i want to see a josh beckett 98mph fastball go by the head of a montreal pitcher. if a fight does start opening day it will be the confirmed birth of the montreal-florida rivalry. but it will also be a dark day in marlins history considering the events that will happen before the game. ESPN will only talk about the fight and not unveiling of the championship banner (like they will). if a fight breaks out let it be the next day.

 

The last thing you want is for a Beckett or Penny to throw at someone and lose four or five starts.

i say the marlins don't put the canadian national anthem, instead "We are the Champions" and repeat the part that says;"..no time for losers because we are the champion..." 100times

rivalry continued opening day 2002 @ PPS the day fans threw magnets on the field. the first game at montreal in 2002 when the expos came back from 5-0 i don't remember and the montreal fans threw a beer at a marlins player. the beginnings of a rivalry............

I remember that game. The Marlins had sort of taken the lead when Mike hit a shot down the left field line that was later ruled to be foul. The fans went crazy.

Marlins president David Samson went a step further. After the game, he said his staff prepared tapes to send to Major League Baseball highlighting several altercations between the Expos and Marlins. He estimated that Montreal pitchers have hit 10 Florida players since last spring after Brad Penny was suspended five games to start the season for hitting Vladimir Guerrero with a pitch.

 

``We're tired of having our guys get hit by the same team time after time,'' Samson said. ``You're talking about very highly paid professionals. Part of the game is pitching inside, but it just seems to us that that team has beenhitting our players for the better part of a year and a half.''

all i know is that one week from now beckett needs to go after a montreal batter. im sorry, but that is how baseball works. we have to be the agressors, because PPS is our house, and nobody, i mean nobody, comes into our house and pushes us around

i think the thing that started this rivalry was a couple of years ago when dempster hit a montreal pitcher i was watching that game, dempster was never the same again.

it was Javier Vasquez who got hit in the head by Dempster... and i think he was out for the rest of the year cuz of that.

 

oh well i just hope it continues ... once they are the Portland Expos and we are the Virginia Marlins.

It is either what happened in ST last year or a huge coincidence but the Montreal Expos team is trying to hurt our franchise player (Mike Lowell). Is it because Loria owned the Expos and abandoned them? Is it because of what happened last year in ST? Are the Expos jealous that the Marlins won the World Series? I bet they hurt Mike Lowell last year on purpose. This might be the future of rivalries! Forget the Yankees-Red Sox 20 years from now it will be the Marlins-Expos rivalry. The Marlins the new dynasty in sports with 12 championships in 30 years and the Expos of Orlando with only 2 championships. The Marlins in their state-of-the-art 1 billion dollar 45,000 capacity retractable roof stadium in one the most beautiful citys in the world Marlin City (formerly Hialeah) while the Expos play in the ageing Cracker Jack Stadium in Orlando. All around the ruins of Disney World and other attractions. Orlando has become the Philadelphia of the south. The Marlins by then have become the toast of the town. The Dolphins went out of business in the great Huzienga fire sale of 2012. The Marlins-Expos rivalry continues......... :lol

I bet you its Penny that will retaliate, he has the balls and its sort of an unspoken code of honor that no one comes in to our house and hits a player, especially not twice. If it happens, I bet the benches clear.

I loved the firm way that McKeon let the umpire have it. The guy just stood there in shock after our cool as heck coach ripped his head off. It was great! :notworthy

 

Come April, the Marlins pitcher will have one clear bullseye- right between the Losers eyes! Who the heck do they think they are messing with? Do they think that we will forget what happened yesterday?

I saw the clip on the news of him and the ump and I started laughing so hard. Wow.....don't make him angry!

I saw when lowell got pegged the first time inthe hip(ouch),and i can't believe the same pitcher had the ball's to try and hit him again!!!!and lowell did what anyone would do charge the mound,the expos have just met their worst nightmare...

Why does everyone over react so damn much in here. SO much drama, you forgett his is a sport. The guy that hit lowell yesterday was a minor leaguer that was trying to impress the coach for a spot, he is not going to go intentionally after Lowell. It sucks that he hit him twice but the way I see it he probably had a lot of respect for Lowell and was scared to pitch him anything good.
