I'm drunk
Hmmm... Gave yourself a swirly? Time to quit drinking. :mischief2 881704 I've never had one before, and I was wondering what it was like. 882762 I've always wondered what it would be like to hang off the underside of a car while it was doing 70. BRB

Suggestion for the Game thread forum
yeah and enable post counts aswell. people spend alot of time doing play by play for people outta town perhaps the posts should actually count? just an idea 877613 Actually, it would be a much better idea to drop post counts throughout the boards. After a few weeks of no post count numbers, most people would never bother thinking of them again. Which is the way it really should be, quality over quantity.

Art Teele shoots himself in Miami Herald lobby
They just said on WTVJ that Teele had called DeFede 90 minutes before the incident and said he was going to "leave a package in the lobby" for him. I'd say he had thought about it for a couple of hours.

It's not old until you can remember buying it on 8-track.

Miggy, our new shortstop
I dont think he has grown out of it i mean look at tejada and a-rod when he played ss. 876599 I believe he can play it if he has to, but both the guys you mentioned are far more agile than Miggy. As I mentioned earlier, my big concern would be if he gets hurt. I really think he is such a competitor that he would be trying to extend his range beyond what he is capable of in order to make a play.

Miggy, our new shortstop
*In a not so subtle attempt to redirect the thread back onto the original topic* While Miggy does have the SS background, I believe he has grown out of it. Other than bringing up a minor leaguer, is there anyone else on the current roster with an SS experience, either in the minors or college?

Miggy, our new shortstop
I bet Dontrelle could probably play shortstop better than Easley looked last night. 876353 hmmm...left handed shortstop. That would make things interesting.

Gettysburg Casino?
I know some of the folks that run the Battlefield tours in Gettysburg, so I'll have to give them a call and see how they feel about it all. It will probably be a "6 of 1, half dozen of another" type answer. More economic development means more potential people for them to get to, but may impact some of the historic nature of the area. I'll let you know when I talk to them.

Miggy, our new shortstop
Didn't Miggy play SS in the 2003 NLCS for a couple of innings? I can't remember precisely when it was. 876352 I believe it was for one inning. It was after a bunch of pinch hitters and substitutions in the top half of the inning.

Miggy, our new shortstop
I know he was a SS before being moved to 3rd when they thought they were going to get rid of Lowell, but I don't think seeing him play there is such a great idea anymore. Yes, he takes balls at 3rd several times a week (and is still more comfortable there than any other spot right now,) but short is a whole other story. He is a lot bigger than he ever was playing short, and kind of lumbers as he runs after balls. The lack of range really doesn't bother me as much as the possibility of him getting injured trying to range after everything. Lose him on an experiment like this and it really blows any chances the team may have of making a run. But, that's just my opinion.

Gettysburg Casino?
Interesting that the above story neglected to mention this: The 42 acres that LeVan has in mind are owned by another Gettysburg developer, Robert Monahan. He isn't one of LeVan's investors but is building a major project of his own, the $250 million "Gateway Gettysburg," directly across Route 30 from the casino site. It will consist of four hotels, a convention center, an eight-screen movie theater, restaurants and retail. Monahan's project is under construction. link It would seem the precedent for major development in that location has already been set. I doubt the casino is going to change a lot of things with a major project already underway just across the road. The only question is how many casino type places you need within a short range. The Gettysburg casino site is about 50 miles south of a racetrack/casino that will be operated by Penn National Racing (in Grantville, northeast of Harrisburg) and about 70 miles north of another Penn National facility, Charles Town Races and Slots in eastern West Virginia.

Getting out of hand...
Forget the title. Atleast I make valid statements in the thread. 876123 No, I believe you made several incorrect statements in the thread, and they were pointed out to you. It was best that Das closed it.

Does anyone else have to login every time
i doubt it has something to do with one's settings since its happening to many a number of us 873317 Yes, but given the total number of members on the board, it seems to be a small percentage. There has to be some common trend occurring here, it is just a matter of eliminating what it is not. Browser doesn't seem to matter, nor does the operating system. I know when I used GhostSurf I had that type of problem and had to tweak the settings. I still think it is security related. Anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, or a combination of those. Something is triggering it for some and not the majority. We'll just have to make sure we wake Admin up early and do not let him go to sleep until late. He must spend every waking minute on this problem. Sleep is overrated, he can rest in the off season :whistle (just trying to help you out, Boss man! )

Does anyone else have to login every time
Out of curiousity, have any of you downloaded any security updates in the last week or so? Just looking for an answer somewhere along the line. I am not experiencing problems on either computer. XP running IE on one, and ME running Firefox on the other. Has to be a security setting somewhere for it to only have an effect on a small cross section of the members. I'm assuming you are not all running the same Anti-virus/spyware software.

