with you. However, his mental lapses, which happen way too often in all phases of his game, are irresponsible and thus call into question his true ability. I get that he's a dangerous offensive weapon when he's right, but he doesn't make adjustments at the plate, he doesn't watch video of his at bats which would help him do the latter, and he traditionally makes the routine plays not the great play. I don't know, I just like watching smart fundamentally sound baseball. I don't care if a guy hits 30 bombs a year and drives in near 100 runs - if that same guy simply doesn't take the steps necessary to improve himself and his game I have no use for him. Uggla seems to be set in his ways. That's not ok with me.

  23. As I gaze into my crystal ball, I see diarrhea. Hillarious
  24. I don't know if this will ease anybodys minds but the Mets have a tough rode ahead of them. They lost to the Phillies tonight and they play them again tomorrow. They then face us for 3 games, Milwakee 3 games, Phillies 3 games, Washington and Atlanta for 2 weeks (they won't win all of those games), the cubs for 4 games, and then finish up with us. We need to start winning tomorrow and then go on a winning streak. Hopefully this is the last bad game played. They will tighten it up and when they start playing with good pitching, (good hitting was displayed tonight), and the bullpen snaps out of it, I am betting we will make a push. Relax and think positively-if not next year does look good, however, this year is not over. What exactly does 'tighten it up' mean? Are you referring to the defense, bullpen, or lack of hitting? No way this team goes on streak. Since the end of May their nearly 10 game below .500. Their done and I'm somewhat glad. I want to see the dead wood sit while the kids come up from the minors. I've seen enough of this circus act. I couldn't care less if they end up 15 games under .500 just as long as they show that they can actually be considered a major league team more
  25. The only reason that DP wouldn't happen is if Hanley screws it up. I'm sorry, but because the possibility of his screwing it up exists doesn't mean it's not his fault. You're probably right. It's perfectly ok to give up 5 hits and 4 runs. Thank god Hanley screwed up that 'possible' double play ball because he took Gregg off the hook. That's you're reasoning and it's rediculous.
