Guest Moneyball
It is either what happened in ST last year or a huge coincidence but the Montreal Expos team is trying to hurt our franchise player (Mike Lowell). Is it because Loria owned the Expos and abandoned them? Is it because of what happened last year in ST? Are the Expos jealous that the Marlins won the World Series? I bet they hurt Mike Lowell last year on purpose. This might be the future of rivalries! Forget the Yankees-Red Sox 20 years from now it will be the Marlins-Expos rivalry. The Marlins the new dynasty in sports with 12 championships in 30 years and the Expos of Orlando with only 2 championships. The Marlins in their state-of-the-art 1 billion dollar 45,000 capacity retractable roof stadium in one the most beautiful citys in the world Marlin City (formerly Hialeah) while the Expos play in the ageing Cracker Jack Stadium in Orlando. All around the ruins of Disney World and other attractions. Orlando has become the Philadelphia of the south. The Marlins by then have become the toast of the town. The Dolphins went out of business in the great Huzienga fire sale of 2012. The Marlins-Expos rivalry continues......... :lol

CapeFish
New York, NY- Major League Baseball is proud to announce a resolution to the saga that was formerly known as the Montreal Expos. The team shall now be the team formerly known as the Montreal Expos and be signified by the symbol $. The $'s (team formerly known as the Montreal Expos) will move sometime in your lifetime...maybe, but until that time the $'s (team formerly known as the Montreal Expos) will barnstorm and be baseball's version of a horrible Harlem Globetrotters. reclusedx
Lowell in the head. BTW whats the name of the Expos/Red Sox pitcher last year who hit Lowell to end his season and started messing with us when he was with the Sox the first half of the season??? PBMarlin
Lowell got hit twice in a row. First on the leg, and then on the helmet. Both times by Josh Karp, a minor leaguer. The guy was just wild. Almost hit Castro and Pierre as well. McKeon was ejected over it.
reclusedx
oops, just read the article. got hit in the hand, not head Link --> http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-e...ov=ap&type=lgns Marlins president David Samson went a step further. After the game, he said his staff prepared tapes to send to Major League Baseball highlighting several altercations between the Expos and Marlins. He estimated that Montreal pitchers have hit 10 Florida players since last spring after Brad Penny was suspended five games to start the season for hitting Vladimir Guerrero with a pitch. ``We're tired of having our guys get hit by the same team time after time,'' Samson said. ``You're talking about very highly paid professionals. Part of the game is pitching inside, but it just seems to us that that team has beenhitting our players for the better part of a year and a half.'' That would be none other than Hector Almonte, who was a minor leaguer in our farm system for a few years, and then got his MLB debut with the Marlins. :mischief

Guest Moneyball
the expos should just go to hell! everything about the team sucks, the stadium uniforms, fans, players, city, etc. the stadium was built with a retractable roof but it took 11 years to complete it , and when they tried it it didn't even work! only canadians... opening day is gonna be good, those damn canucks will see our championship banner unveiled... how many championships do the expos have? how many penants do those frenchies have? i say put the expos to play on a parking lot, it should have a better surface than olympic stadium. olympic stadium looks like a damn spaceship. if there are many die-hard expo fans they should go to hell i wouldn't support a team with just a crappy history. they don't even televise their games. how dumb was loria for buying that crap hole, he should havew brought vlad over here when he bought the marlins. i say lets take baseball out of montreal i think washington deserves a team more and their team name has to change. P.S. hector almonte uses crack.
bman8316
I wouldnt be surprised to see a huge brawl come opening day. I say we sign someone to a minor league deal and then bring them in on Opening Day to beam someone so that we can get back at them for Lowell, I mean how in the world do you "accidentaly" hit someone 3 straight times. I say Vidro should be the target, anyone else think we should beam someone else.
Guest Moneyball
Didn't almonte almost start a fight with the marlins the game the sox scored 25 runs, he tried to hit someone in the 8th a nd tommy hutton started saying on how thats why almonte should have stayed in the japs league? Guest Moneyball
rivalry continued opening day 2002 @ PPS the day fans threw magnets on the field. the first game at montreal in 2002 when the expos came back from 5-0 i don't remember and the montreal fans threw a beer at a marlins player. the beginnings of a rivalry............ I remember that. I think he threw behind Andy Fox. Tommy Hutton was fuming. I thought he was gonna leave the booth and charge the mound...Almonte is a true a-hole...He's the guy that chews on grass while he's pitching. Guest Moneyball
i want to see a josh beckett 98mph fastball go by the head of a montreal pitcher. if a fight does start opening day it will be the confirmed birth of the montreal-florida rivalry. but it will also be a dark day in marlins history considering the events that will happen before the game. ESPN will only talk about the fight and not unveiling of the championship banner (like they will). if a fight breaks out let it be the next day.
