ESPN released an article this morning on Logan Morrison, with a focus on his father Tom, who is fighting Stage 4 lung cancer.

 

Apparently Tom wants to spend next year, what time he has left, shuttling around the country to watch Logan play wherever he can.

Pretty touching.

Yeh that is really sad, especially considering how young his father still is, just 51

It's really sad, but at least he gets to see his son play in the bigs before his time's up. That's gotta mean a lot to him as there's probably no way Logan becomes a major league ballplayer without his dad nurturing that love at a very young age.

That is upsetting. I do agree with Greco on his point, Tom had to have put in a lot of time with Logan to get him to where he is today.

 

Maybe things will change and Mr. Morrison will fight it and get through it. [i didn't see anywhere that he has a time stamp on him, so let's hope.]

 

 

Off topic - even if he plays through the rest of the season, will Logan have a chance at ROY for next year or will he exceed the requirements?

That's very sad, pray for a miracle but expect the worst. Thankfully he can at least plan for it to come, which makes it harder to deal with now but from my perspective at least they can spend every day like it's their last day together.

Unfortunately (Im not sure) I think the Marlins pretty much made it so that Morrison cant be eligible/wont get any consideration this year, and wont be eligible next year due to when they called him up.

I know there's nothing for this year.

He would need less than 130 ABs and he's already at 101 so it's highly unlikely that he'll be a rookie next year.

 

As far as this year, he is eligible as is every rookie but no one is voting in someone who came up in late July.

If I do make it down to the stadium someday, I know he will be sitting in the seat next to me in spirit.

Thanks, guys... When we get to 2012, I know it will be a very emotional season, especially if the Fish make play-offs... When Beckett tagged out Posada in '03, my dad was the first person I called right away

I'm so sorry Cyggy. It's terrible to go through for you and your family. I watched my motherdying of cancer for 9 months . I'll keep you in my prayers.

Just to add to what everyone else said, I'm willing to bet everyone who's read your post is keeping you and your family in their prayers (assuming they do that sort of thing).
