Look around folks, we're the last true fans this team has
Van Greco replied to dirtyarcade's topic in Miami Marlins
I was 12 when the Marlins first entered the league. I loved and played baseball so I had been into the game since I was about 5 or so. Before the Marlins I was a Dodgers fan because I grew up in Vero Beach where the Dodgers had spring training every year. When the Marlins came I was so excited. Finally, we Floridians had our own team. They might suck from time to time, but they are still our team. Sports are a civic thing to me. The Marlins, the Dolphins and the Heat are not just franchises to me . They represent my home and it will always be my home. It's my city against your city. There could never be another baseball team for me. Just like no other place could truly be home besides South Florida. -
The last few years I've had tickets to every weekend home game. I'll try to make it to a weekday game as well when the matchup is good. Weekday games are tough though because of work. I had full season tickets when I was in college (2000-2003), but I still never made it to all 81.

Cogs has the right tools to be a good CF minus the weak arm and you know he's going to work hard to get better. He'll be fine.

C - CJ (Pudge is a better catcher, but CJ was a better Marlin catcher) 1B - D. Lee (this was one of the easier choices for me.) 2B - Luis Castillo (this one was really hard as Uggla was one of my favorite fish.In the end Luis just means more to the franchise) 3B - Mike Lowell SS - Hanley Ramirez OF - Miguel Cabrera OF - Jeff Conine OF - Gary Sheffield (would have loved to have found a way to get Floyd onto the team along with Pierre. OF is deep) B - Alfredo Amezaga P - Josh Johnson P - Kevin Brown (I think sometimes people forget just how good he was here) P - Dontrelle Willis P - Josh Beckett P - Brad Penny (Nolasco probably takes this spot in the next year or so) BP - Rob Nenn M - Trader Jack!

Great AB by Cogs.

That was a hell of a play by Infante to start the season.

If this is the floor projection, then we are in for something special with Stanton' career. If he can develop some semblance of plate discipline he could be one of the greats because when he hits the ball he doesn't just hit it, he destroys it.

I like Logan more and more each game. He has such a professional approach at the plate already and a beautiful swing. Sometimes I cringe when a ball gets hit to him out in left, but hey, he even had an assist tonight. Another nice game for LOMO and his dad got to see it. Awesome.

New ESPN article on Morrison and his father

It's really sad, but at least he gets to see his son play in the bigs before his time's up. That's gotta mean a lot to him as there's probably no way Logan becomes a major league ballplayer without his dad nurturing that love at a very young age.
