April 16, 200422 yr I'm not sure if anybody else gets to see this guy play on a consistent basis, but he is UNBELIEVEABLE. He can do it all, run, throw, field, hit for average, hit for power, steal bases. Thank goodness he is a free agent after this year, so we can get him out of the AL Central. Even a homer like me will admit that Beltran is the best outfielder in the AL Central, ahead of even my boy Magglio. Some may think I'm overstating by saying this, but Beltran, based on raw talent, is the 2nd best all around position player i've ever seen in my over a decade of watching baseball (only behind Griffey Jr. circa 1990's). I just want to see if i'm the only one that thinks he is this good.
April 16, 200422 yr Wow bold statement. If Beltran can avoid getting the homer disease Griffey got...and you can tell from his swing...he can be amazing. I am not sure about his defense...but offensively...he can do it all. Some team is going to steal Beltran after this year. And make no mistake..whoever gets him...is getting a steal.
April 16, 200422 yr Author Yeah, he's going to the Yankees, no doubt he will be strolling CF in the Bronx next year. If he stays healthy, there is no doubt in my mind that Beltran will be in monument park someday with all the other Yankee greats.
April 16, 200422 yr I wish Beltran would go to a higher profile team because I know he's good but I hardly ever get to see KC games. Keep him out of the NL East though.
April 16, 200422 yr I think we are safe with Andruw, Cameron, and the Spos...Maybe the Phils go after him? Doubt it.
April 16, 200422 yr Author I think we are safe with Andruw, Cameron, and the Spos...Maybe the Phils go after him? Doubt it. I would be SHOCKED if Steinbrenner doesn't reel him in for some asinine amount of money.
April 16, 200422 yr I think of any FA in the next couple of years he is worth it. Second most important defensive position in the field with and could hit enough to play 1B. Awesome.
April 16, 200422 yr Author The Fish should roll the dice on him. :thumbup Will they? I don't think so. The Fish wouldn't even have the money to get Beltran if they somehow did get a new stadium. He might make more than Guerrero did, and WILL if Steinbrenner gets involved (which he will).
April 16, 200422 yr Author you want something bold. Beltran wont be a Yankee next year. You can call it bold, I can call it stupid, we shall see who's right.....
April 16, 200422 yr Beltran is 5 tool, that is why I rank him up ahead of Maggs right now. If I remember correctly, in previous threads I was speaking highly of Beltran but no one wanted to listen. But that being said, that ball Maggs hit out yesterday to win the game was insane. How did he even make contact.
April 17, 200422 yr Author Carlos is the real deal, I'm not sure I put him above Maggs yet I'm the biggest Maggs fan on planet earth, and even I'll tell you that Beltran is a better all around player.
April 17, 200422 yr his numbers outside of kansas city are not all that impressive. I would take mags most probably, but the guy is better defensively and he's never caught nabbing a bag.
April 17, 200422 yr Ordonez is the better hitter (He was 16% better offensive player last season), Beltran is probably the better all around player. I'm not sure who I'd take. I certainly don't think you would be a homer for calling Ordonez a better player, magglio. I also don't agree that Beltran is the second best player in MLB. He's very good, but he's not THAT good!

I'm not saying he's the second best PLAYER, i'm just saying based on raw all around talent, he's as good as i've seen.
April 17, 200422 yr I like beltran but ill be honest. i havent seen him on a consistant basis in order to make a fair judgement. But the best player in the AL Central is Magglio ... hands down
April 17, 200422 yr You look at Beltran's road numbers, he's an inferior player to alfonso soriano offensively. However, his defense is a definite plus. I would rather have soriano however.
April 17, 200422 yr I would rather have soriano however. Im sure that anyone that follows baseball alot would rather take Soriano over Beltran.
April 17, 200422 yr Soriano 2001-2003 Road OPS .889 SB 119 Beltran 2001-2003 Road OPS .835 SB 107 Soriano plays second base and beltran is an outfielder.