Hurricane Season
We're about to enter the peak of the hurricane season. Any day now, you're going to turn on the TV and see a weather person pointing to some radar blob out in the Atlantic Ocean and making two basic meteorological points. (1) There is no need to panic. (2) We could all be killed. Yes, hurricane season is an exciting time to be in Florida. If you're new to the area, you're probably wondering what you need to do to prepare for the possibility that we'll get hit by the big one. Based on our insurance industry experiences, we recommend that you follow this simple three-step hurricane preparedness plan: STEP 1: Buy enough food and bottled water to last your family for at least three days. STEP 2: Put these supplies into your car. STEP 3: Drive to Nebraska and remain there until Halloween. Unfortunately, statistics show that most people will not follow this sensible plan. Most people will foolishly stay here in Florida. We'll start with one of the most important hurricane preparedness items: HOMEOWNERS' INSURANCE: If you own a home, you must have hurricane insurance. Fortunately, this insurance is cheap and easy to get, as long as your home meets two basic requirements: (1) It is reasonably well-built, and (2) It is located in Wisconsin Unfortunately, if your home is located in Florida, or any other area that might actually be hit by a hurricane, most insurance companies would prefer not to sell you hurricane insurance, because then they might be required to pay YOU money, and that is certainly not why they got into the insurance business in the first place. So you'll have to scrounge around for an insurance company, which will charge you an annual premium roughly equal to the replacement value of your house. At any moment, this company can drop you like used dental floss. SHUTTERS: Your house should have hurricane shutters on all the windows and all the doors. There are several types of shutters, with advantages and disadvantages: Plywood shutters: The advantage is that, because you make them yourself, they're cheap. Sheet-metal shutters: The advantage is that these work well, once you get them all up. The disadvantage is that once you get them all up, your hands will be useless bleeding stumps, and it will be December. Roll-down shutters: The advantages are that they're very easy to use, and will definitely protect your house. The disadvantage is that you will have to sell your house to pay for them. Hurricane-proof windows: These are the newest wrinkle in hurricane protection: They look like ordinary windows, but they can withstand hurricane winds! You can be sure of this, because the salesman says so. He lives in Nebraska. Hurricane Proofing your property: As the hurricane approaches, check your yard for movable objects like barbecue grills, planters, patio furniture, visiting relatives, etc... You should, as a precaution, throw these items into your swimming pool (if you don't have a swimming pool, you should have one built immediately). Otherwise, the hurricane winds will turn these objects into deadly missiles. EVACUATION ROUTE: If you live in a low-lying area, you should have an evacuation route planned out. (To determine whether you live in a low-lying area, look at your driver's license; if it says Florida you live in a low-lying area.) The purpose of having an evacuation route is to avoid being trapped in your home when a major storm hits. Instead, you will be trapped in a gigantic traffic jam several miles from your home, along with two hundred thousand other evacuees. So, as a bonus, you will not be lonely. HURRICANE SUPPLIES: If you don't evacuate, you will need a mess of supplies. Do not buy them now! Florida tradition requires that you wait until the last possible minute, then go to the supermarket and get into vicious fights with strangers over who gets the last can of SPAM. In addition to food and water, you will need the following supplies: - 23 flashlights. At least $167 worth of batteries that, when the power goes off, turn out to be the wrong size for the flashlights. - Bleach. (No, I don't know what the bleach is for. NOBODY knows what the bleach is for, but it's traditional, so GET some!) - A big knife that you can strap to your leg. (This will be useless in a hurricane, but it looks cool.) - A large quantity of raw chicken, to placate the alligators. (Ask anybody who went through Andrew; after the hurricane, there WILL be irate alligators.) - $35,000 in cash or diamonds so that, after the hurricane passes, you can buy a generator from a man with no discernible teeth. Of course these are just basic precautions. As the hurricane draws near, it is vitally important that you keep abreast of the situation by turning on your television and watching TV reporters in rain slickers stand right next to the ocean and tell you over and over how vitally important it is for everybody to stay away from the ocean. Good luck, and remember: It's great living in Paradise!

Are you serious?
There was no cursing... it was just back and forth banter... 865136 thats f***ing bulls*** and you know it. Apparently there was cursing. 1truefan never said it was you, but looking back, you were involved in the name calling. :o An, an, an, an...an explanation as to why your post has been deleted! C'mon!! this is way too much for me to absorb! :o An investigation as to which mod has the itchy power trip trigger finger! I must be dreaming!!! :o 865869 When the question of 'why' is asked, an explanation is always given. Usually this is done via PM and not in the public forum. In almost every case, it results from a poster ignoring the forum guidelines (that includes the posts that were deleted on you, play...you just chose to believe it was something else.) 1truefan gave an explanation, citing the proper guidelines to back it up. This discussion will not develop into pure badgering. The question raised has been answered. Closed.
