  1. Hiring/firing of Gonzalez. You can pick which one is the mistake/not mistake, roflol
  2. I was certain that he did, but if he wasn't it would certainly be important to play hurt to take care of his family. (Although he wife is doing her residency in the Miami area.) By playing hurt I would think he is endangering his longevity as a baseball player. So it must be a macho thing.
  3. Thanks, Jack, for explaining it to him. Thought the heading was enough.
  4. Can a heading be edited? Maybe we should change it to what's been happening this year. Not just his year. Returning back too quickly? Forcing to play when hurt? Is it a macho thing or is there a monetary loss??
  5. Congrats JT!! 6. It was nice to see Stanton hit that homer near the large board he broke I believe during the 1st year of Marlins Park. MLB ✔ @MLB You should run in the opposite direction when @Giancarlo818 swings like that. Yikes! #Crushed Miami Marlins ✔ @Marlins Putting the team on the scoreboard – literally. #StantonSmash | #LetsGoFish ESPN Stats & Info ✔ @ESPNStatsInfo Giancarlo Stanton has 6 HR in July, tied with Mike Napoli for the most in the MLB. Andrew Simon @AndrewSimonMLB Giancarlo Stanton with his 12th HR of 115+ mph over the past three seasons, most in MLB. His 2nd this season. Patrick Pinak @pinakk12 Giancarlo Stanton drilled the scoreboard on this . He's your NL leader in homers.
  7. Okay, let's go down memory lane looking at what we see as shortfalls/accomplishments over the years. It doesn't matter if it were players' contracts, players, staff hires/fires whatever. Let's rail/hail at this. You don't have to find a hail with a rail. But there are some!! HAIL: Trader Jack hire, bringing up Dontrelle Willis in 2003, new stadium, bringing back Niner RAIL: Getting rid of Cabrera, shipping out half the team to Toronto while promising some to be here MORE than a year(exaggeration), shipping out Andrew Miller, shipping out Lowell
  8. I'm also ready for change, but I don't want change until the new owner is in and HIS people are in position to make the PLAN and make the CHANGES. Making changes now is LUDICROUS. People are complaining, and rightfully so, that we have some BAD contracts on players the Marlins shouldn't have even bothered with. I don't mean Stanton (although the way it was negotiated was stupid because it was back loaded thinking he would not be a Marlin when it kicked in) but Chen, Locke (who thankfully we got rid of) some bull pen people and others I can't think of right now. What about the dumbness of that "closer" who was hired last year to do the 8th inning and couldn't find the ball if it was in his glove and now is closing elsewhere? SO MANY, MANY MISTAKES!!! So railing to change NOW is stupid and short sighted. Rail that it is taking too long for this sale to be completed. That's something that needs to happen sooner rather than later, and with new, fresh eyes hopefully it will be in the RIGHT DIRECTION and not the SPIRAL the Marlins and the fans have been in _________________ years. Fill in the blank yourselves.
  9. Although O'Grady gave up 3 runs, he had 55 strikes out of 91 pitches. That's just over 60%. Not bad for a rookie.
  10. Wonder how many hits Ichiro has now.
  11. Both pitchers must be working fast.
  12. JT on base!! 16th Dodger game with a hit. Like it that there are SO MANY stats in baseball!! Not sure a lot of them mean much, but nevertheless there are.
  13. That's not good either with 2 on the corners. Tooooo much Dodger blue in the stands.
  14. Not a way to start this game, Urena
  15. Kyle Sielaff ✔ @Kyle_Sielaff Coming up at 6:40 along the @MarlinsRadio Network, part 1 of my conversation with @Marlins starter @COGrady38. First pitch vs. LAD at 7:10. Speaking of O'Grady........when did he pitch and did he stay up and not just a one game up?? I haven't seen him.
  16. I saw this discussion in an article. And the belief that Stanton may be willing to waive the clause. But (1) he just paid mega bucks for a home which he may not want to live part time in, (2) there is like $295M left on his contract and the way other teams may take a slice (not the WHOLE thing) is for the "trade" be sweetened by one or more other players PLUS $$$. Now if it is true they are losing $70M this year, would it be wise to lose player(s) PLUS $$$. And you now what $$$ means right at a restaurant, yes??
  17. Thanks for opening, Jack.
  18. What can you say but Ramos had a bad night. Two wild pitches, walk, got into 3-X scenario so he had to throw strikes. And a little off but still a fast ball, Puig hit it out with a walk on bases. Dee had an error which gave up a run, but it didn't affect the final score, i.e., they won by 2 not 1. Other than the 9th the Marlins kept the Dodgers off base/low score and we had offense. It's like the problem tonight was that they gave up before the 9th inning was played. Volquez is out for Sunday so Koehler pitches. And last couple games hasn't been that great for Volquez anyway.
  19. Obviously from these discussions a lot of us see the negative in Samson and a lot of us see the positive in Samson. Weight of the balance isn't important at the moment. My guess is Samson stays on at least for the moment. He is in a position where he knows the workings of the operation, and I don't believe anyone can just slip into the role seamlessly. And as some has pointed out this position isn't in every team so however the roles have been split/meshed will be different elsewhere. Now a new owner comes in, and I guess we could look at the last owner turnover in other teams and see what has happened. But right now as I write this my opinion is Samson will stay on. How long is the question. If it is Mas he has a relationship with Samson, and it may be good or bad. Don't know, and I don't know if anyone can claim that knowledge in here. Yet he is a businessman. So although there are many want to see him out the door with Loria, it's my opinion it isn't going to happen at least until the new owner/staff is solid/solidified. Then we may be better able to know how good Samson is/was.
  20. Also if he sells he has a tremendous gain against any loss generated by the team. And he is going to lose A CHUNK to taxes. This year is different because I believe he feels defeated. Jose is gone, seems to hire the wrong people for positions (FO and ball players), never able to replicate the World Series win (or even come close!), he's hated by most in south Florida and not sure how much he is liked by the baseball owners, and he is getting old! Wonder if Samson is going to be completely different if he stays on. Just doing what Loria wants and not a _____________ that a lot of people think he is.
  21. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/5-predictions-for-mlbs-second-half/ar-BBEjS3x?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=U305DHP This author stated he doesn't think there will be trading done until the new owner arrives. In particular it was discussing Ozuna. (one line)
  22. I hadn't seen it so I pulled it up and has today's date I believe. But what I didn't know ESPN says....A source with direct knowledge of the possible purchase said the small group led by Mas appears to have the most solid footing and deepest pockets<-----reported 6/24/17. Anybody heard that before.
