Carnival Center is $3 million in red
This is expected. Most businesses and centers lose money the first few years. Let me know whether it's in the red in 10 years and then we'll be able to say whether it was a waste of money. :thumbup Honestly, because of the amount that taxpayers spent on it and the small number of people actually interested in going there, I dont think I'll ever consider it worthwhile

Jeopardy! tonight to feature something "unprecedented"
it makes sense cause he knew that the best either of his opponents could do was $16,000. if he gets it right, in that scenario, he ties, still gets his money, still gets to come back. he could have bet the extra dollar to put him at $16,001 if he got it right, but perhaps did not feel confident in the category, and so, did not want to lose the extra dollar if he got it wrong. But if he misses it, he loses, and losing the extra dollar wouldnt mean anything at that point What would the motive for fixing it be? Yeah thats the confusing part. The only thing I can think of is maybe he figures since he was beating them by over 5,000 going into Final, that if he fixed so they come back he could just beat them again instead of risking facing 2 new contestants

Marlins Stadium Bills Advance
Fasano wants to get his Lightning a second rebate to update the St. Pete Times Forum. Other than that, looks good. I was there for the ACC Tourney, and I cant see why that arena needs one. Its really nice as it is now

So Kobe is good

Jeopardy! tonight to feature something "unprecedented"
That was it? A 1 dollar win? No, it was a 3-way tie

Jeopardy! tonight to feature something "unprecedented"
That was actually kinda lame. The guy who was in the lead would have won outright had he just wagered $1 more on Final Jeopardy!

Sabathia: MLB at 'crisis' with lack of black players
another one of these forced diversity articles...i really don't like these kinds of articles. i don't feel it's a crisis with the little amount of black players in the league, as now compared to old times, blacks can get into the game of baseball. forced diversity is never an answer, as all it does is get people that don't want to do things to do things, and that doesn't create much fun. i do have a major problem with the following: "One of the reasons for baseball's decline among African Americans may be that struggling inner-city families can't afford the necessary equipment. Aluminum bats, balls, gloves and uniforms cost money, a fact that pushes kids toward basketball because all you need to play is a ball and a hoop." two problems. 1. this could be considered racist as it assumes that all black families live in inner cities, when that is false (many do, not ignoring that), too much of a blanket statement regarding black people. there are many black people in the middle and upper classes and this ignores that. 2. most of the players in latin america, esp. the dominican republic had less to work with than the inner city folks. but yet, they still play baseball. you don't need a uniform to play baseball, all you need is a bat, gloves and open space to play baseball. it's not the best, but it works. i think this is used as a crutch as to why they don't want to play baseball. here's the reasons why i think most blacks aren't going into baseball. 1. baseball culture. compared to basketball and football, it's old fashioned and behind the times, and not very attractive to alot of young people, especially with the hip hop culture more predominant with blacks. 2. minor leagues. the big payday in baseball is much later than in football or basketball, and thus unattractive to a poorer person who wants to get their family out of the hood. cc actually mentioned this, but 20 year olds in the bigs are like kobe bryants getting out of high school. 3. "it's boring". when most black people talk about baseball, they think it's boring. don't know why though. most likely related to 1. i'm okay for more black interest in baseball, but don't force blacks into it because of the lack of blacks. So CCs argument is invalid because not all black families are in the inner city...but blacks arent going into baseball because they cant get a big payday to get their families out of the hood? Arent you contradicting yourself?

Heat will win the East
1) It's not how many you make, it's when you make them. 2) He HAD to take the 3's. That's his freaking trademark and he was being left wide open. And did you hear the crowd when he got the ball? They wanted him to take it. To say he almost lost the game for us is kind of ridiculous because if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have even been in a position to LOSE it at the end. He closed the gap not only with his scoring, but his passing and defense. TODAY ANTOINE WALKER BECAME A MAN. Oh really?! Oh quit being so petty already. Your continuing attempts to take any shot possible at Heat fans and ridiculous jealousy of last year's championship is already way past pathetic. I know only 10 months have passed, but it's about time to move on. :thumbup His post has nothing to do with being petty...it has everything to do with the ridiculousness of defending the waste of space that is Antoine Walker

Heat will win the East
Heaven forbid they give any sort of credit to a team that has played them as hard as ANYONE has the last few years. Yeah, but you havent taken us down in the playoffs, so who cares if you play us hard?

Cavemen
With all that said, does anyone else find it really weird/ghey that this all started out of a car insurance commercial and that the commercials have NOTHING to do with the product that is being advertised? No, because great commercials rarely have something to do with the product being sold

Mare's departure imminent
I would be lying if I said I'm not going to miss him. Olindo was one of the best ever... I think you may even see his name in big white letters inside Dolphins Stadium one day... Haha yeah right

Cavemen
Interesting, I love those ads, I enjoy them better than the "we hired a celebrity to tell their stories" ones. That doesnt even need to be said. The celebrity ones are awful, they arent sh*t compared to the Cavemen

New Marlins Stadium 'Looking As Good As It Ever Has'
Someone mentioned it a few posts ago, but the bottom line is money. If parking is going to cost 15 dollars (atleast) and the metro rail is 3 round trip, its a no brainer. I'm sure MetroRail will jack their prices. Thats pretty doubtful...but even if they did itd still be a much more reasonable option. I think the highest they could jack up prices, if they wanted to, would be $2 one way. So then its only 4 bucks, still way better than parking However, for people taking transit to Marlins games, theyre gonna have to improve the wait for a train after games. Its one thing to put up with a 15-20 minute wait for the occasional weekend Heat game, but that would get old very quickly for a nightly sport like baseball

UM considers move from Orange Bowl to Dolphin Stadium
I say let them move to DS, demolish the OB, and build the new marlins stadium at the OB site. I say put the ballpark next to Govt Center as planned and keep the Canes in the City of Miami

Going to Panthers/Lightning tonight
You must not have been to a Panthers game in a while either, Tarheel. Parking for Panthers games is free now. The price to park is built into the ticket price. They realized people were just parking at Sawgrass and were originally going to charge people $5.00 when they walked acoss. Then when that dumb idea blew up in their faces, they decided to raise ticket prices slightly and make parking for the games free, citing saftey concerns of those walking across the street. Anyway, it is a great to just drive in and park. Yeah I remember them announcing the $5 walk in fee but not this, Its been very long since my last Panthers game Anyways, that still kinda stinks that they raised ticket prices. There really shouldnt be a safety concern if theres police controlling traffic in front of the arena
