  1. It still looks better than Tampa Bay's participation banners for wild card appearances and so forth
  2. They did the expanded rosters in 1990 when they had a lockout that shortened spring training, I absolutely hate the Manfred runner! Total B. S.
  3. Favorite of all-time is Niner, he is after all Mr. Marlin Current player probably Jazz, he's exciting to watch
  4. Good now bring back High A to the Florida State League
  5. I hadn't seen anything on this until I saw a post on a baseball group I follow on FB the other day, I definitely remember him at Florida State in the College World Series and his short stint with the Fish. https://ripbaseball.com/2021/12/11/obituary-richie-lewis-1966-2021/
  6. Gerald Williams who played with the 2003 Marlins passed away from cancer at age 55 https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/02/gerald-williams-passes-away.html
  7. Mattingly was another one of those guys that was one of the best players in the game for 4-5 year period, baseball is so much about numbers and due to injuries he wasn't able to hit any of those "magic" numbers, that said I'd put him in before Baines or Edgar Martinez since they didn't hit any of those either
  8. Fielder, Lincecum and Ryan Howard all dropping off the ballot too, not saying they're Hall of Famers but they each had a 4-5 year run as one the top players should've been able to get 5%
  9. As someone that attends Rays games to see the visiting team, I'm glad this got shot down, now if MLB was serious about keeping baseball in the Tampa area they'd move them out of St. Pete over to Tampa and movie them closer to fairgrounds area so could possibly open up the market to more Orlando area fans,
  10. I saw that interview, it was heartbreaking, I'm of that age, so yeah it certainly was a call to action for me
  11. Jim Corsi was a member of the inaugural Marlins team in 1993 appearing in 16 games, I got to meet him in 2015 at Fenway, I had seen that he was appearing at a "Walk in the Park" I dug out my Marlins cards of him and he graciously signed and took time to talk with me and my family while posing for pictures, sadly he passed from cancer. https://www.mlb.com/redsox/press-release/press-release-red-sox-mourn-the-passing-of-jim-corsi?fbclid=IwAR2-0rlZSbeIHk-F9Xwkz5Fe-CoGaQpV-4Xg9DjYpxNSOcF0c4eh9iG9hdI
  12. There are several ways of looking at the top pitcher I mean if you're only looking only at WAR , JJ, D-Train and Kevin Brown are better. I was looking at length of career so that subtracted Jose from the equation, but I agree he was incredible
  13. Are we going for a season or a top nine line-up? Of we're going an all-time I'd say P-Josh Johnson, C-Charles Johnson, 1b-Conine, 2b-Castillo. SS-HanRam 3b-Lowell LF-Cabrera CF-Yelich RF-Stanton
  14. Most likely Cabrera's the best player the organization has produced, in time and if he can avoid more injuries Stanton should reach 500+ HR's but there's no way that he reaches 3,000 hits
  15. @rmc523Nicely displayed too! Pretty sure I still have the newspapers from 97 and 03 too, but they're in a plastic tub last I checked, one of these days I'll have to convince my wife to convert one of the kids bedrooms into a man cave
  16. What if any things do you collect of the Marlins, what's your most prized possession? I've been collecting baseball cards and gotten several signed over the years, got loads of other things like yearbooks and media guides, some ticket stubs before everything was on my phone too. This isn't my most prized possession, but I mailed it to him and got it back today
  17. The Marlins have had two players named Henry Rodriguez, along with two Jesus Sanchez's and two Josh Smith's
  18. I got loads of random facts roaming around so here goes, there've been five, to the best of my recollection, sons of Marlins players drafted in the first round, there could be more but here's what I got Mike Cameron-Daz, Al Leiter-Jack, Paul Quantrill-Cal, David Weathers-Ryan and Bobby Witt-Bobby Jr.
  19. Fun tidbit about Hough, I played in a beer league with a guy who played in the White Sox system he says Hough used to light a smoke when throwing on the backfields, throw a dozen or so pitches then take a puff or two flip it in the grass and repeat the process until he was done or he'd have a smoke while riding the exercise bike, no wonder he looked 55 then
  20. Ed Vosberg is one of only three players to have played in a World Series in Little League, College and Majors Jason Varitek and Micheal Conforto are the others
  21. Second good move of the day, I'm hoping they can get a couple of bags of BP balls for him
