August 29, 200817 yr Since the september call ups are in 3 days(correct me if im wrong), i wanna know who you guys, and girls, think we are gonna call up. You can also say who you want called up. the main people i wanna see called up are mcpherson, coghlan, and maybin.
August 29, 200817 yr At least McPherson and Maybin, if not more. If its just those two though, I wont be dissapointed. EDIT: Forgot about Gaby, cant leave him out.
August 29, 200817 yr Author Holy sh*t i forgot about ANDINO o and is maybin really ready? you mean 'spider' maybin. I dont know if hes ready, but he has been playing better. I just wanna see what the future holds.
August 29, 200817 yr The main guy i wanna see is McPherson. Hopefully he can play third and we can ship big jake out in the offseason cuz i cant take his all-or-nothing offense anymore.
August 29, 200817 yr Holy sh*t i forgot about ANDINO o and is maybin really ready? Not sure if he's ready but they basically have to call him up since he was the essential piece to the Cabrera trade and is our top prospect. I think Fredi even said he would be called up come September. From what I've heard, Maybin has a tough time hitting curve balls--and that concerns me that even with an extra year of minor league time he wasn't able to pick up on his ability to hit a curveball. Overall, his numbers at the plate this year in Carolina were rather disappointing (especially for a top prospect like Maybin)...but he did have some times where he was on a tear. It'll be interesting to see what he does in his time up in the bigs in September.

August 29, 200817 yr It might be some time before we see Gaby, Coghlan, Maybin, Raynor or any other Mudcat. With them being in the Southern league playoffs, I highly doubt any of them is called up prior to the end of their season. I'm not all that familiar with the length of their playoff system. Is anyone here?
August 29, 200817 yr I haven't heard anything about that curveball problem since May. I'm pretty sure he's adjusted to that. Since their ASG, and post his time on the DL Maybin has played exceptionally good baseball as I suspect we'll soon see. As for McPherson I'm not sure he doesn't just get a curtain call. I was listening to game the other night and again the broadcast guys remarked (several times now) that he's out of gas, he proved he was healthy and can play everyday but he's running on fumes these days.
August 29, 200817 yr Perhaps Brett Carroll? Isn't he out for the season? He's playing in Jupiter right now.
August 29, 200817 yr Maybin and Raynor would be nice, but after those two theres no one thats ready that I think will make much of an impact at the MLB level.
August 29, 200817 yr well, players on the 40 man roster currently not on the 25 man, in rough order of who I think has best chances of being called up Andrew Miller Robert Andino Frankie DLC Dallas McPherson Taylor Tankersley Ryan Tucker Jai Miller Rick VanDen Hurk Jesus Delgado Paul Hoover Mike Rabelo Scott Nestor Carlos Martinez And ofcoasre Maybin when the CAR playoffs are over. Raynor is unlikely to be called up since he's going to the AFL. To make room for Gaby, if we don't want to DFA somebody from the 40 man, the FO might just 60 day DL Pinto and shut him down for the season. With Coghlan probably coming up, I'm going to guess Carlos Martinez is the most likely to be DFA'd with how he's been this past year (got fat, the whole no ST cuz he didn't have a card, insobordination, plus the whole not pitching all to well)

Thanks for the info 2003, the marlins organization erred greatly with McP he would have been a great addition after the all-star break...now he's out of gas?
August 29, 200817 yr Here was my initial list of possibilities after scanning the minor league season stats: Tagg Bozied (reward for good season) John Gall Robert Andino Brett Hayes and/or Paul Hoover (4th catcher) Dallas McPherson (definitely deserving) Jai Miller (?) Chris Seddon (unlikely) Eulogio de la Cruz Dallas Trahern (probably will be shut down with thumb) Ross Wolf Taylor Tankersley Rick Vanden Hurk Willie Glen (unlikely, but reward for his AA year) Gaby Sanchez John Raynor Chris Coghlan Cameron Maybin Brett Sinkbeil (not sure of his status) Ryan Tucker Andrew Miller Brett Carroll injured: Badenhop De Aza Rabelo They are in no particular order, and I didn't take into account their roster status or may have missed some injuries or previous callups. Those were the ones I could see possibly being called up.

Elbow problem. Didn't RVH break a finger recently?? Miller will get the call and be in the pen until we shut down Volstad. That should be sooner rather than later. Total IPs is way up there. Then Pinto replaces Miller in the pen. Probably. Coghlan, Gaby and Maybin after their post season run at AA. Or at least 2 of those 3. Andino is the Marlins yo-yo, so that's a given. I would have thought Dallas, but reading 2003's comments makes me unsure now. Maybe Frankie. Why not?
